Chapter 93: Physical Training and Egg Sandwiches
"Next question."
As her PR colleagues instructed her on the process, Le quietly licked her teeth, trying to unobtrusively stretch her stiffened facial muscles. She had only been answering reporters' questions for less than 10 minutes, but she was already exhausted. Her speech was a bit muddled, and if she hadn't deliberately slowed down, she would have easily slipped up.
The only person who can talk endlessly to reporters and act like a spoiled child in front of the live camera is Yuzuru Hanyu, this amazing guy...
Looking at the reporters holding cameras and recorders, Le Yi's mind wandered. Yuzuru Hanyu's expression before the live camera just now popped into her mind. He was announcing the breaking news with that cat-like smile he'd given to his elders, without even consulting her.
Even if they have already agreed to announce it...
Even though... I understand that he probably didn't want to disturb her preparations for this public rehearsal...
Thinking of this, he unconsciously clenched his back teeth.
"Suginohara-san, could you please tell me how you met Hanyu-san? Did you meet during the preparations for the ice performance? How long have you been dating?"
The reporter's question snapped Le out of her distraction. She hummed a confused hmm, a faint murmur of the word "Hanyu" in her trance. The reporters' expectant expressions contrasted sharply with their eagerness to ask about the ballet performance. She quickly determined what the question was.
"Sorry, we won't be answering personal questions in this interview." A colleague from the PR department dutifully stepped in front of Le before she could speak. "Now that everyone has asked all the questions about the dance troupe and our public rehearsal, let's end the interview here. Thank you."
I followed everyone in bowing to the reporters and leaving the interview room, then I breathed a sigh of relief.
"You're taking such a long breath! Luckily your interview was short, otherwise you'd be suffocating." He Jiu deliberately teased her, but seeing that she didn't seem to be in the mood for a quarrel, he shrugged and said, "Okay, it's been hard enough today. Let's go back together with your celebrity. This time we should be able to go home together in a legitimate way."
"I asked him to go back first," Le answered without even looking up. Before He Jiu could ask why, her next words naturally resolved his doubts. "I still want to go to the practice room to practice a little more."
"???" He Jiu's eyes widened, a look of confusion on his face. After a few seconds of hesitation, he probably came to his senses. "Then I'll go with you."
"No, I'll go by myself..." Before she could finish her words, the noise of the reporters leaving outside the door made her stunned for two seconds. "Can you lend me your car for today... so I can drive back to the group..."
"I'll take you there."
"No need," Le grabbed Hejiu's arm, stopping him from opening the door. "I can go by myself. Even though it's public now, there are probably a lot of paparazzi who haven't come in yet, still waiting to take pictures. So don't send me off. I won't drive your car either. I'll just go back with the group's bus later."
After saying that, she picked up her bag, trotted along confidently under the eyes of a group of reporters, and got on the bus with other colleagues who were participating in the rehearsal.
It suddenly rained that autumn night. Sitting in the last row of the bus, staring out the window, Leman's mind was still a tangle of thoughts. His tangled thoughts were like raindrops tracking along the window, randomly merging with the water droplets left on the Plexiglas and sliding down, ultimately ending up somewhere unknown.
The phone in her hand suddenly vibrated and she looked down.
Yuzu: Is it over?
There was no reply. She stared out the window for a moment, lost in thought. The bus passed an intersection, and the light turned green again. She sighed softly, lowered her head, and replied with a "hmm."
Yuzu: Okay, I'll wait for you.
She never replied to this message. She thought that when she finished her extra training, he would probably be leaving for training too. They probably wouldn't run into each other, and it would also avoid unnecessary arguments.
However, this plan was ruined when she pushed open the door of the group's practice room.
In the center of the three-mirror dance studio, Yuzuru Hanyu sat cross-legged, swaying from ear to ear as he listened to music. He looked up and saw Le, stunned at the door. He immediately removed his headphones, swiftly pushed himself up from the floor, and ran over to Le with a grin.
"You're back~ I knew you were coming here~ Hey, it's so convenient to get into your company now~ The interview was quite long. Did you ask a lot of questions?"
"Not bad." She closed the door with her backhand, and when she turned around, Yuzuru Hanyu grabbed her hand. She looked up at him indifferently, and did not pull her hand out of his hand, just letting him hold it in his hand and play with it.
However, he lowered his head to study her fingertips because he felt a little guilty.
Le Ben had a cold, aloof face, and his expressionless eyes sometimes made him seem unapproachable. Furthermore, Hanyu Yuzuru's eyes clearly showed some displeasure, which naturally made him nervous.
"I thought you might want to practice more, so I came here to wait for you. This way we can go home together later..." He had secretly drafted a plan in his mind while sitting here just now, wanting to playfully let her guess why he was here, but now he couldn't say it out loud, and it turned into an explanation muttered under his breath.
"Oh...are you still training tonight?"
"Training, we'll go later." He nodded quickly, "I'll ask Hasegawa to pick us up later."
"Well, then don't be idle now. Why don't you practice together? You can reduce the warm-up time later. It won't disrupt your usual plans." As she spoke, she pulled her hand out of his palm, put down her bag, and quickly put her hair up.
The phone made a ding-dong sound as it connected to Bluetooth, and she stood directly in front of the mirror, leaving a clear spot, it was obvious who it was for.
Although not specifically called upon, Hanyu still stood obediently. Following Le's music, he began stretching, followed by core training on a yoga mat, followed by back, waist, and legs... Le even deliberately skipped the ankle exercises to prevent him from resting alone.
After a full set, Hanyu looked like he'd been pulled out of the water. His hair was drenched in sweat, and beads of sweat dripped down his chin onto the dance mat. Le also took off his coat, leaving only his training leotard. Her exposed back was also covered in beads of sweat. She wiped it off with a towel, took a couple of sips of water, and handed her water bottle to Hanyu.
While he was drinking water, she had already adjusted the next music.
The Broadway-style dance, with its sweeping movements, clearly eschewed professional ballet practice to complement Hanyu's training. Each movement was simple, seemingly designed to allow Hanyu to follow along instantly. Even as movements changed, Le would remind him of the movements and requirements, as if guiding a class. This transformed the expansive leaps and tumbles, synced to the music, into a musical and visually appealing aerobic workout, leaving even the most breathless after a few rounds.
At the end of the final piece, Yuzuru Hanyu sat down on the floor, surrendering. Only then did Le give up her stubbornness and sat down on the mat. Her physical strength had long since reached its limit, and she gritted her teeth to persevere.
"Huh... Le... Actually, today..." Yuzuru Hanyu's breath was still not even out, but if he didn't speak before Le caught his breath, he was afraid that she would interrupt him with the next round of music and continue to torture him.
Sure enough, before he finished speaking, Le got up from the ground and was about to adjust the music when he hugged her waist.
"Wait until I finish speaking, don't jump, I surrender!" Human potential is unlimited, especially in such life-and-death situations. Even if you are still gasping for breath, you can quickly and concisely say what you want to say.
"If you don't want to dance, then don't say it. I don't want to talk about those things right now." She wiped the sweat from her chin with the back of her hand. "I know what you are going to say... but I don't want to hear it. Let me think it over before you speak."
Yuzuru Hanyu's long-prepared apology and explanation were stuck in his throat and chest. However, those who were in the wrong had no right to resist and could only sigh silently during their evening training at the rink.
"Hiroshige-san, you might be having a hard time lately." Yuzuru Hanyu decided to leave the ice early today due to exhaustion. Arriving at the sidelines, he saw Hasegawa waiting for him while working on some tasks, and he felt a bit bad. "The prologue performance is about to start, and there's a lot to prepare. I've also had other things to deal with. Dad said he and Mom will be here to help tomorrow, so you don't have to bother with the transportation."
"It's okay. I'll do my best to handle the media situation. Hanyu-san, please maintain your form and don't be affected by it anymore."
The word "again" directly expresses his subjective judgment on Yuzuru Hanyu's poor training performance today. Perhaps he thinks that his mood has been affected by what was made public today.
Yuzuru Hanyu lowered his head and smiled bitterly without explaining.
His guess was somewhat correct. Excessive training was also the price of quarrels...
A light was left on in the dining room of my home, and a small egg sandwich sat on the table. The bread had been removed, revealing a golden egg sandwiched between soft white bread, each cut into bite-sized cubes. The plate, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap, gave it a gourmet-inspired look under the warm yellow light.
This small portion is satisfying in just a few bites without making your stomach feel heavy and uncomfortable. It also allows your hungry stomach to finally no longer have to rely on supplements to fill it.
After washing and cleaning up, he gently pushed open the bedroom door. Silence reigned, save for the gentle sound of Le's breathing. He tiptoed under the covers and climbed onto the bed, reaching out to embrace Le from behind. Even though her back was to the sleeping woman, Le, as if sensing his strength, leaned into his embrace.
"You haven't fallen asleep yet, have you?"
“…” There was no response, but the rhythm of the breathing changed slightly, which could be heard clearly by people with sharp ears.
"I'm sorry," he whispered softly in her ear, but before he could finish, the person in his arms tried to struggle out, but he held her back. "I know you don't want to hear my explanation, but I still want to apologize. When you want to hear it, I'll tell you what I think, although I think you probably know it too."
"..." Le still didn't respond, but stopped trying to break free from his arms.
Feeling the person in his arms relax, he squeezed his arms closer to her. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, the familiar scent of her hair making him feel incredibly safe.
"I miss you so much..." he murmured. The recent forced separation meant he hadn't been able to hold her like this while sleeping. Le tilted her head slightly, her ears rubbing against his furry head, silently responding to his words of longing.
After a long day, in this quiet night, they fell asleep in each other's arms like two little animals snuggling together.
Perhaps he was too tired, or perhaps it was the peace of mind of finally being able to sleep with his beloved in his arms, but Yuzuru Hanyu slept soundly that night, dreamless until the doorbell woke him.
"Hmm... who is it..." Le frowned at the doorbell and was about to get up, but someone held his shoulders.
"I'll go..." Yuzuru Hanyu rubbed his eyes, sat up in a daze and looked for his slippers. He walked to the door in slippers, and the moment he opened the door, he became fully awake.
"Mom and Dad... um... Aunt Feng... Marrku-san..."
The sight of four parents standing at the door flustered Yuzuru Hanyu. He hurriedly bowed, not knowing who to call first. He simply gave a random and vague greeting and ushered them in.
