Bonus Chapter 2: You know?
Qin Anning neither checked his salary card nor spent any money from it.
They have known each other for thirteen years, and they are so familiar with each other that they cannot be more familiar with each other than they are with each other.
She used to enjoy teasing Fu Yin. Every time she thought Fu Lian would get angry, he would just look at her intently with those unfathomable eyes.
During this long period of time, it is unknown when exactly, but something called emotion quietly began to sprout.
Qin Anning didn't know, all she knew was that when Fu Yin confessed his feelings, she had intended to make things difficult for him, but she couldn't bring herself to do it; she didn't want to see the hurt look in his eyes.
Just as she was lost in thought, Fu Yin suddenly said, "Anning, there's something I want to tell you."
Qin Anning snapped out of her daze, turned to look at him, and asked, "What's up? Did you get promoted again?"
"no."
He said half of it, then thought for a moment and added, "Let's talk about it when we get back."
Qin Anning looked at him suspiciously, wondering if he was having an affair with that intern or had fallen for someone else.
It can't be that fast, can it? They've only been together for two years at most. Are they already tired of each other?
Qin Anning began to feel uneasy. She had never been in a relationship before, and she felt somewhat helpless in this situation, her mind already racing with thoughts of what to do.
Should she cling to him relentlessly and refuse to break up, or should she decisively agree, go home to inherit the family fortune, and then slap him in the face?
Or, you could find someone new; out with the old, in with the new.
But no matter how much she fantasized, the thought of breaking up still caused her a slight, almost imperceptible, pang of pain.
On their way back, the two went to the supermarket, bought groceries, and then returned home together.
Qin Anning is currently unemployed. After graduating, she found a job, but couldn't stand the backstabbing in the office and the harassment from her lewd boss, so she resigned in a fit of anger.
After she complained to Fu Yin, he told her to rest at home and said he would take care of her.
Qin Anning was too lazy to go to work. Anyway, no matter what the outcome was, she would return to Beijing or Chongqing in five years.
But it seems like we'll be able to go back soon.
She was so engrossed in her thoughts that she bumped into Fu Yin's back as she entered the room, and staggered back a step.
"What's wrong?" Fu Yin grabbed her hand and steadied her.
Qin Anning raised her head and looked at him solemnly, "I agree."
Fu Yin was stunned for a moment, a look of surprise on his face. "You agree? You knew?"
Qin Anning's heart sank. She lowered her head and sighed, "Sure enough, never mind, I'm the kind of person who drags things out too much."
"Anning, how did you know?" Fu Yin's surprise hadn't faded. He hadn't told anyone about this and didn't understand how she knew.
"Does it matter how I know?" Qin Anning pulled her hand away from his. "I've been thinking about this all the way here. Let's part ways amicably. I'm not as fragile as you think."
Fu Yin was stunned again, seemingly realizing what was happening. "What do you mean by 'parting amicably'? Are we talking about the same thing?"
Qin Anning glanced at him. "Didn't you say you were going to break up?"
Fu Yin stared at her serious expression and smiled for no apparent reason.
Qin Anning got angry and punched him in the chest. "Are you so happy about breaking up with me?!"
Fu Yin took her hand, his tone softening considerably, "You're overthinking it. How could I possibly break up with you? I've said it before, I'll never let you go in this lifetime."
"Then what do you want to say?"
Fu Yin paused for a moment, then said, "I want to resign."
"What!?"
“Yes, resign and start your own company.” Fu Yin held her hand, looking at her intently. “I have accumulated a lot of resources over the past few years, so it won’t be too difficult for me to start my own company.”
"But then I might be very busy, and there's also the matter of buying a house..."
He hesitated to speak because he had promised Qin Anning that they would buy their own house within five years and then get married.
If we start a business now, this promise is very likely to be broken, and it could lead to even more serious consequences, such as losing everything, dragging Qin Anning down with her, and making her wait for so long in vain.
Once this decision is implemented, it will mean a lot of uncertainty. He is also afraid of failure and of delaying Qin Anning.
His current job isn't bad; at least it allows them to live a comfortable and worry-free life. However, he doesn't want to be subservient to others; he wants to stand higher and go further.
Qin Anning asked him, "Have you thought it through?"
Fu Yin nodded slightly. "I've been thinking about this for a long time, but I can't think about it anymore. I have to tell you."
Qin Anning hesitated for a moment, then asked uncertainly, "What if I don't agree?"
She didn't disagree; she just wanted to know what Fu Yin would choose.
Which is more important, his career or her? It's a naive question, but she just wants to know. She's just asking and won't actually stop him from starting his own business.
Fu Yin fell silent.
The longer he remained silent, the heavier Qin Anning's heart sank.
Do you think I'm being too immature? Childish?
Fu Yin shook his head. "No, I didn't think that way. I know there are risks. I understand that you want a stable life. I'm trying to convince myself."
Qin Anning suddenly laughed and hugged him tightly. "Alright, you don't need to convince yourself. Just do what you want to do. I support you."
Fu Yin lowered his head, a look of joy flashing in his eyes. "Really?"
"Of course it's true. I believe in you. You're so talented, you'll definitely succeed."
He was a promising and outstanding man, as approved by his father, so Qin Anning naturally believed him.
His nature was never one to remain subservient to others for long. When he was eighteen, his father said that he was an ambitious person who was unwilling to be mediocre.
The fact that he said these words now is enough to prove that he is indeed a man with ideals and ambitions.
Fu Yin excitedly hugged her tightly, so tightly that Qin Anning could hardly breathe.
He whispered, "Even for your sake, I will not fail."
"Come on, whether you succeed or fail, you're not allowed to use me as an excuse."
"It's not an excuse. You are my pillar when I face difficulties. You are my goddess."
"You're being too mushy!" Qin Anning said, but she couldn't suppress the smile on her face.
Fu Yin simply held her without saying a word.
He had been as careful as possible; if he hadn't been afraid of failing and causing Qin Anning to suffer along with him, he wouldn't have waited until now to bring it up.
Perhaps he had already started his own business before he even graduated.
When you're alone, you can do whatever you want without any problems, but when you have someone you care about, you naturally have to be fully prepared.
Fu Yin loosened his grip slightly, lowered his head, and stared into Qin Anning's eyes.
Their eyes met, and an indescribable feeling began to spread between them.
Qin Anning suddenly gripped his sleeve tightly, feeling a little nervous herself.
