Crazy Stockpiling at the End of Days

Orphaned and working tirelessly for three years, I finally bought my own house only to face the apocalypse. For the second time, I must endure the same catastrophic disaster.

But this time I ...

Chapter 229 Solar Poison 4

As usual, Li Jingjing and Sun Weiwu brought honey and royal jelly. Their honey is very popular in the store and is considered a good gift.

Wang Jing and her family of four brought a fish and a piece of tofu as extra dishes.

"Thank you all for taking the time to come to dinner today. Let's have a toast to thank ourselves for surviving another disaster."

Everyone stood up and clinked glasses, drinking mung bean soup with sugar.

"The second drink is to celebrate finding my son Hao Hao, especially thanks to Xu Lin and Zhou Pin, and of course Shu Ke and Beta."

Dr. Dai had already heard that Shuke and Beta were the biggest contributors to finding Haohao.

"The third toast: May our survivors' home always be united and striving for progress."

After a few drinks, everyone chatted and ate. With the long hours of sunshine these days, all kinds of vegetables are growing well, so the dishes today are quite plentiful.

"Xu Lin, do you know? The people in building 41 of our community died from sunburn."

"Doesn't he live alone? He recently chartered a fishing boat to sell seafood?"

"Yes, they work themselves to the bone to earn money for retirement, only to die from poisoning in the end."

"What about his house?" Xu Lin asked.

"I heard the base has been reclaimed; it can be rented or bought."

"I don't know if there are any multi-story apartments for rent or sale. Haohao has been found. Our one-bedroom apartment is a bit cramped," said Dr. Dai.

Recently, she and Xiang Qing have been sleeping in the inner room, while Hao Hao sleeps in the living room, but it's still inconvenient. She hopes to move to a different place, whether it's rented or bought.

“Our family also wants to move. How about we rent the one Jingjing mentioned?” Wang Jing’s family is now wealthy and wants to improve their living conditions.

“You can move to the villa area, then we can look after each other,” Xu Lin said.

Xu Lin hoped that Dr. Dai could live closer to her, since he was a doctor and she could consult him anytime if she had any questions.

“Yes, Dr. Dai, it’s safer for you to live in a villa area while you’re raising two children alone,” Aunt Wu analyzed from the perspective of an elderly person.

"How about we take a look around the villa area?" Aunt Ning asked Wang Jing. What could Wang Jing say? Of course, she agreed.

"I'll keep an eye out when I go to work this afternoon," Wang Jing said while eating.

Today, Xu Lin invited Li Jingjing and Wang Jing to come over for lunch after the store closed, so they could eat their fill before going back to work.

Now the two of them cook lunch at the shop to avoid wasting time going back and forth to their homes and to avoid being exposed to the sun.

The meal lasted until 2 p.m., and everyone went home. Xu Lin continued cooking. Because she used all the ingredients according to the recipe, her pickled cucumbers were praised in front of everyone. This time, she made shredded mustard greens.

Ingredients: Mustard greens, onion, scallion, star anise, cinnamon, bay leaves

Seasoning: chili powder, chili flakes, salt, sugar

Prepare 5 catties of mustard tubers. First, rinse them with clean water, cut off the irregular parts and the rootlets at the bottom, and keep only the smooth and tender parts.

Place the mustard greens on the cutting board and cut them into 3mm slices, then cut them diagonally into strips, trying to cut them as evenly as possible. Five pounds of mustard greens can make a small bowl. Add 100 grams of salt, mix well and marinate for about half an hour.

While the mustard greens are pickling, prepare the other ingredients: half an onion, a section of scallion, two star anise, two pieces of cinnamon, and three bay leaves. Chop them all and put them in a dish for later use.

Heat oil in a wok until it reaches 50% of its maximum temperature. Then, add onions, star anise, cinnamon, bay leaves, and scallions in that order. Fry over low heat until the spices are golden brown and fragrant. Remove and discard the spices.
