Orphaned and working tirelessly for three years, I finally bought my own house only to face the apocalypse. For the second time, I must endure the same catastrophic disaster.
But this time I ...
“I have a plan,” Xu Lin said. “We can go in with them the moment the containers are being collected, and then come out when the water level is stable.”
"Can people enter your space?" 801 asked.
Oh no, I've been exposed. I clearly planned not to reveal the secret of the space to 801. Maybe 801 has been behaving too well lately, and I've let my guard down.
"Uh, no." Xu Lin could only lie stiffly.
“Let’s take the above-water portion first; that should be enough for us. The containers are sealed, so we can bring the underwater portion over after the extreme heat and floodwaters recede,” 801 suggested.
"Okay, let's begin." Given an opportunity to back down, Xu Lin quickly accepted.
When 801 opened the first container, it was filled with imported cosmetics. Xu Lin saw that they were all international big brands that she couldn't afford before, and she grinned from ear to ear.
The second container was full of imported snacks: boxes of coffee, chocolate, and other snacks were piled up there. There should be enough for Xu Lin to eat for the rest of her life!
The third container was filled with clothes, which were obviously made in China, shipped abroad for rebranding, and then brought back, but the quality was definitely not a problem.
Shining a powerful flashlight closer, they revealed various types of stab-proof vests and bulletproof vests. These were not things that ordinary people could obtain; at least Xu Lin hadn't managed to get any of them when she was stockpiling supplies.
Give half to 801, and the rest will be enough for me to wear for this life and the next. Seeing 801's indifferent expression, Xu Lin quickly tried to stop grinning so wide, lest she look like she'd never seen anything like it before.
The fourth container contains some vaccines and medicines, all stored in refrigerators with batteries. There are still stores around, so I quickly put them into my space; these are valuable items.
Upon receiving this box, 801 was clearly quite pleased; it seems this guy likes medicine. Yes, in the apocalypse, the worst thing is not having food, followed by getting sick. With a lack of medical care and medicine, even a common cold can be fatal. This box contains some highly effective drugs and imported vaccines; to exaggerate, it even includes cancer treatments.
The fifth container was filled with stationery, which puzzled Xu Lin. Did stationery really need to be imported? Never mind, just take it. Anything involved in import and export is good stuff, and she couldn't let any slip by.
The sixth container contained appliances from an international brand; a quick glance revealed air purifiers, refrigerators, washing machines, and so on. There wasn't time to look at everything; I just took it all.
"This one comes with insurance," said 801 as they drove the seventh container.
"Open it and see what's inside, then put it away." Things that need to be kept fresh are good; in the apocalypse, things that need to be kept fresh are basically extinct.
This time, 801 didn't force open the container; they used some method, and managed to open it in 10 minutes. Inside were boxes of meat, probably beef, lamb, and fish. It was too cold, so Xu Lin quickly closed the door and stored the container in her storage space. This kind of container with insurance features might come in handy later.
The seventh container contained luxury goods, including bags, jewelry, shoes, and clothes. Although these items would be useless in the apocalypse, waste was not Xu Lin's style. She packed the items up in the corner of the space, intending to clear them out first when the space was full.
The eighth container contained pots and pans from a major brand. Was there even a question? Everyone needs a job.
The ninth container contained 3C products, such as mobile phones, computers, and speakers. These were stored together with luxury goods, and we cleared them out when there wasn't enough space.
Just as we were about to open the tenth container, 801 suddenly stopped moving.
