Chicken feet delivery, what's not to like?
...(Breakthrough)
1. Old friends reunite. The two girls simultaneously release their magic. Kaelin puts down his crossbow, unaware of who the blonde girl is, nor that Freya knows her.
When Jielu first arrived in the southern part of the Starry Continent, she began to form a traveling group for adventures. It was her first time leaving her sect and coming to an unfamiliar place to make friends.
Freya was one of them, and the two were very close. Tonight, their unexpected reunion after many years left them speechless, only able to gaze at each other. There were so many questions, so much misunderstanding, and so much to say.
Sensing the movement around him, Philsa stood up, protecting himself with his sword while using his magical senses to monitor his surroundings and assess the safety of his companions.
Jielu decided to speak first. "How have you been? Have you seen any other friends?"
Where were they? Just as she was getting too excited to know where to begin, Philsa interrupted her.
"Jielu! Wang Jun is here!"
Her companions woke her up, and she heard the endless sound of horses' hooves all around.
Philsa sensed first that the enemy was the third wave: the Auguston army and the Knights of the Throne.
He urged his companion on again before turning and running toward the town exit, not too fast, hoping she could catch up.
Jelu glanced at her companions running away behind her, and then at her friend Freya, whom she had recently reunited with, before reluctantly leaving. Before she went, she heard Freya say something to her.
2. "Meet at the Alchemists' Guild in Fallingwind City before dusk the next day." This was the last sentence Jelu heard.
It was already daytime the next day. The two had rested under a tree for the night before continuing their journey two quarters of an hour earlier. Now they were in the suburbs, heading north.
Jielu had originally planned to introduce her old friend in detail to her companions, but she never expected...
"I know her."
"Huh?"
Felsa didn't share Jelu's joy; instead, she seemed more composed. "Before that, I was also a knight."
Jelu understood that "before that" meant before Felsa's final battle with Augustine and before he went blind.
"There was a time when I was in charge of escorting Freya back to Fukisakura Island."
It turned out that all three of them knew each other! It was less a coincidence and more a matter of fate. Thinking this, Jielu was overjoyed. She felt a little guilty towards her companions; they hadn't recognized each other after such a long standoff that night.
Jelu then recalled the past, how she and Freya had often corresponded by letter after saying goodbye.
Freya often mentioned a knight older than her during that time. Could she be referring to Philsa?
“I heard her say last night that we should go to Fallwind City to meet her.”
After hearing this, Philsa did not refuse, but remained silent.
Fallingwind City is the next destination on the northward route.
He had no reason to stop them from meeting.
"It's unbelievable that you know her!"
Philsa shrugged. “Indeed unbelievable.” He seemed to have something else to say, but ultimately remained silent.
Seeing through his pretense, Jielu urged, "And then? Why?"
"..."
"Say it!"
He stopped and turned his head slightly. "She's a troublesome young lady who needs to be served the whole way. Despite being born into a noble family of alchemists, she prefers to wield swords and spears."
This is giving me a real headache. If anything goes wrong, I'll be responsible for everything. I really don't know what I was thinking when I took this job.
From what he revealed, one can guess that the two seemed to have spent a considerable amount of time together and knew each other quite well.
At this point, Jelu had to admit it was entirely true. "In the end, everything turned out alright, didn't it?"
Philsa nodded, dropped the subject, and walked briskly in silence.
At this moment, Jielu followed closely and could tell that he had some unspeakable troubles.
She mustered her courage to find out one thing: "What exactly is your relationship with her?"
“A master-servant relationship. Of course, that’s no longer the case.” He answered without turning his head, continuing to walk.
"It's not that simple, is it?" she asked further.
"Friendship".
"More than that, isn't it?" she pressed on, a little nervous inside.
Why does he become much more silent than usual when Freya is mentioned?
Philsa said impatiently, "I already knew Sherry back then, but we were just splitting up because we each had our own missions within the Knights!"
She eventually fell silent and followed behind her companion. At that moment, he suddenly stopped, and she almost bumped into his back.
"That's a bit strange. Do you remember the battle last night?"
"Hmm. Will you still see things during combat?"
"I was just about to say that, but it seems I can't."
"What's going on?" After saying that, Jielu also felt that her companion's speed last night was not as fast as before.
I even realized that if I could have been a little faster, I could have kept up.
If it were a while ago, Jielu wouldn't even be able to see his shadow clearly.
Philsa gradually learned how to control the rampage of his demonic blood with his will, but in doing so, he lost his "opening of the eye".
Gerlu guessed that it might be because Firsa's body had not yet recovered, and sternly warned him not to take any more risks in the future.
At this walking pace, the two could reach Fallingwind City before dusk.
Firsa covered her face with the hood of her cloak.
This was my first visit to this bustling city twice. Upon entering the city gates, the constant noise was deafening, as if every day was filled with a festive atmosphere. It was late autumn, the weather was clear and crisp, perfect for inviting people out for leisure.
