Chapter 35 Everyone says we're in-laws
"Okay, I'll go change my clothes and then I'll be right there," Aunt Lin said as she went upstairs.
"Okay," Momo replied, then sat down on the sofa and casually fiddled with the flowers on the table.
A short while later, Aunt Lin came downstairs, and the group went out together.
The meal was very pleasant. The four of them chatted and laughed at the table, and Bian Xi shared some of her experiences over the past two years. Momo sat quietly to the side the whole time, occasionally chiming in, but most of the time it was the other two talking.
"Momo, what are your plans for this summer vacation?" Aunt Lin couldn't help but ask her.
Momo smiled. "There are no plans yet."
"Why don't you come on a trip with us?" Aunt Lin suggested.
She had always intended to match her son with Momo, even though the two were four years apart, they were a good match in terms of both appearance and family background.
Most importantly, she knows Momo very well. She's watched Momo grow up since she was little, so she knows her personality and everything about her.
Momo looked a little embarrassed. She glanced at her mother, and Su He spoke up, "I might not be in the mood lately. As you know, the new movie project in Sanlin hasn't been doing very well in terms of attracting investment, so I'll stay home with him."
"That's true."
"Then let's do it next time," Ms. Lin said again.
Su He nodded, "Yes, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future anyway."
"But if there's anything I can help with, don't hesitate to tell me." Ms. Lin smiled and added with a hint of joking, "Anyway, everyone says we're in-laws."
"When it comes to this, I feel like it would be better if we just became in-laws. I like Momo so much."
Momo blushed upon hearing this. Aunt Lin used to make similar jokes, but Bian Xi was never present.
Su He smiled and said, "I agree with you joking like that, but that depends on whether Bian Xitong agrees with you joking about him like that."
Ms. Lin smiled and said with certainty, "He would definitely be very happy to do so."
Bian Xi smiled without saying a word, just staring at Momo. Momo felt a little embarrassed by his gaze, but she also seemed to sense something different.
"That's because Bian Xi is generous and lets us elders make fun of him," Su He said politely.
She also liked Bian Xi very much, but she wouldn't force him to have romantic relationships; everything was fate.
Ms. Lin didn't say anything more after hearing this, and the group started talking about other topics.
After lunch, Bian Xi had to leave early because he had something to do, so Ms. Lin also got up and left, saying she was going back to take a nap. So Momo and Su He saw them off at the gate, where Bian Xi's car was parked.
"Momo, come visit Auntie's house whenever you have time," Aunt Lin said to Momo.
Momo nodded obediently, "Okay."
"Well, Ah He, I'll head back now. Son, drive carefully."
Su He nodded to her, and Bian Xi immediately replied, "Okay."
After Ms. Lin left, Bian Xi opened the car door and got in, then stuck his head out of the window to talk to Momo.
"Momo, I'll contact you later."
"Okay." Although Momo didn't know why he contacted her later, she readily agreed.
Bian Xi smiled at her, then waved to Su He, "Auntie, I'm leaving now."
Su He smiled and said, "Slow down."
"good."
The two stood there watching the car turn and disappear at the end of the road. Momo immediately turned around and hugged Su He's arm, acting coquettishly. She had been embarrassed when she came back because of the crowd.
"Mom, I've missed you so much in just a few days."
Su He smiled and reached out to hug her, "I think you were having too much fun and didn't even think about your mother."
"Where can I find it? It's better to be at home. There's an indescribable sense of comfort when I come home." Momo clung to her mother like a sloth as they walked into the house.
"Alright, you're so old and still acting like a baby. Go upstairs and wash up and rest for a while. You must be tired after such a long flight." Su He pinched her nose. "Look at you, your skin has become rough in just a few days. Tomorrow, Mom will take you to get some after-sun repair to prevent further damage to your skin."
"Okay." Momo obediently listened and went upstairs to take a shower and catch up on her sleep.
She didn't get a good night's sleep during her stay in Thailand, so now that she's back in her own bed, especially with her giraffe that's been with her for many years next to her, she feels incredibly at ease.
She quickly fell asleep and slept until after six o'clock in the evening, when Su He came up to call her for dinner.
Dad has a new movie in pre-production, and it's currently in the investment and marketing phase, so he's very busy every day. As a result, it's just Momo and Mom having dinner together again.
She was used to this kind of life. Her father had always been away from home most of the time since she was a child, so Momo cherished the time she spent with him every time he came back.
Because she ate a lot at noon and slept all afternoon, she wasn't very hungry in the evening and was full after eating just a little salad.
After dinner, she and her mother went to cool off in the back garden.
After sunset, the breeze blowing through the garden was much cooler. The wind in Kyoto is so much better than in Thailand, where the weather is truly unbearable.
Thailand… she couldn’t help but think of Thailand again.
It was a place that felt like a nightmare to her.
She kept trying to forget it, but things never went as planned. The more she reminded herself to forget, the more likely she was to remember it.
"Where did you go during your trip to Thailand?" Su He asked her leisurely, fanning herself with a palm-leaf fan.
Momo was taken aback and immediately pulled herself back to reality.
"Qiqi took me to Phuket. The sea there is very beautiful."
She simply said that all that was supposed to be a well-organized trip ended up being a miserable memory.
She couldn't say any more.
After a short while, she saw that her mother wanted to ask more questions, but she suddenly remembered the things that Grandpa Piweng had given her, and immediately spoke up before her mother could.
"Oh, right, Mom, I also brought you a gift. Wait for me a moment, I'll go upstairs to get it." With that, she quickly ran upstairs.
"Slow down," Su He reminded her to be careful on the steps.
"Okay..." Her voice echoed from the spiral staircase.
Soon, Momo came downstairs carrying an exquisite box. She gently placed the box in front of Su He and then asked her with some excitement.
"Mom, guess what it is?"
Su He stopped fanning herself with her palm leaf fan and stared at the box with curiosity, trying to guess what it was.
"Is it a skincare product?"
Momo smiled and shook her head.
"Is it mosquito repellent? I heard that the mosquito repellent there works very well." Su He had just heard mosquitoes buzzing around in the flower bushes, and this suddenly came to her mind.
Momo shook her head again.
"Then give me a hint, otherwise I won't know where to start," Su He said.
"It's one of Dad's favorite things," Momo said, stopping there.
"Porcelain?" Su He blurted out after hearing her reminder.
"That's right." Momo felt that her mother really understood her father too well.
She opened the box, presented it to her mother, and said truthfully, "This was given to me by Grandpa Piweng; it's one of his treasured possessions."
Suhe's face lit up with joy when she saw it; the porcelain set was truly beautiful.
