Apocalypse | Stockpiling | Supernatural Powers | Killing Zombies | Fighting Survivors
Congratulations to me for receiving the Apocalypse Lucky Person package, complete with an arbitrary door ...
One afternoon, we drove to a spot a street away from the city center and decided to get out and walk to find zombies. We hadn't walked far when we turned a corner and almost bumped into a dozen zombies. Perhaps they heard the sound of our car, because the surrounding zombies were all moving towards us. Ji Lin'an and I reacted quickly, turned around, and ran. When we got back to where we had parked, the car was gone. Ji Lin'an and I panicked. The zombies were chasing us too closely; we could only keep running. I took out my phone to try and use the "Anywhere Door" feature to go back, but then I suddenly remembered that the skill was disabled. The zombies had chased us for nearly three kilometers. Our home was halfway up a mountain, and our way home was almost entirely on expressways. There were no zombies around... There was nowhere to hide in the neighborhood. When we were four kilometers from home, the road turned uphill. Having already run three kilometers, the uphill climb was clearly too much for me. My leg suddenly gave way, and I twisted my ankle, collapsing to my knees. Ji Lin'an immediately carried me on his back and continued running. However, carrying me reduced our speed by more than half. The longer we ran, the more energy we expended, and the slower we became. When the zombies were less than two meters away, I begged Ji Lin'an to put me down and walk. But after the near-death experience in the future vision, how could Ji Lin'an possibly let me go? The end result was that I was caught by a zombie, and Ji Lin'an and I fell to the ground together. Before we could even get up, a dozen or twenty zombies pounced on us, tearing at us and fighting over us...
Back in reality, Ji Lin'an and I were both drenched in sweat. I turned to look at Ji Lin'an, and he looked at me too. After a minute of eye contact, I snuggled into his arms and hugged him tightly. He didn't say anything or resist, so I just held him quietly. I thought I heard Ji Lin'an breathing a little rapidly. I only reluctantly let go of him when he reached out and stroked my head. Ji Lin'an got up, poured me a glass of water, and handed it to me. I drank it all in one gulp and then made an excuse to go upstairs to rest.
I didn't know how to face Ji Lin'an. Although the hug just now was intentional, I genuinely felt guilty. We both have skills, yet we couldn't protect each other. Ji Lin'an could barely protect me, but I was truly a burden. I'm the epitome of a terrible teammate. Oh well, what can I do? I've watched too many idol dramas and become a hopeless romantic. I got into a top high school based on my own merit, but after meeting Ji Lin'an, all I did was think about how to attract him, trying all sorts of ways to "accidentally" meet him, only to be rejected in the end. My first love ended in failure, and my college entrance exam went terribly. Thinking about all this, I drifted off to sleep...
