Chapter 35 Accepting Reality

Bai Hao stood there dumbfounded, looking at the security guard who was equally bewildered. Bai Hao didn't understand why Qin Nan still remembered.

He made Zhou Miao and Lü Zeqi forget their own affairs. In order not to affect Qin Nan's cooking, he made Qin Nan forget the old man and the things he had eaten that didn't exist. But Qin Nan's reaction... did his magic fail?!

Bai Hao bought four large bags of snacks with Qin Nan. Bai Hao felt that he probably wouldn't be eating well lately. He really didn't expect to encounter such a thing. Qin Nan turned pale when she saw pickled chicken feet in the supermarket. In short, Qin Nan was quite exhausted today.

That evening, the two returned to the Qin family's old house. After opening the gate, Qin Nan turned on the light switch in the courtyard next to the gate and saw two seven- or eight-year-old boys sleeping soundly together on the stone stool where the Pixiu statue was placed. One was swinging a dragon tail and the other was swinging a fish tail, both with a pair of dragon horns.

Qin Nan froze on the spot. Bai Hao put one hand to his forehead. The restriction on the tortoise had expired and been lifted, but neither of them could transform. They probably fell asleep because they had been waiting for Qin Nan and Bai Hao for too long. They were still holding half a bag of rat food in their arms.

Qin Nan's already pale face looked even worse now. Bai Hao felt that Qin Nan might faint at any moment, so he silently closed the door and went forward to give each of the two children a flick on the forehead.

"Who? Who dares to ambush me... Boss! Brother Anan!" Chi Wei covered his head and looked at the two in shock.

Pi Yuan opened his eyes with a silly look, looked at Bai Hao and Qin Nan, silently lowered his head, and hugged the rat food tightly to his chest.

Seeing Qin Nan almost petrified, Bai Hao pulled her to the backyard, where Chi Wei and Pi Yuan followed.

After a while, Qin Nan came to her senses while sitting on the sofa. She turned to look at Bai Hao standing to the side, then at the two little babies in the corner who were stealing rat food. She lay listlessly on the sofa.

Qin Nan: "Boss, can you explain this?"

Bai Hao coughed lightly. "Yes, I've said it before, I'm not human."

Qin Nan: "Huh, are you a demon?"

Bai Hao: "No, I am the divine beast Bai Ze."

"..." Qin Nan weakly turned her head to look at Bai Hao, "The Bai Ze auspicious beast from the Classic of Mountains and Seas that can know everything?"

Bai Hao nodded.

Qin Nan then pointed to the two children in the corner who were still chattering away, "Those two?"

Bai Hao glanced at the two children, and they immediately ran over.

Chi Wei lay sprawled on the sofa, blinking his big eyes as he looked at Qin Nan. "Brother Nan, I'm the chubby ball from before. I'm the mythical beast Chiwen. My name is Chi Wei, the 'Wei' of 'majestic'!"

Qin Nan's mind went blank for a moment, then he remembered that the ridge beasts on the roof of his house were Chiwen, one on each side, with a dragon's head and a fish's body, one of the nine sons of the dragon, good at swallowing, and preventing water from flowing away.

Pi Yuan swallowed the rat food in his mouth and smiled at Qin Nan. "Hello, Brother Nan. I am Pi Xiu. My name is Pi Yuan, Pi as in fur and Yuan as in wall."

Qin Nan looked at the two children staring at him with bright eyes, and felt less afraid. Divine beasts were better than ghosts and dead people.

Moreover, these mythical beasts all seem to be auspicious creatures, protecting peace, warding off evil, and ensuring the safety of the home. With this thought in mind, Qin Nan felt much better.

Qin Nan: "Stop eating the rat food, I just bought some snacks, eat those instead!"

Chi Wei and Pi Yuan were taken aback, then looked at Bai Hao with great joy. Bai Hao nodded, and the two little ones immediately ran to the table and started eating.

Bai Hao sat down. "Can you accept that?"

Qin Nan closed her eyes. "Can't I do anything?"

Bai Hao: "It won't matter."

Qin Nan: "Boss, I want to resign."

Bai Hao: "Oh, really? That's a pity. I was planning to double your salary after you became a full-time employee. If you leave, I'll have to find someone else."

Qin Nan: "Ah! I remember now, we seem to have guests coming this afternoon. I'll go prepare tea and snacks."

Bai Hao: "It's already evening, and where did these guests come from?"

Qin Nan: "I just wanted to express my determination to stay!"

Bai Hao: "......"

Qin Nan is only paying off the initial portion of his debt now. In two more months, he will have to pay even more in mortgage payments. To be honest, he can't find a job that's easier and pays better than what he has now. Moreover, his debt payments are subject to interest. If he gives up, he really doesn't know where he'll find a job to pay off his debts.

Even if he took on multiple jobs like before, there was always a limit to it. He preferred life here to that.

Of course, to sum it up, he's just poor. The main problem is that the house was sold to someone else. Otherwise, he could have collected rent. But if Bai Hao hadn't bought it, he wouldn't have had the money to manage it, and renting it out wouldn't have been easy. Overall, he's actually in the best situation right now.

After careful consideration, Qin Nan accepted the reality before her. However, seeing the two little ones sitting obediently at the table, happily eating snacks, Qin Nan wasn't afraid.

To put it bluntly, they are two children. As for Bai Hao, Qin Nan smiled and said he was a rather gluttonous person with a good-looking appearance, but he was also very childish.

Qin Nan looked at Bai Hao and said, "Can you completely transform into a human? It's easy to scare people like this."

Bai Hao got up and patted the two little guys on the head, and then the dragon horns and tails disappeared. Qin Nan looked at the two children wearing towels, got up and took a soft measuring tape to measure them, and then ordered a batch of clothes online.

Then I went upstairs and got two of my own long-sleeved shirts for them to wear. The shirts were long enough to cover their legs, and the sleeves could be rolled up. They could wear them like this for now; it was better than being naked.

After finishing everything, Qin Nan put the snacks she bought into the refrigerator, leaving the food for them. Bai Hao also took a few bags to eat, but he didn't really like them and didn't eat much. He gave the rest to the two children.

Bai Hao felt nauseous after just one glance at the frozen whole chicken when Qin Nan put things away, wondering if it was still safe to cook.
