Chapter 341 Awakening the Cold-Hearted Head of the Family (Part Twelve)

Seeing Ning Yuze's gloomy face, Shi Lan dared not say anything and quickly stepped forward, saying, "How could that be? I'm just a little flattered."

Ning Yuze gave a faint "hmm" through his nose, picked up his chopsticks, and said, "Then let's eat quickly."

Shi Lan glanced at him and saw that he looked calm, which reassured her a little.

After sitting down, she looked around at the dishes and suddenly moved the steamed fish and steamed crab with egg that were placed at the front.

Ning Yuze was reaching for a fish with his chopsticks when Shi Lan's movement caused his chopsticks to just barely glide past the edge.

Ning Yuze turned to look at her.

Shi Lan looked up and met those dark, clear eyes, only then realizing that her actions had been somewhat rash. She quickly smiled and explained, "You have injuries, and these things are considered 'heating' foods, so it's best not to eat them."

Ning Yuze glanced aloofly at the dishes on the table, then looked up at her.

Although he didn't say anything, Shi Lan somehow felt that he was asking her to pick out the parts she could eat.

Shi Lan picked through the dishes on the table, and finally pushed the braised baby bok choy, celery with peanuts, and a pot of clear chicken soup in front of him.

Although I know that most of the dishes here are not suitable for him, it is really too much to leave only two out of seven or eight dishes, especially since they took his favorite braised pork out so far away.

Following his gaze, Shi Lan glanced at the glistening, appetizing braised pork and said, "There are chili peppers in this, you can't eat it now."

Ning Yuze pursed his lips, his good mood ruined.

Seeing him like this, Shi Lan felt a little uneasy. She was also puzzled as to why the butler, knowing that he was injured, did not instruct the kitchen to prepare some food for the injured.

"How about I go to the kitchen later and tell them to make more food that you can eat tonight?"

Ning Yuze lowered his eyelids and said somewhat dejectedly, "No need, this is fine."

Shi Lan glanced at him, unsure of his intentions, but seeing his state, she couldn't bear it and said, "Why don't you make do for now? I'll make you some sweet porridge after everyone else has left."

"Hmm," Ning Yuze's voice remained calm, his lowered eyes curving slightly, and he used a spoon to cover the smile on his lips.

After lunch, Shi Lan packed her things and took them downstairs. Remembering her promise to Ning Yuze, she prepared some black beans and black sesame seeds, which are good for replenishing blood. Just then, Wen Jiao came over, saw what she was preparing, and asked, "What are you doing with these?"

Remembering Ning Yuze's reluctance to let others know his condition, Shi Lan subconsciously said, "I've heard that eating these things regularly can slow down aging, and I'd like to try it."

Wen Jiao glanced at it a few times and asked suspiciously, "Does this thing even work?"

Shi Lan laughed and said, "Whether it works or not, it's never a bad thing to give it a try."

Wen Jiao turned her head away uninterestedly and said, "Alright then, you drink it first. If it works well, I'll drink it too."

Shi Lan responded and prepared to leave.

Wen Jiao quickly followed behind and said, "Tell me the truth, is the young master really not handsome?"

Shi Lan tilted her head and teased, "This is a matter of opinion. Even if he's handsome, what does it have to do with you? Do you want to be Cinderella riding in a pumpkin carriage? Be careful, the butler will give you a hard time if he finds out."

Wen Jiao chuckled and hooked her arm around Shi Lan's shoulder, "I was just curious. If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. Why scare me like that?"

Shi Lan smiled faintly. She didn't care whether people were curious or not. All she knew was that no matter who it was, anyone who wanted to make a move on Ning Yuze was absolutely out of the question.

Ignoring the gazes behind her, Shi Lan straightened her back and went up to the third floor.

After tidying up the third floor, Shi Lan estimated the time and returned to the kitchen. A moment later, she carried two bowls of soft, sweet black bean, walnut, and lily porridge upstairs.

In the study with the door half open, Ning Yuze was looking at something on the computer. When he saw what she was holding, he automatically closed the screen and walked over.

Shi Lan placed the tray on the coffee table next to her and put the bowl in front of Ning Yuze, who was already sitting on the sofa.

"Try it. If you like it, I'll make it again tomorrow."

Ning Yuze stirred the perfectly thick porridge with a spoon, took a small sip, and said, "I didn't expect you to have this skill."

Seeing his aloof and indifferent demeanor, Shi Lan snorted inwardly, thinking to herself that she knew much more than he did. But she mimicked his expression, taking a sip of porridge with the same nonchalant air, and said, "There's a lot more you haven't thought of."

Ning Yuze paused, then sipped the porridge in his spoon: "That's true. For example, I never imagined that I was actually your long-lost friend."

Shi Lan coughed and covered her mouth, burying her face in the bowl.

Ning Yuze leaned slightly towards her and said, "Perhaps it's because I'm old and my memory isn't so good."

Shi Lan's face was so hot it could fry an egg, especially when the elegant, light fragrance wafted over her nose, making all her muscles tense up.

Ning Yuze seemed to particularly enjoy seeing her like this. His handsome face was smiling, and he moved even closer, his voice becoming even more mellow. "Please help me recall how we met, Miss Shi."

Shi Lan awkwardly backed away, but while she could avoid Ning Yuze's body, she couldn't escape his ever-present scent. After several attempts, Shi Lan glared at him in embarrassment and anger, "Alright, I admit I was just making things up. Should I go to the housekeeper to correct it?"

Seeing that she was really angry, Ning Yuze quickly sat up straight and shook his head, saying, "This is a secret between the two of us, so there's no need to bother the housekeeper anymore."

Shi Lan slurped her porridge with a huff and a huff, feeling that she was doing all this for nothing.

Ning Yuze stole a glance at her, feeling a little wronged.
