Rebirth Revenge: Goddess, Hacked Again

A tragic childhood under the shadow of a stepfather, a desolate love that could never be, a clown-masked man in a late-night alley, the crisp moonlight, and the cold blade.

Oh, and the waiter...

Chapter Ten: The "Rogue" as Described by the Waiter

"It's alright, look, it's him." Wang Shen took out his phone and placed Zheng Wu's photo in front of the waiter.

"Hey! I thought it was someone else! Turns out it's just 'the rascal'." The waiter's smile returned instantly, and his expression seemed to show more interest in conversation, as well as a hint of disdain for Zheng Wu.

Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin exchanged a glance. Wang Shen continued, "Are you very familiar with this person?"

"I wouldn't say we're familiar with each other, but he is definitely a regular customer at our store."

"Did I just hear you call him a 'scoundrel'?" Wang Shen repeated the waiter's words in confusion.

“Yeah! That’s what everyone who knows him calls him. Brother, you’re really unlucky. I don’t think you’ll get the money he owes you back, otherwise, why would he be called a ‘scoundrel’?” The waiter grinned, shook his head, and looked at Wang Shen with a death sentence in his eyes, full of sympathy.

"This can't be serious. How could someone be so shameless?" Wang Shen feigned disappointment while also looking at the waiter with wide eyes, pretending to be incredulous.

"How could it not be like that? He comes here to drink, and he always ends up running up a tab. We've chased him away a few times, but he's a 'scoundrel.' He's not afraid of being beaten or scolded, and he even affects our business. Fortunately, he usually pays off his drinks, so our boss turns a blind eye and doesn't bother with him too much. However, he has one rule when he comes to our shop: he has to pay first before we serve his drinks."

"Looks like the money I lent him is really out of reach." Wang Shen frowned and sighed, taking a large gulp of his beer. "However," Wang Shen looked up at the waiter, his tone becoming sincere yet mournful, "I still want to try. After all, he still owes me quite a bit of money. So, could you please tell me roughly when he'll be coming to our restaurant?"

"Him? He's right there." The waiter pointed to the bar. Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin looked in the direction the waiter was pointing and saw a burly figure standing in front of the bar. Beside this burly figure, there seemed to be a woman standing very close to him.

"Who is that woman?" Wang Shen pointed to the woman next to Zheng Wu.

"Her name is 'Sang,' she's Zheng Wu's woman, a bar hostess. We don't know why she'd be with a man like that. Even if she's not good enough, she should at least find a rich guy to make some money from, right? But I heard that Zheng Wu has spent a lot of money on her. You know, that's how relationships are; with money, feelings come."

"Oh? Where did Zheng Wu get his money from?" Wang Shen asked, puzzled.

"I don't know about that. Oh? Maybe he borrowed money from you and then used it on this woman." After saying that, the waiter couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Alright, I can't chat with you two any longer, I have to go to work." With that, the waiter took the tray and left Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin's booth.

"What are you planning to do next?" Xu Xiaolin asked, her eyes fixed on the burly figure.

"Just go find him."

What if he doesn't cooperate?

"Then we'll have to forcibly take him back to the police station. He is indeed a key suspect in this case, and I reported this to my superiors a long time ago."

"The woman next to him might know something." Xu Xiaolin shifted her gaze slightly and focused it on the woman.

“Then let’s invite her to cooperate with the investigation,” Wang Shen said, taking a sip of his beer. “However, if they resist or try to escape, I’ll go and arrest Zheng Wu. You just watch from the sidelines.”

"It's alright, I'll take care of that woman." Xu Xiaolin picked up her mojito and took a leisurely drag. "Don't forget, we used to learn karate together."

Wang Shen looked at Xu Xiaolin, shrugged, sighed helplessly, and then downed the rest of his beer in one gulp. He paused for a few seconds, then stood up from the sofa and walked towards Zheng Wu. He walked behind Zheng Wu. Zheng Wu didn't notice Wang Shen's presence, preoccupied with flirting with the woman beside him. Wang Shen patted Zheng Wu's shoulder and called out, "Zheng Wu."
