Chapter 123 New Year

Duan Linzhou quickly took off the pajamas that were the same style as his own that Lin Hu was wearing, and then took a sofa out of his backpack.

The sofa is a two-seater; it was an extra one I bought when I originally bought a sofa for the living room.

Duan Linzhou glanced at the others who had regained their senses and were approaching them.

He exchanged a glance with Wen Mofei, who then looked at Lin Hu and gestured for everyone else to turn their backs.

Duan Linzhou then brought out another set of pajamas and a blanket for Lin Hu to change into.

Lin Hu watched Duan Linzhou's series of actions with curiosity, and couldn't help but be a little dazed.

Something came to mind...

So this is how the others felt when he pulled out something unexpected.

Lin Hu finally understands that feeling now.

After changing into his pajamas and wrapping himself in a blanket, he nestled on the sofa, while Duan Linzhou used his supernatural abilities to dry his coat.

During this time, he also took the time to hand Lin Hu a bowl of ginger soup and warmed Lin Hu's hands with his supernatural abilities.

"Brother Duan, you're so kind."

Lin Huzhen said sincerely, but his voice already carried a hint of weariness. It was almost midnight, and his biological clock had long since reached midnight.

Duan Linzhou sat down next to him, and Lin Hu leaned towards him, resting his head on Duan Linzhou's shoulder.

Others noticed and quietly looked away, their minds filled with a myriad of thoughts.

Wen Mofei secretly glanced at Liu Xu without making a sound. Liu Xu seemed to sense it as well. The two looked at each other inadvertently, then awkwardly looked away.

Sun Xiaoxiao, who was standing to the side, was originally shouting "I'm so excited!" to her sisters, so she naturally noticed Liu Xu's change in mood.

She glanced at Wen Mofei, who was scratching his head, turning around, and grinning like he was worthless.

She smiled knowingly, then cheekily bumped her best friend's arm and whispered something.

No one knows what they were talking about, but Liu Xu reached out and patted Sun Xiaoxiao, her ear tips secretly turning blush.

Wang Fuqing was the only one there, lost in thought. He was planning the location of his chosen shop on the island, intending to open it as soon as the project was completed.

"Tired?" Duan Linzhou asked, his hands still busy.

Perhaps it was the intense resentment in the black merman's eyes from inside the iron cage that made Lin Hu ask, "What do we do now?"

Duan Linzhou glanced at the black merman in the cage, then turned his private message back to Lin Hu and said calmly, "I've contacted Dad. He'll bring people over to take him away later. We'll go back to rest after the handover."

Duan Linzhou reached out and stroked Lin Hu's already dried hair, then continued drying his coat, but his thoughts were elsewhere.

Half an hour later, Duan Bohai arrived with his men to pick up the mermaid and transport her back.

Duan Linzhou draped the dried coat over the sleeping Lin Hu, then carried him and followed the rest of the group toward the dock.

"Knock knock, knock knock? Wake up, it's almost noon."

Knock knock?!

That's his nickname. How could anyone know that name...?

In his daze, Lin Hu heard a gentle voice calling him and even felt someone gently patting his shoulder.

He recognized the voice; it even felt like it came from a long time ago.

Lin Hu desperately wanted to open his eyes to see the owner of the voice. His eyelids twitched several times before he suddenly opened them, and his body sprang to his feet.

"Oh my! You scared me, kid." A woman in a red coat with fashionable curly hair said, sitting on the edge of Lin Hu's bed.

The woman, in her thirties, gently touched her chest, as if calming her frightened heart.

Lin Hu turned his head to look at the source of the sound, his face immediately filled with a mixture of joy and excitement.

"mom!"

Lin Hu smiled, disregarding the fact that he was already a man, and threw himself into the woman's arms.

"Hey, you, you child, were you having a nightmare?" The woman was shocked by Lin Hu's sudden action and was about to pull him away to lecture him.

But when she felt the warm liquid on her shoulder, she stopped and gently patted Lin Hu's back to comfort him.

"Dongdong, tomorrow is New Year's Eve, and we still need to go grocery shopping. You have to get up. You promised Mingming that you would go grocery shopping with us today." The woman spoke to Lin Hu in a gentle voice.

Lin Hu's mind flashed back to his promise to the woman yesterday, and he felt a little embarrassed as he let go of her. When he saw that the shoulders of the woman's festive red coat were stained a deeper shade by his tears, he felt even more embarrassed.

The woman glanced at her shoulder, then at the little boy who was wringing his fingers with his head down.

"Alright, hurry up and get ready. I'm going next door to call your Aunt Qin." The woman didn't scold him. After saying that, she left Lin Hu's room and closed the door behind her.

Lin Hu stared at the closed door, feeling as if he had forgotten something.

When he first woke up, he felt he remembered things clearly, but now he couldn't remember anything at all.

"Strange, why can't I remember?" Lin Hu scratched the back of his head, stopping himself from thinking about it, muttering to himself.

Lin Hu lifted the covers and suddenly felt that the bed was a bit too high; his legs couldn't even reach the slippers on the floor.

He didn't think much of it and stretched out his foot to reach for the slippers.

She slipped on her slippers, went to the closet to pick out clothes, changed, and came out of the room.

There were three people sitting in the living room, one of whom was his mother, Lin Jingyue.

Lin Hu took Lin Jingyue's surname. Originally, his surname was Liu, but after Lin Jingyue divorced, he followed her and changed his surname.

The person chatting intimately with Lin Jingyue on the sofa was Aunt Qin; the two had known each other since junior high school.

The other little boy was Aunt Qin's son, named Xu Yiling. He was a lively boy and was about to come over to say hello the moment he saw Lin Hu, but after glancing at the two adults, he obediently sat back down.
