Summary: I was reborn, carrying the strongest swordsman account from the game "God Venerate," but the scenario of easily dominating another world did not happen. After all, what does the ga...
In the early morning, Wu Yu ate breakfast listlessly. After Jack left last night, some servants came over one after another. Because he was worried about another accident, he even left two servants to keep watch for him at night.
But this did not stop Wu Yu from being terrified all night, and he finally couldn't bear it any longer and fell into a deep sleep.
Moreover, Wu Yu's pain didn't stop there. Because of his twisted neck, he had to stand up straight like a zombie and keep his head completely still, which was extremely uncomfortable.
That damn trash assassin. Wu Yu couldn't help but curse in his heart again.
"Wu Yu, I need to go out for a bit after dinner. Will you come with me?" Jack suddenly looked over and invited him.
“Okay.” Wu Yu agreed without much thought. After all, he had nothing to do here, and most importantly, Jack was the strongest fighter around him. Only by staying by his side could Wu Yu feel at ease.
Benson didn't come to have lunch with Wu Yu and the others this morning. Jack said it was because he accidentally fell and injured his leg when he got out of bed last night, and he's resting in bed now.
What a coincidence!
Wu Yu used all his strength in his last kick last night, which would have been enough to injure an ordinary person, but even without thinking, he knew that the person who came to assassinate him last night was definitely not Benson himself.
It's incredibly stupid for someone in a position of power to personally do the dirty work. If it were to ensure a one-hit kill, that would be understandable, but last night's assassin was ridiculously weak.
Or was Benson deliberately trying to mislead himself into believing that a third party was present?
No, there's too little information. It's simply not enough to help me determine which hypothesis is correct. I'll have to investigate the truth myself later.
"Wu Yu, let's go." Jack called out to the absent-minded Wu Yu after finishing his meal, and then left first.
"Coming." Wu Yu replied, deciding to put the matter aside for the time being. Knowing Jack as he did, he knew he wouldn't stand idly by.
······
"Young Master Jack, you're back."
"Young Master Jack, welcome home. Here's some freshly harvested fruit, please have a taste."
Unexpectedly, Jack was so popular here. As soon as they entered the town, everyone who saw them greeted them warmly, and some merchants even offered them their goods, but Wu Yu politely declined them all.
"Heh, looks like you're quite popular. Benson's position here is unstable; he definitely can't beat you," Wu Yu said excitedly from the side.
"Popular sentiment?" Jack listened, but showed no excitement whatsoever. "Do you think the struggle for titles is the same as the struggle for dynastic supremacy? The common people have no power to interfere with His Majesty the Emperor's orders."
"But at least you have so many people supporting you, don't you?" Wu Yu was taken aback by Jack's retort, and his voice lost some of its confidence.
“Support me? No, they’re only supporting Jack Russell,” Jack said in a rather sarcastic tone.
"Aren't you Jack Russell?" Wu Yu was a little confused.
“I am an individual named Jack Russell, and what they support is a name called Jack Russell. I don’t even know the names of most people in this town, and very few have even spoken to me. They know nothing about me except my name. But do you know why I’m so popular?”
Jack glanced at Wu Yu and said mysteriously.
"Why?" Wu Yu asked, following his lead.
"Because I lowered their taxes by half a percent," Jack revealed the secret.
Wu Yu suddenly realized that no one in this world would turn down money.
"Therefore, as long as Benson does not increase taxes after inheriting the title, they will not have any complaints. If Benson reduces taxes by half a percent, they will even immediately sing his praises. Never have excessive expectations of strangers. This is a saying I often remind myself."
Jack's voice remained calm, without regret or complaint; these were simply truths he had long understood.
Wu Yu stood frozen in place, staring blankly at Jack's retreating figure.
For the first time, Wu Yu sensed a kind of loneliness from Jack's thin body, a kind of resolute march forward as if the world had been pushed to the opposite side of him.
The question that had been lingering in Wu Yu's mind resurfaced once again.
Since you have never believed in the goodness of human nature, why did you choose to embody justice?
But Wu Yu didn't ask, because he knew that there were some things he couldn't get answers to from Jack; he had to witness them for himself.
Before Jack had gone far, Wu Yu didn't think twice and quickly followed after him.
Jack stopped in front of a blacksmith's shop.
The blacksmith shop owner seemed to have plenty of free time. He was lying shirtless in a chair, lost in thought. He only glanced at Wu Yu and Jack when they entered before losing interest.
Wu Yu looked at the boss's muscular physique, his bronze skin radiating explosive power, and felt intimidated as soon as he got close.
"Boss, business is in session," Jack called out, tossing his money bag onto the counter.
"Little Jack, it's you again, you troublesome fellow. So, what strange request do you have this time?" This wasn't the first time the boss had done business with Jack, but he didn't really want to take Jack's orders. However, out of good professional ethics, he was prepared to listen to Jack's request first.
"My sword is broken, please fix it for me." As Jack spoke, he took out the fragments of the sword that Wu Yu had damaged from his storage ring and piled them all on the front desk.
