Chapter 9 Zhao Qinghuai is back

Feeling embarrassed, Lin Ying mainly relied on food she found in the mountains for the next few days. She would get hungry too quickly if she didn't eat staple foods, so she tried to eat as little as possible.

Li Yue'e couldn't take her with her every day; she also had her own things to do. In the days that followed, Lin Ying was busy on her own.

She got up before dawn again. Looking at the acupoints she had pricked and which were already showing signs of stress, Lin Ying finally decided to go up the mountain this afternoon to find some medicinal herbs.

She had always thought she had let go of the past, but every night she still couldn't fall asleep.

After washing her face, Lin Ying was fully awake. It was a bit early to cook now, so Lin Ying simply planted vegetable seeds in the garden, which had already been sprinkled with wood ash and turned over twice.

After finishing all that, Lin Ying went to the kitchen to make breakfast.

Her main meal consisted of taro she dug up on the mountain, a stir-fried wild vegetable dish, and rice porridge.

There will be meat at noon and in the evening; she has recently been able to catch wild rabbits and pheasants in the mountains.

Lin Ying found it quite interesting; she hadn't expected Mo Zi to have such strong wilderness survival skills. She had already gained experience following her grandfather, but it couldn't compare to Mo Zi's memory.

In short, she is now able to eat meat every few days thanks to her strength and experience, and she is quite satisfied with that.

Not only that, she also made some jerky, and she could even clean and collect the down feathers of pheasants and tan the fur of wild rabbits.

In addition to the wild vegetables and firewood she had collected during this time, Lin Ying felt that at least she was no longer eating and drinking for free at Zhao Si's place.

With that in mind, Lin Ying ate her breakfast with even greater relish.

So much so that they didn't even see Zhao Qinghuai coming in from outside.

"You're eating this? Didn't I save you a meal ticket? Why didn't you go to the cafeteria to get food?"

Looking at Zhao Qinghuai's cold expression, Lin Ying blinked and then took out a pen and paper: "I don't know where the cafeteria is, and there's nothing wrong with me being like this."

Zhao Qinghuai was initially distressed that Lin Ying was eating so much worse than before. He had promised Lin Ying's grandfather that he would take good care of her, at least ensuring that her food, clothing, and shelter were no worse than before.

Otherwise, Lin Ying's grandfather wouldn't have let her marry him.

However, when he saw that Lin Yingning would rather write on paper than speak, he instantly thought of her current situation and couldn't help but laugh.

"I haven't eaten yet, is there any left?"

Lin Ying only cooked for herself; she had a large appetite, and giving some to Zhao Qinghuai wasn't enough for her. So she simply wrote:

"That's all, but I'll make you a bowl of noodles."

When Lin Ying said that, Zhao Qinghuai felt reluctant to let her go: "I'll do it myself, you eat it."

Lin Ying then started eating without any hesitation.

Zhao Qinghuai is back. She felt she had many questions to ask him, so after dinner she wrote them down on a piece of paper.

After Zhao Qinghuai finished eating and refused Lin Ying's offer to wash the dishes, Lin Ying had no choice but to watch Zhao Qinghuai clean up the kitchen before she had time to talk to him.

After Zhao Qinghuai finished washing the dishes and tidying up the kitchen, a notebook was shoved into his arms. Looking at the questions on the notebook, Zhao Qinghuai sighed helplessly.

"Are you really not going to speak? Actually, your voice is quite nice."

However, he was met with an affirmative look from Lin Ying.

Zhao Qinghuai touched his nose, knowing Lin Ying's insistence, so he didn't say anything more, but looked at the questions on Lin Ying's notebook.

How is my grandfather now? Where is he?

"Grandpa has been sent down to the forest farm. I went to see him during this mission. Although it was a bit tough, because Grandpa knew medicine and saved a local child, no one made things too difficult for him."

Grandpa told you to take good care of yourself and not to worry about him. I'll also ask my comrades over there to help look after him, so don't worry. Because your and Grandpa's situations are quite sensitive right now, Grandpa told you not to run around for a while.

Lin Ying felt much relieved after hearing Zhao Qinghuai's words. She then gestured for Zhao Qinghuai to look at the second question.

"You discussed it with Grandpa. How long can I stay here? With my current social status, I might not be able to survive if I leave. Can you help me find someone to marry so I can settle down?"

Also, I'm currently short of money and might need to spend yours, but I can write you an IOU and I'll definitely pay you back when I have the chance.

Zhao Qinghuai was so angry at the sight of these words that he laughed again. He never dreamed this woman would become his wife. If it weren't for this incident, he would never have had the chance to marry her.

Call it taking advantage of someone's vulnerability if you will, but he seized the opportunity to negotiate with the old man and arranged the marriage while Lin Ying was unconscious. He was just afraid she would change her mind when she woke up.

He never expected that the marriage he cared so much about would become a bargaining chip for her. And what does "just marry anyone" even mean? What does she take him for? What does she take their marriage for?

"Lin Ying, let me tell you this solemnly: in my eyes, marriage is not a game. You are someone I legally married after submitting a report, and we've registered our marriage. From now on, you can only be my wife, Zhao Qinghuai's wife. Don't even think about marrying someone else!"

Also, I earn money for my wife to spend. From now on, you'll have all the money in the house, and you can spend it however you want!

Lin Ying blinked, processing Zhao Qinghuai's words, but her heart was far from calm; her pounding heart betrayed her true feelings.

With a slight tremor in his hands, Zhao Qinghuai took the notebook. Lin Ying wrote on it: "What about your childhood sweetheart?"

Zhao Qinghuai frowned as he looked at the question: "What childhood sweetheart? I don't have that. I'm a farmer's son. In my hometown, everyone my age is married, some even twice."
