As soon as I arrived at the door, I was hit by a stench that smelled of blood.

The house was a complete mess; you could call it a garbage dump.

The corner of the wall near the bedroom door was littered with bloodstained shards of glass and some broken empty wine bottles.

Xiao Xin hurriedly pulled his phone out of his bag and dialed the loan shark's number.

The unusual thing was that the number he dialed was not in service and no one answered.

He grabbed a handful of hair in frustration and kicked the wall.

Without thinking, Xiao Xin answered the phone, slid down against the wall and sat on the floor, saying "Hello" into the phone.

"Xiao Xin, why are you only answering the phone now?" Yu Muqing's voice came through the receiver.
