While undergoing a heavenly tribulation, Jian Ning was struck dead by a sudden bolt of lightning amplified a thousandfold.
In her final moments, a fragment of her soul fled with her celestial...
"Master, I'm back! I ate my fill today—two big chicken drumsticks and a whole spicy chicken carcass. It tasted amazing. Oh my god, what's this?"
Huang Fugui suddenly walked through the wall and was talking happily, but the moment he saw the husky, all the fur on his body stood on end.
"Haven't you ever seen a dog before? Why are you so surprised?" Jian Ning rolled her eyes at it.
"Is this a dog? I thought it was some kind of monster. How did it get so badly damaged, brother?" Huang Fugui said, taking two steps forward.
The husky stared at it for a moment, then suddenly bared its teeth and stood in front of Jian Ning, trembling with fear but refusing to back down an inch.
"Oh, what a good dog! Where did you get it, Master?" Huang Fugui withdrew his imposing aura, jumped onto Jian Ning's lap, and sat down, staring at the husky as he asked.
"I found it downstairs. It was seriously injured, but it could understand what I was saying and could find its way home by following my scent."
So I plan to keep it for now; this will be your little brother from now on. Jian Ning stroked Huang Fugui's soft fur. It felt so good.
"It's too ugly, I don't want it. You can keep it yourself." Huang Fugui glanced at the silly husky on the ground, looking utterly disgusted.
"It'll look better once the injury heals. Can you talk to it? Ask it what its name is." Jian Ning was too lazy to name it; it was easier to just use its old name.
Huang Fugui meowed a few times at the husky on the ground. The dog jumped up and howled excitedly.
"Keep your voice down, or people will think a wolf has broken into my house!" Jian Ning quickly stopped it.
"That idiot said it's called Dongfeng!"
"That Dongfeng? Did your original owner like playing mahjong?" Jian Ning thought the name didn't sound very good.
The husky tilted its head and nodded.
"Alright, from now on we'll call it Dongfeng. You go and rest, and get to know your boss better. I'm going to the Immortal Abode. Fugui, don't bully it, keep an eye on the formation for me, and call me if anything happens."
"Yes, Master, go ahead. I'll train it properly." Huang Fugui jumped off Jian Ning's lap and took a step forward, while Dongfeng took a step back.
It retreated to the corner, curling up into a small ball. Touching its wounds, it whimpered in pain.
"Huang Fugui, if you don't behave, I'll take away your chicken leg!" Jian Ning stood up and shouted, and only then did it stop.
"Master, you should go and cultivate. I was just teasing it. Please don't take it seriously. There aren't enough chicken legs to begin with. If you deduct another meal from my diet, I'll be so sad." It said, wiping its eyes with its paw.
"Alright, I'm going in. Don't cause any trouble." Jian Ning said, and then disappeared from the spot.
The immortal abode is filled with spiritual energy, making it more suitable for cultivation than the outside world.
They stayed inside for two days straight. The first revolution of the Nine Revolutions Burning Heaven Technique is relatively simple and easy to cultivate.
The second turn was much more difficult. She had been pondering it for the past two days, but had only just begun to grasp the basics.
Thankfully, Huang Fugui didn't come in to disturb her, worried that the formation would malfunction. Jian Ning quickly came out of the immortal abode and saw that the sun was high in the sky; it must be noon.
"Master, look, I've trained it well and infused it with spiritual energy, so it can cultivate now. This silly dog actually has a lightning spiritual root."
"I taught it the Lightning Blast Technique, and now it can generate a little lightning, but it's a bit weak!" Huang Fugui's tone was full of disdain.
Jian Ning was quite shocked. What kind of dog was this? This was an ordinary mortal world; this dog must have mutated.
"Dongfeng, show me a lightning blast spell. Point it this way." Jian Ning took an apple out of her spatial storage and placed it on the ground.
Dongfeng quickly stood up from the ground and began to gather his strength, causing the feathers on his neck to swell up.
After much effort, it finally managed to spit out a faint blue spark of electricity, like a tiny earthworm. It flickered in the air for a moment and then disappeared. It didn't even hit the apple on the ground.
"Not bad, pretty impressive. I'll reward you both with two chicken drumsticks each." Jian Ning wanted to laugh at the arc of electricity, but she forced it back.
We can't dampen its confidence. It's only just started practicing and it's already able to unleash an electric arc, albeit a small one, but it's still a spell, isn't it? It seems Huang Fugui is doing a good job as the older brother; the younger brother is quite capable too.
"Look at how stupid you are!" Huang Fugui looked at him with a disapproving expression. He had originally wanted to show off in front of Jian Ning, but this dog was not up to his usual standard.
Oh well, at least there are chicken legs to eat, so it wasn't a complete waste of time teaching them.
He took the chicken leg that Jian Ning handed him and ate it in big bites.
Dongfeng was quite sensible; he only ate one chicken leg, then pushed the other one towards Huang Fugui before sitting down and watching with drool in his eyes.
"Dongfeng, you don't need to feed it, eat it yourself. Huang Fugui, you've gotten so fat already! If you keep eating like this, you'll become a ball!"
Huang Fugui, who was about to go eat a chicken leg, stopped in his tracks after hearing Jian Ning's words: "Master, what's wrong with me being a little chubby? Anyway, no one knows who I am."
Although he said that, he didn't eat it and instead threw the chicken leg to Dongfeng.
After Jian Ning finished eating, she re-bandaged the wound. This dog's recovery ability is really strong.
In just two days, new granulation tissue has begun to grow from the stitched wound. It seems that not only its head has mutated, but its body's healing ability has also greatly improved.
I wonder if it has any other abilities. It's a pity that it can't understand its own barks and can't communicate like Huang Fugui.
"Master, I'm going to play with Tian Tian. You can watch this silly dog!"
Huang Fugui is a restless person. He's been feeling restless for the past two days, staring at the array plate without getting a chance to move it. Now that he saw Jian Ning come out, he thought he'd go out for a stroll.
"Okay, go ahead, but don't leave this building!" Jian Ning instructed it. Suddenly, she felt the light in the room dim. Looking up, she saw that the clouds outside the window were almost pressing down on her.
"What's going on? The weather changed so fast, is it going to rain again?" Just as she walked to the window, a clap of thunder suddenly rang out, startling her.
She's not afraid of anything else, but thunder is truly terrifying. It always reminds her of the moment she was struck by lightning and killed.
After the thunder, large raindrops began to pelt against the window. It was raining quite heavily.
In just over ten minutes, you could see that the low-lying areas downstairs had started to accumulate water.
"Xiao Ning, Xiao Ning, are you there?" Jian Anping's voice rang out on the walkie-talkie.
