Infected at the start and exiled to the City of Strange Species.
Octopus extended its tentacles: What is this? Let's suck it!
Goat extended its hooves: What is this? Let's suck ...
Upon entering the house, Gu Li was immediately dazzled by its magnificent and religiously-inspired decor. Her expression shifted from astonishment to numbness, before finally settling into an eerie calm.
Without looking to the side, she stepped over a pure gold statue of the Virgin Mary, tilting her head to avoid the cross that jutted out from the side.
The two walked past a long corridor filled with paintings of white eagles and finally stopped in front of a door at the end of the corridor. Jack stepped forward and knocked gently twice.
"Please come in."
Gu Li's eyes flashed with surprise. The leader of the White Eagles was actually a woman. She then followed Jack inside.
Sitting behind the large desk was a young woman in a sharp suit, her black hair neatly combed from front to back and flowing smoothly down her back.
She wore a well-fitting suit with a crisp black overcoat, and her hands, clad in black patent leather gloves, were playing with a photograph.
When the woman saw them come in and put down the photos, she stood up, smiled, and extended her hand to her: "Nice to meet you. I am Caroline, the person in charge of White Eagle."
"Welcome to White Eagle, Miss Gu Li."
Gu Li gazed into her dark pupils, reached out and gently grasped her hand. She asked with certainty, "You recognize me?"
Caroline laughed again, pointing to the table and chairs by the window: "We need to understand things first before you let people into the lair, right?"
Gu Li sat down opposite her, a smile playing on her lips, and said, "That's not wrong."
She extended her hand again to introduce herself: "Nice to meet you, I am Gu Li, commander of the 11th Legion of the Federation."
Caroline's smile deepened, and this time she took off one glove and shook hands with Gu Li.
Jack, standing by the door, stared in astonishment, his gaze falling incredulously on Gu Li, who was wearing a long black dress.
Today, her long, light blonde hair was loosely tied back, and her pale skin and light hair shone even brighter under her black dress.
Even though her long dress was stained with liquid and clung to her body in a disheveled state, it did not diminish her elegance and beauty in the slightest. Her sky-like eyes were incredibly clear.
He wouldn't be surprised if she were a pampered young lady from some noble family.
Yet this very Gu Li is actually the regimental commander of the 11th Army of the Federation. Wasn't General Henry defeated because of her a few days ago?!
She was a military officer, and a very capable one at that.
Jack vaguely thought that it was a good thing he hadn't succeeded in kidnapping Miss Gu Li and bringing her back, otherwise it would have been very difficult to handle.
Caroline leaned back into the large sofa chair, the red velvet seat perfectly matching her figure: "I heard you brought Joel back?"
Gu Li nodded: "And her child, Georgia."
Caroline was clearly not very concerned about Georgia's situation. She asked about Joel briefly before steer the conversation in another direction.
"I guess you've come here to see someone?"
Gu Li made a puzzled expression without showing any emotion.
His sky-blue eyes stared blankly at the woman opposite him.
Anyway, most of the people she was looking for had already been sent away by Henry. Syed and Alfoseny were capable of protecting themselves, so finding them was only a matter of time.
The woman opposite him, dressed more like a member of the mafia than a religious leader, suddenly smiled, leaned forward, and lifted Gu Li's chin with one hand.
"We don't have much time left, so let's stop playing guessing games."
Gu Li calmly met Caroline's gaze.
Caroline's red lips moved slightly: "White Eagle has something they want to cooperate with you on. It's a common goal of ours, and I don't think it will be too difficult to discuss it."
Gu Li blinked, her light golden eyelashes drooping down to obscure the expression in her eyes.
Caroline: "In exchange, I can help you rescue those two. By the way, they will be returning to Mother Goddess's embrace after tonight."
Gu Li quickly looked up at her, her voice tense: "What do you know?"
This office appears to have been converted from a bedroom, with one part serving as an office and the other half as a lounge, separated by a light-colored sheer curtain.
A gust of wind blew past the window, lifting the curtains slightly, and Gu Li suddenly met the gaze of a pair of unfocused green eyes.
"Bang!"
Gu Li suddenly stood up, the sudden movement knocking over the chair behind her. Before Jack could react, she had already disappeared from the spot.
Although she was prepared, Gu Li couldn't help but widen her pupils and freeze in place when she saw the scene inside the gauze curtain.
Inside the lounge were the missing Saide and Alfoseni. Their silver and black military uniforms had been torn into strips, revealing the young men's strong and handsome chest muscles.
However, the numerous scars covering it completely erased that lingering charm.
Gu Li's shocked gaze fell on the top of the two people's heads, where two furry gray ears trembled slightly as the two struggled.
The huge tail, bound by ropes, struggled desperately to break free.
The two had no human reason in their eyes, and they roared threateningly at everything around them, including Gu Li.
Gu Li's expression gradually turned serious as she asked Caroline, who had slowly approached from behind, "What happened to them?"
Caroline looked a little embarrassed and touched her nose: "They were locked up together by the Red Bees and werewolves, yes, the werewolves you're thinking of."
"Tonight is the night of the full moon. The moment the moonlight shines down, they will completely transform into mindless, bloodthirsty monsters."
Gu Li's gaze remained fixed on the two people who looked pained, his emotions unreadable. However, his hands, hanging by his sides, gradually tightened, and thin streams of bright red liquid seeped from between his fingers.
Seemingly sensing the sweet, bloody scent in the air, their eyes gradually turned red, their frantic gazes fixed on Gu Li's right hand.
Saide opened his mouth and let out an involuntary growl, revealing his sharper canines, and saliva uncontrollably dripped down the corners of his lips.
A struggle flashed in Alfoseni's unfocused eyes, but he was ultimately defeated by his surging bestiality and suddenly pupated towards Gu Li.
Jack stepped forward at the right moment, blocking Gu Li's way: "Be careful, Miss Gu Li, they are already contagious."
Gu Li's brows furrowed tightly as he looked at Caroline with his blue eyes.
Caroline immediately raised her hand: "We just happened to save them. Once infected, the only way is to kill the previous source of infection."
“Or… suppress them. I know you are the Child of Light, but that alone won’t work. Grantham’s specialties need to be handled by professionals.”
Gu Li's lips tightened into a straight line as she turned and walked towards the door: "Where did you find them?"
Caroline grabbed her hand quickly, saying helplessly, "You're planning to go there now?"
“Red bee nests are hard to find. We should try to find more doctors to suppress the pollution in his body.”
At this moment, a hint of thuggishness appeared on the White Eagle leader's face: "Red Bee is hard to find. Even if the doctor whose name is known is under tight protection, how could we not find him?"
