No system, inter...
After smashing through the door, the tanker truck didn't slow down. It carried half the door and the security guard's flesh and blood with it until its front end struck the stairs in front of the building. The entire truck slid to one side and began to roll repeatedly, finally coming to a complete stop when it hit the first floor of the building, its deformed front half wedged into the lobby.
The tank was deformed by the rolling crush, and the hard stone of the staircase had nicked its side, allowing gasoline to ooze out. Then the bomb pre-installed under the tank detonated, the full tank of gasoline greatly enhancing the explosion's power, and the main entrance of the Union Buildings was instantly engulfed in flames.
Everyone's attention was drawn to the huge explosion and the flames shooting into the sky. The flames produced by the burning gasoline completely engulfed the entrance to the first floor of the building. Due to the power outage, the fire protection system in the building was completely paralyzed.
After a brief moment of shock, the survivors quickly gathered the injured around them and began to take them out of the fire, while those trapped on the first floor began to move towards the back door.
Everyone was so busy at this moment that no one noticed that several people in electrician uniforms had sneaked into the building. They came to the back of the building and went up along the fire escape against the crowd until they reached the 20th floor.
Because of the darkness, people who passed by them hurriedly did not notice the unfamiliar faces of these people.
Ten minutes later, the team reached the 20th floor. Due to the city's power outage, information transmission within the building was delayed, and the higher up they went, the more confused people became. The fire escape the imposters had taken was located at the back of the building. Since the people there could only hear the initial loud bang and not see the flames, most of them were still in a state of confusion.
Liu Shasha also heard the explosion, and from where she was standing, it sounded like it happened inside the Union Building. She opened the door and saw many other people like her with their doors open, looking around with flashlights.
"Fire! Fire!" a faint voice rang out from downstairs, and Liu Shasha's face paled. She hurried back to her office and, using the light of her phone's flashlight, began sorting through the documents on her desk. These documents were primarily speech drafts and newly arrived state briefings from various countries. While they weren't classified, these briefings were time-sensitive, and she had to keep them with her so she could review them as soon as she was out of danger.
She gathered the papers together, placed them in a suitcase, and fastened the clasp.
At this moment, someone suddenly knocked on the door.
Liu Shasha went to open the door and saw by the light of her phone that it was her assistant, Alina. Alina should be a few floors below. It seemed that she rushed over as soon as she heard about the fire.
"Elena, it's you." Liu Shasha smiled easily. She turned around and picked up the suitcase. Before she could put it across her body, she heard a thud of something heavy falling to the ground behind her.
Liu Shasha turned around and saw Elena lying on the ground with her eyes closed, and several men in blue electrician uniforms standing behind her.
Liu Shasha ignored the men's identities. She dropped her suitcase and immediately went to check on Alina. She saw no obvious injuries, so she placed her fingers under her nose and felt for a pulse in her neck. She breathed a sigh of relief when she felt Alina's steady breathing and a strong, steady pulse.
"Help me get her onto the chair." Liu Shasha held up Elena and said to the man who was standing at the door. At this time, they had already walked in. There were five people in total. Their faces were buried in the shadows of the mobile phone light and their expressions could not be seen clearly.
"There's nothing to worry about, she just fainted." The man's tone was playful, and Liu Shasha's ominous feeling grew even more intense. This ominous feeling had been lingering in her heart since she saw the men, and now she finally confirmed the source of this feeling.
She saw a pistol with a silencer on the leading man's phone, with the black muzzle pointing at her.
"Time is urgent, please come with us."
"What do you want?" Liu Shasha struggled to put Elena down on her chair, then took a step to the side.
The man said nothing. He closed the door and gestured to the others. The remaining four people then approached. They pulled out a flashlight and placed it vertically on the table, the bulb pointing upward. The beam hit the white ceiling and scattered around, dimming the room to barely enough brightness to see clearly.
Two people began to use the light to tie Elena to the chair, and the other two stood behind Liu Shasha. They just stood there with their hands crossed, but Liu Shasha knew that if she made any movement, she would be immediately controlled.
She could only watch as they tied Elena up tightly and stuffed a rectangular box into the gap between the ropes and Elena's body.
"This is a bomb." The man holding the pistol took out a remote control from his waist with an extendable antenna on it.
"As soon as I press it, boom—" the man made an explosion gesture. "Don't worry, it's not very powerful. It's just enough to blow this house up."
"What exactly do you want?" Liu Shasha asked her question again.
"Please cooperate with me and come with me. Our boss wants to talk to you about something." The man's tone was calm.
"As long as you cooperate with us and don't do anything tricky, I can guarantee your safety." He then nodded at Elena, who was still in a coma, and said, "The same goes for that lady."
"We don't have much time, let's go once we're done."
They put another piece of tape over Alina's mouth, and then the man in the lead pushed the office door open. He didn't seem worried about being discovered, and in fact, there was no one in the corridor. Only a man in a blue electrician's uniform could be vaguely seen standing in the corner.
Pushed by someone behind her, Liu Shasha stumbled out of the door and was then surrounded by five people as they walked downstairs. They moved so fast that Liu Shasha almost had to jog to keep up.
Suddenly, the man in front stopped. Liu Shasha bumped into his back before she could react. She subconsciously reached out to support his back, feeling the strange touch on her palm. She realized that these men were wearing bulletproof vests under their uniforms.
"Shh..." the man turned around and whispered. She couldn't see the man's movements, but she knew that he must have made a gesture to keep quiet.
Soon, the sound of a noisy crowd came from the corner downstairs. A group of UN officials who had just packed up their documents began to evacuate with large and small bags. Everyone walked in a hurry and soon walked away.
