Chapter 162 Production Line
Family compound
At the entrance of the courtyard
Zhang Xia was holding the arm of Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother, speaking with a smile on her face.
Gu Yihan stopped her bicycle and happened to see this scene. She saw Zhang Xia look up at her and give a shy smile.
Why aren't you coming in?
Grandma Gu opened the courtyard gate, saw her granddaughter standing at the door, and asked in confusion.
Gu Yihan smiled and said, "Grandma, we're so in sync! I just got to the door and you came out."
Grandma Gu glanced at her with amusement and said with a smile, "Hurry up and go home."
Gu Yihan smiled and nodded, then pushed her bicycle straight into the courtyard.
When Grandma Gu closed the door, she glanced at Zhang Xia, who immediately shrank back in fright.
I felt instantly uncomfortable. Was I some kind of monster? Did they think I could eat her up or something?
Listening to her daughter-in-law's soft flattery, Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother was particularly pleased with Zhang Xia, and her mood improved considerably.
Seeing that Grandma Gu was about to close the door, she smiled and praised, "Sister Gu, your Xiao Han is so filial!"
Grandma Gu loves hearing others praise her granddaughter; she smiles so broadly her eyes disappear, and she doesn't even close the door.
Walking up to Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother, he boasted, "That's right, no other child is as good as my Xiao Han."
With a common topic, the two old ladies got more and more excited and started talking about gossip in the family compound.
When Lu Huailin returned, he was quite surprised to see Grandma Gu chatting so warmly with Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother.
"Grandma, is Xiaohan back yet?"
When Grandma Gu heard Lu Huailin's question, she realized that it was getting late.
He slapped his thigh and laughed at Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother, "Look at my memory, there's still food cooking at home."
After saying goodbye to the other person, he looked at Lu Huailin and replied, "You're back."
Gu Yihan had just finished clearing the table when Grandma Gu and Lu Huailin walked in together.
The family sat down to eat together.
Grandma Gu glanced at her granddaughter who was eating and smiled, "The wife that Deputy Battalion Commander Wang found is very honest."
"Really? Did you see Grandma?" Gu Yihan turned her head to look at her and asked with a smile.
Lu Huailin picked up a piece of fish and carefully removed the bones.
He put it in his wife's bowl: "Grandma was having a very pleasant chat with Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother at the door just now."
Gu Yihan glanced at the extra fish in the bowl and gave Lu Huailin a big smile.
Grandma Gu was extremely pleased to see Lu Huailin always putting his granddaughter first.
She chuckled and said, "Deputy Battalion Commander Wang's mother said that when he fell and injured his foot on the last trip to the city, Zhang Xia carried him to the hospital."
Upon hearing this, Lu Huailin echoed, "Deputy Battalion Commander Wang can finally relax."
He didn't know who Zhang Xia was, but judging from Grandma Gu's words, she must be a kind-hearted woman. He was even happy for Deputy Battalion Commander Wang.
At least when I get home, I can have a moment of peace and quiet instead of constant chaos.
Gu Yihan finished eating and put down her chopsticks: "That was pretty good."
Judging from what Sister Min said, there's no one good in Su Yonghong's family. Hopefully, they really don't have any bad intentions, after all, it's not easy for a bad bamboo to produce a good shoot.
When it's almost time to go to sleep
Lu Huailin had his wife sit on the bed, placed her feet on his lap, and carefully massaged them.
With a gentle press, a small dent appeared. He said with heartache, "Wife, if the child is unfilial to you in the future, I will never forgive him."
Gu Yihan glanced at Lu Huailin and smiled, "With a father as upright and honorable as you, how could the child not be filial?"
Lu Huailin was flattered by his wife's words, so he leaned over and kissed her cheek, and then became even more attentive to massaging her.
Gu Yihan watched his actions and couldn't help but feel happy. This man was like a child, he just loved being praised.
the next day
Textile factory gate
Gu Yihan rode her bicycle and had just arrived at the door.
"Officer Gu."
Hearing Secretary Jiang's shout, Gu Yihan looked at him warily: "Secretary Jiang, is there something you need?"
Secretary Jiang walked up to Gu Yihan, and after noticing her wary look, smiled: "I would like to ask you to help translate some documents."
Hearing that it was translation material, Gu Yihan finally felt relieved, especially since Secretary Jiang had tested her last time.
It was worktime, and the female workers at the entrance were coming and going. They all looked at Gu Yihan and Secretary Jiang with curiosity.
Gu Yihan glanced at the surrounding gazes and frowned: "Secretary Jiang, are you telling me to just go with you?"
Secretary Jiang glanced at Gu Yihan curiously. He was already waiting at the door, so it must be something urgent that required him to go directly to the conference room.
Gu Yihan looked troubled: "Secretary Jiang, I have to go back to the department, otherwise Officer Min and the others will think I've been absent without leave and will deduct my salary."
Secretary Jiang was stunned upon hearing this, completely baffled by Gu Yihan's thought process.
Since we're using her, it's just a matter of me saying a word.
Secretary Jiang assured him, "Director Gu, you can rest assured and come with me to the conference room. I'll let HR know then."
Knowing that Secretary Jiang could handle it, Gu Yihan parked her bicycle and followed him to the conference room.
The two pushed open the door, and Director Yang was already waiting in his office. He stood up with a smile and said, "Director Gu, we'll have to trouble you again this time."
Gu Yihan smiled and said, "It's all for the sake of the factory."
Secretary Jiang took out the production line instruction manual and handed it to Gu Yihan, explaining, "The production line that was phased out by the province needs to be reinstalled when it is transported to our factory."
Gu Yihan understood; she needed to install it according to the translated instructions.
However, what she didn't understand was that since it was a textile factory in the provincial capital that had been phased out, why not just put it back together the way it was taken apart?
Perhaps Gu Yihan's gaze was too obvious, so there was no need to say anything.
Secretary Jiang actually guessed her thoughts: "The installers in the provincial capital are only responsible for dismantling, not for reassembling."
Gu Yihan's eyes widened as she looked at Secretary Jiang curiously: "How did you know what I was thinking?"
This amused Director Yang, who had been silent, and he couldn't help but say, "Officer Gu's thoughts are written all over his face."
Upon hearing this, Gu Yihan composed herself, picked up the paper and pen on the table, and began to translate.
The only sound in the meeting room was the scratching of pens on paper.
Gu Yihan quickly translated the data on the paper, and when she was unsure about something, she had to consult the English dictionary next to her.
Just before the end of the workday, Gu Yihan finally finished translating, and stood up to stretch. She hadn't expected it to take her a whole day.
Even for lunch, to save time, Secretary Jiang went to the cafeteria to get the food, without letting her stop and rest.
Hearing the noise, Secretary Jiang looked up and saw Gu Yihan stretching: "Director Gu, are you done translating?"
Gu Yihan glared at him, annoyed. "Oh no! I never expected Secretary Jiang to be so ruthless, exploiting me, a pregnant woman, to work for you."
Secretary Jiang got up and walked to Gu Yihan's side, not caring about her tone, and said happily, "I'll recommend you for credit and get Director Yang to approve the note for you."
Gu Yihan choked on her words. A note for fabric? That makes sense. The textile factory may not have much else, but it certainly doesn't lack fabric.
Secretary Jiang smiled and said, "Officer Gu, thank you for your hard work."
Then he added with a smile, "If our factory has one more production line, we can increase our production capacity and also provide some jobs for the families of factory workers."
