Lin Baoni is truly amazing. While others are listless and drowsy after giving birth, she seems perfectly fine. Apart from her hair being soaked with sweat, which shows that she has just given birth, everything else is normal.
Her complexion was normal, her spirits were normal, and her thinking was normal. When she saw Gu Ye, she even had the energy to ask, "Have you seen the child? Who does our daughter look like? I didn't see her clearly when I was inside."
Gu Ye felt like crying and laughing at the same time. Ever since he met Lin Baoni, his life had been full of surprises.
"Alright, lie down now. I know you didn't exert much effort during childbirth, but you don't need to make such a fuss!" Dr. Yang was speechless; she had never seen a childbirth go so smoothly.
From the moment they entered the delivery room to the moment the baby was born, it didn't even take an hour. It felt like they had no chance to use their skills; none of their 18 kinds of techniques were put to use.
The doctors and nurses, though somewhat incredulous, were still happy for the patient. A smooth delivery, with both mother and child safe and sound, is a blessing. Hopefully, there will be more mothers like this in the future; it would ease their worries.
Gu Ye pushed Bao Ni back to the ward, where Grandma had already made arrangements for the little baby.
This little guy is really impatient; he came out of his mother's belly very quickly. When he was first born, he cried out twice, making quite a racket, but now he's sleeping soundly.
"Hey Ni? How are you? Does it hurt?"
"Grandma, I'm fine. I haven't felt anything yet, but the baby is out. I'm a little sleepy now, and I want to sleep for a while."
Bonnie had just given birth, and even with her good stamina, she was almost exhausted.
"Go to sleep. If you keep going like this, all the things I wanted to say will be forgotten."
Gu Ye expected to see a tired and listless Bonnie, but he was wrong...
"Gu Ye, you stay here and watch over Bao Ni and the child. I'm going back to make soup. The fish that Bao Ni's father brought yesterday is perfect for making soup."
"Grandma, should I go back? It's cold and slippery outside, I'm worried about it."
"Can you manage to stay awake?"
Grandma was a little worried!
"It's alright, I'll go home and tell my parents. If it doesn't work, I'll ask my mother to make some soup."
Gu Ye was very worried about Grandma going back alone, but he had no choice last night. However, it snowed this morning, making it very slippery.
Grandma thought about it and realized that if she slipped and fell, Bonnie would get a sore throat and her milk would dry up.
“Okay, you go home and tell Bonnie’s parents, and then have Bonnie’s mother cook the fish soup and bring it over. I’ll stay here and watch over Bonnie and the child.”
"Grandma, I'll go now. You lie down on the bed over there and rest for a while. You didn't sleep well last night."
Gu Ye pushed open the door and left. He wasn't worried about safety. This was a military family compound, and no one would dare to cause trouble here.
"Dad, Mom, Bonnie has given birth! She has a big, healthy baby girl."
Gu Ye started shouting as soon as he entered the yard. He was so excited, looking at his chubby little daughter, he could only think of one word: "Beautiful".
"Baby gave birth! When did she give birth? Why didn't you come and tell me? How is she now? Who's at the hospital?"
Upon hearing Gu Ye say that Bao Ni had given birth, Lin's mother rushed out and asked a series of questions.
"How can Gu Ye answer so many questions in one go?" Lin's father followed closely behind, looking at Gu Ye with eager eyes, wanting to know about Bao Ni's situation.
“I went to the clinic in the middle of the night last night and gave birth just before dawn today. Bao Ni is doing well and is sleeping now. The delivery was very quick; the baby was born in less than an hour. Grandma is watching over her at the hospital. I'll tell my parents when I get back, and Grandma asked Mom to make some fish soup for Bao Ni because she's worried I won't make it taste good.”
Gu Ye spoke very quickly, his excitement still lingering, and his words were incoherent. He rambled on and on, and it was unclear whether his father-in-law and mother-in-law understood him.
"Give birth so quickly, thank God, my Bonnie suffered less. You hurry back to the clinic, I'll go make some fish soup and bring it over as soon as it's ready."
"Thank you for your hard work, Mother. I'll head back right now."
Gu Ye rode his bicycle back to the clinic in the family compound. Bao Ni was still asleep, and the child was also asleep.
"Grandma, why didn't you sleep for a while?"
"You're back. I'm going to sleep now, because I'm afraid the baby will wake up and cry."
Grandma was really tired; she was stressed and sleep-deprived, and she fell asleep shortly after lying down in bed.
Gu Ye tucked the blanket around Bao Ni, then went to check on his daughter.
The doctor said the baby weighs 6 pounds 9 ounces and is very healthy. She looks rosy now, but she'll turn fairer in a few days; she'll definitely grow up to be a little beauty.
Gu Ye doesn't care about whether a woman is beautiful or not, as long as she's healthy!
Looking at the child's rosy cheeks, he still couldn't quite believe that he had a daughter, his daughter Gu Ye's daughter!
"Wow..."
Gu Ye was still immersed in the joy of having a daughter when her wailing cries brought him back to reality.
"Honey, what's wrong? Are you hungry?"
Gu Ye was stunned. He had never held such a small child before, and with his hands tied, he didn't know what to do.
"The child is awake? He might have wet himself."
Grandma was also awakened by the baby's crying and quickly got up to check on the child.
"Gu Ye, take that new basin and get some water, add some hot water, we need to wash the baby's bottom in a bit."
Bonnie woke up as well, and seeing Gu Ye standing there helplessly, she quickly gave him instructions.
"Oh? Get some water, I understand."
Gu Ye picked up the basin from under the bed and went outside.
"Grandma, did you poop or pee?"
Bonnie watched as her grandmother unwrapped the baby's blanket, unsure whether the baby had soiled himself or urinated.
"Ugh...this smell, I've had diarrhea."
