Chapter 42 Confession 04

*

Everything began to change on that early spring night when Xing Chenyu was in her third year of high school.

She was doing her homework in her room at night. After she finished her homework, Xiao Ou called her and first talked about her daily infatuation with Luo Jingqu, and even thought about how many children she would have with Luo Jingqu. When she couldn't help but roll her eyes and interrupt him, Xiao Ou smiled and said that the main purpose of returning the call was actually to tell her a ghost story she had just seen on Weibo.

She was not very timid to begin with and wanted to refuse, but Xiao Ou insisted on pulling her together and started to tell her all the ghost stories.

Because Xiao Ou spoke quickly, she didn't think much of it at first. But after she hung up the phone, brushed her teeth and lay down on the bed, she realized that the aftereffects of this ghost story... were quite strong.

The room was quiet and dark at this moment. She wrapped herself in the quilt. When she closed her eyes, she could imagine the scene described by Xiao Ou of the female ghost with her tongue sticking out coming out of the quilt. So she pushed the quilt away suddenly. After opening her eyes, she felt that the dark ceiling was like a black hole that would suck people in... Now she couldn't fall asleep no matter what.

She lay straight in bed for who knows how long, her eyes almost blinded. Finally, she couldn't bear it any longer and got out of bed in frustration. She wanted to go to the kitchen downstairs to get a glass of water to give herself courage and make herself sleepy.

The bright light from the night light in the corridor could ease her tense mood a little. She tiptoed down the stairs and finally reached the corner of the first floor, only to find someone standing in the kitchen.

Because there was no light in the kitchen, the man seemed to blend into the darkness, which scared her so much that she almost screamed.

Fortunately, the person inside heard her movements and turned on the light switch. Luo Jingqu, wearing dark gray pajamas and holding a glass of water, looked at her in surprise and amusement: "Yingying, I'm not a ghost."

"……elder brother."

She patted her chest weakly and walked in slowly.

"Can't sleep?"

He glanced at her with his eyes lowered, then took her cup and poured her some water: "Thirsty?"

When she saw him, the anxiety and tension in her head suddenly became much better. She took the water cup from his hand and sighed: "Xiao Ou told me a ghost story last night, and it was quite strong."

He supported the kitchen counter with one hand, and smiled with his lips curled: "How dare you listen to ghost stories?"

"She insisted on telling me," she said, taking two sips of water and pouting aggrievedly. "I didn't think much of it at first, but now I can't fall asleep..."

Luo Jingqu simply thought she was adorable. He raised his hand to touch her soft hair and chuckled softly, "You're almost eighteen now. You don't necessarily want to sleep with your brother just because you're afraid of ghost stories, do you?"

She lowered her head, twisted two fingers together, and said nothing.

He was just joking, and now he whispered a few words of comfort to her. Seeing that she didn't seem as nervous and scared as before, he turned off the kitchen light and prepared to take her back to her room.

As a result, when he arrived at her bedroom door, he had just said good night to her gently when she grabbed the corner of his pajamas.

In the slightly dim bedroom, the black-haired girl wore a cute little squirrel dress. Her palm-sized face was adorably fragile, and her beautiful eyes were full of attachment to him.

Luo Jingqu felt his head suddenly hot.

An unknown heat suddenly spread from his heart and spread to every part of his body. It was a feeling he had never experienced in his life.

For a moment, he felt a feeling in his heart that absolutely should not appear.

He stood there in silence for a while, but couldn't help but bend down slightly, his eyes almost level with hers.

Luo Jingqu looked at her and said in a hoarse voice, "Do you really want me to sleep with you?"

The Luo family mansion was a little too quiet at the moment.

It could also be that the atmosphere in the bedroom at that moment made this silence seem even more unsettling.

The faint light from the night light made Luo Jingqu's face hazy, but it was this play of light and shadow that made him look even more handsome.

Xing Chenyu often couldn't help but wonder why there were such handsome men in the world. No matter what she watched him do, it was a pleasure.

And such a good-looking person was so gentle and patient with her.

This special treatment made her unable to help but have a terrible thought - she wanted to take him for herself.

The night is a dormant beast.

All the secrets and emotions that are hidden deep and invisible during the day will burst out of the ground with their fangs and claws.

In this strange atmosphere, she took a deep breath and nodded gently.

Luo Jingqu's Adam's apple rolled up and down.

After a few seconds, he closed his eyes tightly, his voice becoming even hoarseer: "Okay, then I'll stay with you until you fall asleep."

She bit her lip with her pearly teeth, sniffed, and ran back to the bed in her slippers.

He paused there for a while before slowly walking to her bedside.

She pulled up the quilt obediently, rested her head on the pillow, and looked at him eagerly with her face turned sideways.

Luo Jingqu felt his heart itching more and more as she stared at him. He clenched his hands, which were hanging by his side, and whispered, "Why are you staring at me instead of sleeping?"

She blinked her eyes and said, "Brother, please sit down. I'm even more scared if you stand like this. You look like a bedside figure."

He was amused by her, then sighed and bent down to sit on the edge of her bed.

Only then did she nod contentedly.

Then she turned sideways in his direction and closed her eyes.

"Good night, brother."

After two seconds, she spoke to him softly.

The girl's sweet and gentle voice is like the most moving whisper in the night.

Luo Jingqu felt that his heartbeat, which had been already restless, became even faster because of these words.

He raised his hand, paused in the air for a moment, and finally fell on her soft hair.

He rubbed it twice, greedy for the warmth of his fingertips, reluctant to leave, but had to leave.

"Good night, Qingqing."

When she heard these four words, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, and then sleepiness gradually began to emerge.

Xing Chenyu didn't know that he had been sitting by her bed after she fell asleep.

He sat in the darkness for a long time and looked at her for a long time.

-

After that night, Xing Chenyu suddenly felt that Luo Jingqu's attitude towards her had become a little different.

He was still good to her, considerate and gentle, always responsive to her requests, and pampering her... However, she felt as if he was distancing himself from her invisibly.

That is, she felt that he was clearly smiling at her, but there was a sense of distance that was deliberately created in this smile.

In the past, when she acted coquettishly, she liked to pull his arm or hold his hand and talk to him closely, but recently, if she wanted to act coquettishly with him, he would listen to her at a distance from her without making a sound.

It was obvious that he was reducing and even eliminating overly intimate interactions and physical contact with her.

She didn't know why this sudden change happened, but she had no way to ask him because it would reveal some not-so-normal thoughts deep in her heart. She also had no way to tell others or listen to their advice, not even to Xiao Ou, because this was not actually a normal thing.

No matter how good or close the relationship between a brother and a sister is, there is a limit. After all, they are relatives, not lovers.

Even if they have no blood relationship at all.

Moreover, after two weeks, she noticed that he started coming home later.

He used to dislike socializing, and most of the time he would come to the school to pick her up after finishing work. If he had something else to do, he would come later, but he would always go home for dinner. But recently, not only did he not pick her up, he also came home very late, even when she was asleep, he was still not home.

When she went to school in the morning, he had already left for the company.

She began to see him less and less.

That morning, while she was eating at the table, Luo's mother gave her a spoonful of porridge and said to Luo's father, "Why is Jingqu so busy lately? I haven't seen him every day and he doesn't even eat at home. Is there so much going on at the company?"

Father Luo held the newspaper in his hand and said with a smile, "He's not busy with company matters. I think he's busy with his own personal matters."

Luo Jingqu's two younger brothers are much younger than him, and are in elementary school and junior high school respectively. They are not very interested in what adults say and are concentrating on playing with their mobile phones. Only she, although she is eating with her head down, all her attention is focused on the conversation between Luo's father and mother.

Luo's mother paused and lowered her voice to ask, "Is there something wrong with him?"

Luo's father said, "I heard from Secretary Wu that he seems to have been very close to a girl recently. That girl is also very beautiful."

Luo's mother was so happy that her eyebrows danced with joy: "That's great! Let him bring the person home to see him!"

Luo's mother has always been very anxious about why her perfect son has not found a wife and come home in all these years. Moreover, Luo Jingqu has also clearly stated that his sexual orientation is female. Luo's mother has always felt that he is too demanding, and there has been no hope of having a grandson - but who knew that what was supposed to come would come so suddenly!

Xing Chenyu was listening quietly at the side. She didn't react at first, but at this point, she finally understood what Mr. and Mrs. Luo said.

Luo Jingqu is looking for a girlfriend.

He is about to have a partner who will stand by him for the rest of his life.

And she would call that girl sister-in-law and would always watch them walk happily together.

She sat there holding the spoon for a while, but finally couldn't help it, so she put the spoon down, picked up her schoolbag and stood up from the chair.

Because she made a lot of noise, both Luo's father and mother looked over at her: "Yuyu, what's wrong?"

She endured the soreness in her eyes, grabbed her schoolbag, lowered her head and walked out the door: "I forgot that I have a math test this morning. I have to go to school early."

As soon as she walked out of the Luo family's gate, she raised her hands to cover her eyes, feeling the tears in the corners of her eyes slipping through her fingers.
