The breathtaking scenery before her eyes filled Gu Yueji with admiration. The city, once filled with towering buildings, had transformed into a toy city made of building blocks, both adorable and tiny. Such a view naturally broadened her mind and spirit.
Gu Yueji couldn't help but exclaim, "So beautiful!"
Sun Ziru smiled as he looked at the scenery before him. He had seen it many times before, but he didn't feel the same amazement as Gu Yueji. However, beautiful scenery still brings joy no matter how many times you see it.
They sat on the stone benches watching the sun gradually change from bright white to orange, and finally sink below the horizon. This was the first time Gu Yueji had ever watched a sunset in its entirety. She turned to look at Sun Ziru with satisfaction.
He was still gazing at the setting sun. Gu Yueji looked quietly into his eyes and discovered for the first time that there was a lot hidden in them. Her first thought was that he must have been here with someone else before, and someone he was still thinking about.
Sun Ziru is handsome and refined, with a good education and family background, and a gentle and considerate personality. She wouldn't believe that he has never been in a relationship.
Suddenly, she called his name, "Sun Ziru".
Sun Ziru paused for a moment, subconsciously concealing the emotions in his eyes, and habitually raised the corners of his lips before turning his head.
Just as he turned his head to ask her what was wrong, Gu Yueji suddenly leaned over and pressed her lips to his.
Sun Ziru's eyes widened suddenly, and he recoiled in fright, almost falling off his chair.
Gu Yueji quickly grabbed him and stared at him intently.
After settling into his seat, Sun Ziru realized his lapse in composure and was momentarily speechless with embarrassment.
After a moment of awkward silence, Gu Yueji looked away as if nothing had happened. "I think I'm a little hungry. Let's go down the mountain to eat."
Sun Ziru immediately replied, "Okay, what would you like to eat? It's on me."
"Let's go eat wonton noodles. I know a really good one."
From the moment they descended the mountain until they ate, they resumed their previous interactions, except that Gu Yueji no longer took the initiative to hold Sun Ziru's hand and would occasionally fall into silence.
Sun Ziru had clearly figured it out as well. When he dropped her off at her apartment building and they were sitting in the car, he reached out and took her hand. "I apologize for what happened on the mountaintop. I'm sorry I embarrassed you."
Gu Yueji looked at him and said, "It was my abruptness that startled you."
Looking down at their clasped hands, she said, "But can you tell me why? That way I'll know what to do next."
Sun Ziru probably hadn't expected her to ask him so directly. He paused for a moment, then withdrew his hand and faced the windshield. He seemed to be thinking about how to answer her question. Gu Yueji didn't urge him, and also leaned back in her seat, looking out the windshield.
In the quiet carriage, he finally spoke after a while, "I used to have a girlfriend. We were together since college, but we broke up at the beginning of this year."
After thinking for a moment, Gu Yueji asked, "Can I ask you why you broke up?"
He answered truthfully, "My parents disagreed, so he went abroad."
Everything seemed to be within the realm of understanding, except that he couldn't even manage a kiss, asking, "Are you sure you can let her go and be with me?"
Sun Ziru understood Gu Yueji's meaning. He looked at her, leaned down and kissed her lips. "Give me some time, okay?"
Gu Yueji kept her eyes open, watching him. He closed his eyes when he kissed her, his kiss so light it was almost imperceptible. When he opened his eyes and asked her a question, his eyes were sincere. She remembered when he proposed dating her, he said they were dating with marriage in mind. He had proactively told his parents about their relationship and finally nodded.
