Ren Jin easily carried Gu Yueji to her doorstep. When she opened the door, he didn't put her down. After entering the house, he pressed her against the door and kissed her.
At first, his kisses were swift, but gradually they became tender and gentle. His hands caressed her skin inch by inch, from her waist to her back, and then to her face and eyes.
The roughness of fingertips, the entanglement of lips and tongues—it all felt so familiar, yet inexplicably brought a sense of warmth and belonging.
This man is her husband, Gu Yueji silently repeated in her mind.
The two kissed for an unknown amount of time. Ren Jin noticed that she was holding him passionately, but she was so tense that she didn't dare to utter a sound.
He chuckled softly, his head resting against her forehead. "What? Afraid of being overheard?"
Gu Yueji didn't deny it; she really didn't have the face to let others hear it again, but there was another reason: "If we don't pack now, it won't be time to move into your house today."
Ren Jin released her, glanced at his watch, and saw that it was already 3 o'clock. Packing his luggage would indeed take a lot of time.
He rubbed her waist and said, "Let's get ready first. We can save the wedding night for tonight. You won't feel comfortable here anyway."
Gu Yueji patted his chest shyly. On their wedding night, just hearing his voice made her heart race.
She went back to her room to pack her clothes and belongings, while Ren Jin helped her pack up her computer, live-streaming equipment, and other items outside. The two of them worked together until almost 6 o'clock before they were all packed up.
Gu Yueji pushed two suitcases and a storage box out of the room. Ren Jin glanced at them, then bent down and pressed one end of the tape, sealing one of the suitcases with a sharp sizzle.
"Let's move your clothes and some necessities over today, and we'll find a vehicle to move these big boxes tomorrow."
Gu Yueji nodded, "Why don't we go back first? We need to pack some things when we get back to your place."
Ren Jin tossed the tape aside. "Okay, let's go to the supermarket before we go home."
"What do you want to buy?"
"I only have one pair of slippers. I'll go buy you some daily necessities and some groceries, and I'll cook you a meal tonight."
Gu Yueji was surprised. They had lived together for so long before, and she had only ever eaten the porridge and egg noodles he cooked. The cooking methods were rough and the taste was so-so. This was the first time she had heard him say that he would take the initiative to cook a meal for her. Gu Yueji asked curiously, "What dishes can you cook?"
Ren Jin didn't boast, "My cooking skills are really not that great, but since this is our first day of marriage, I wanted to cook a few dishes for you. What would you like to eat? Or would you like to eat out?"
He offered to cook for her, so there was no reason for her to eat out. "I want to eat at home, I want to eat your cooking."
When they arrived at the supermarket, Gu Yueji thoughtfully picked out the simplest ingredients for him: stir-fried beef with chili peppers, stir-fried lettuce, and a tomato and egg soup.
After picking out the vegetables, they went to buy her daily necessities: slippers, toothbrush, cup, towel. Every time she picked something out, Ren Jin would casually grab a matching item in a different color and throw it into the shopping cart. Gu Yueji looked at him in confusion, and Ren Jin said that he also needed to replace his own, so they bought several matching items.
While queuing to pay, Ren Jin noticed a shelf next to him and remembered that he was missing something important at home. Just as he was about to reach for two boxes, Gu Yueji grabbed a set and put it in her shopping cart first.
He raised an eyebrow and stared at her with a smile.
Gu Yueji knew Ren Jin was looking at her, but she was too embarrassed to look up. Her thoughts were actually very simple; she just wanted to wait until they had some time to adjust before deciding to have a child, and they would definitely use family planning products tonight.
A warm breath brushed against my ear, and he said in a voice so soft only two people could hear, "How do you know I don't have any at home?"
Gu Yueji was taken aback, her gaze falling on the boxes in the shopping cart.
She hadn't really thought about that question; how could she be so sure he hadn't brought any women home?
He reached out to put the box back on the shelf.
Ren Jin pressed her hand down, "If you put it back, what will we eat tonight? Or do you want a child?"
She glanced at him sideways, a hint of annoyance in her voice, "Didn't you say you had some at home?"
"What I mean is, how did you know you were the first woman I brought home, and that we didn't have any condoms at home?"
She knew he was teasing her on purpose, but she was still angry. "Never brought a girlfriend home before? Didn't you call her last night?"
She gradually remembered what happened last night, including his phone call saying he didn't like her.
"A blind date I've known for less than two months can't really be considered a girlfriend."
"Then why don't you like her?"
She also said not to contact him again.
He didn't bother to explain, so he leaned down and whispered in her ear, "Because I won't want to sleep with her the moment I see her."
She blushed, pinched his waist, and turned away, ignoring him.
Ren Jin looked at her back. Her long, black hair, past her shoulders, was smooth and shiny. He remembered the cool feeling of her hair brushing against his arm when he held her head and kissed her last night, and his heart began to itch again.
Thinking about it, he reached out and took another set from the shelf and put it in the shopping cart.
When Gu Yueji arrived at Ren Jin's home, her first impression was that it looked very similar to the model apartment in the real estate development. From the decor to the furniture, even the artificial flowers next to the TV looked the same. She couldn't help but ask, "Did you buy someone else's model apartment?"
Unexpectedly, he asked her in surprise, "How did you know?"
Gu Yueji was even more surprised, "Really?"
He nodded. "Yes, I know the manager of this development. They were clearing out the remaining units, and they asked me if I wanted this model apartment, saying they could give me a discount. I thought it was move-in ready, so I bought it."
Gu Yueji couldn't help but laugh. His reason for buying the house was so casual, but luckily he wouldn't be staying there for long.
He took her slippers out of the shopping bag, untied the straps and placed them beside her feet, then took out his pair and untied them.
