Chapter 10 High-quality replicas aren't expensive.

One morning she made a simple breakfast of milk and eggs, and when he came home at noon he said he didn't even have the energy to climb the stairs. So now she puts more meat in his breakfasts.

Gu Yueji, remembering the price she paid for the chicken, started rambling on, "Remember to finish the meat. I bought this free-range chicken at the market; it cost about half as much again as it does in the supermarket, but the meat quality is definitely better..."

Ren Jin stared at her intently, listening to her rambling on and on.

She was no longer as skinny as when we first met; her oval face had become fuller and more radiant, and her mascara-coated eyelashes were long and thick, making her eyes appear large and bright. Her lips, which opened and closed, were still as moist and alluring as ever.

As Gu Yueji spoke, she noticed Ren Jin staring at her without saying anything, and asked him curiously, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Ren Jin stared at her face and said, "I think you've become more beautiful."

Gu Yueji was taken aback. This was the first time Ren Jin had praised her. She looked at herself in the mirror shyly and asked, "Really?"

Ren Jin curled his lips meaningfully, "Don't you think it's thanks to me?"

Gu Yueji retorted instinctively, "What's it to you? I've been learning makeup lately, okay?"

Even after being complimented on her beauty, she couldn't help but curl her lips into a smile. She picked up the mirror and looked at herself from all angles, asking, "Do I really look good?"

She blinked, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.

He bent down, pinched her chin, and examined her closely. His eyes were clear and bright, and his expression was radiant. Gu Yueji felt embarrassed by his gaze and wanted to push his hand away.

He lowered his head and said, "You've become more beautiful." Then he kissed and bit her lips.

Gu Yueji was stunned.

For his praise, and for his kiss.

Perhaps it wasn't a legitimate relationship; their kisses were all preparations and catalysts for something.

So they rarely kiss except in bed.

At this moment, he lowered his eyes, gazing at her as she gently licked and bit him, exuding a nonchalant and flirtatious air.

Gu Yueji kept looking into his eyes. He had thick eyebrows and deep-set eyes with dark, unfathomable pupils. She felt his familiar, strong masculine aura gradually enveloping and permeating her.

He kissed her enough, then pulled away a little, his gaze sweeping over her face, the curve of his lips revealing a charming roguishness and heroic spirit.

"Look for yourself, do you think your becoming more beautiful has anything to do with me?" He held the mirror up to her.

The person in the mirror has eyes that sparkle like autumn waves, shimmering with moisture, rosy cheeks, and lips as red as cherries.

She seemed even more beautiful after he kissed her.

At the end of the month, Gu Yueji pressed the calculator twice in her account book before daring to confirm her answer and wrote down the numbers displayed on the calculator in the notebook.

She happily held up the notebook and kissed the numbers.

This month's income is the highest she's ever made since starting her business, enough to cover her minimum repayments for several months. If she can earn this much every month from now on, she'll be able to pay off her debts this year.

Debt is a huge weight on her mind. All her plans for the future can only begin after the debt is paid off. Now, nothing makes her happier than making money, because she looks forward to the arrival of a new life as soon as possible.

The doorbell rang, and Gu Yueji put on her shoes and went to open the door. It was Ren who came in.

He just called her to ask what she wanted for a late-night snack. He always buys her late-night snacks whenever he stays overnight; it's a tradition between them.

She was in a great mood today and ordered crayfish and raw marinated seafood. Ren Jin clicked his tongue and said that he couldn't even afford her late-night snack after a whole day of running errands, but she was happy and wanted to splurge.

Upon opening the door, one sees Ren Jin leaning against the stair railing, head down, smoking.

The orange light shone on his face, outlining strong lines on his sculpted and rugged eyebrows and features, creating a cinematic effect. Gu Yueji thought he resembled the male lead in a Hong Kong movie.

He looked up at her, took the last drag of his cigarette, and stomped it out. She hated the smell of smoke and forbade him from smoking at home, which he obeyed perfectly, never smoking once inside.

The delivery bag for crayfish was handed over. "Here you go, your crayfish and raw marinated seafood."

This action made Gu Yueji feel a little dazed, recalling the way he handed her a cake on her birthday.

Before we knew it, more than three months had passed.

"What are you spacing out for?" Ren Jin asked, seeing her blocking the doorway.

Gu Yueji snapped out of her daze, took the takeout bag, and said, "I was thinking I haven't paid for the takeout yet."

Ren Jin smiled and said, "It's nothing." He then took a box out of his pocket and placed it in her hand. "Just cooperate tonight."

The box had sharp, uncomfortable edges; she knew what it was without even looking.

She threw the box back at him, yelling, "Can't you be a decent human being?!" She glared at him and turned to go inside.

Ren Jin pressed down on the Okamoto shirt against his chest, licking his lips and smiling.

I've been using it quite frequently lately; this is already the second box this week. There were a couple of times when he was so engrossed in making love with Gu Yueji that they could hear a rooster crowing; she'd long harbored resentment towards him.

But you can't blame him. Both times he went to bed early because of the heat and didn't do anything. It was she who pressed herself against him in the middle of the night, her chest half exposed, her nightgown lifted up to her stomach, and her white legs wrapped around his waist. Who could resist seeing her like that? So he woke her up.

Ren Jin took off his shoes and went straight into the bathroom; he always took a shower as soon as he got back. He was covered in sweat and stench, and Gu Yueji wouldn't let him sit down unless he went to wash.

Gu Yueji put down the takeout, tidied up the calculator and accounting book on the table, and then went to the kitchen to get a few bottles of beer.

As I came out, I tripped over something and looked down to see Ren Jin's sneakers.

The house is small, and the place to change shoes faces the kitchen door. I've told him countless times that he should put his shoes on the shoe rack, but he just won't listen.

Angrily, she picked up her shoes and threw them onto the shoe rack. His size 44 shoes were placed next to hers, as big as a giant's foot.
