"Let's go to the mall instead. It'll satisfy all your shopping, dining, and movie-watching desires all at once."
Gu Yueji was a little disappointed. She had thought that Ren Jin would take her to places he had been before, places that were new to her and that she could learn more about him from them.
In the six months they'd known each other, aside from knowing he was a food deliveryman, she knew practically nothing about Ren Jin, not even where he lived. Now, thinking back, if he had lied to her and was actually a married man, it wasn't impossible that she had unknowingly become a mistress.
"What are you thinking about?"
Gu Yueji tapped his chest with her finger. "Is there anything you're hiding from me?"
Ren Jin was taken aback by the question, a wave of guilt washing over him. He countered, "What have I been hiding from you?"
Gu Yueji suddenly suggested, "Why don't you take me to your house today? I want to see your house."
Ren Jin stared at her, wondering if she had noticed something. "Why do you suddenly want to go to my house?"
Gu Yueji squinted and feigned anger, saying, "I'm going to your house to see if you have a wife and children."
Ren Jin breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, finding it amusing. "What are you thinking?"
"What? You don't want to take me with you?"
He never expected Gu Yueji to make this request. He couldn't take her to the house he was currently living in, nor could he possibly rent a dilapidated house just to deceive her.
He could only continue lying, "I haven't been back to my place in so long, it's messy and dirty. You finally have a day off, do you want to come and clean it for me? I'll tidy it up next time and then take you back."
"Ren Jin, you're not lying to me, are you?" Gu Yueji stared intently at Ren Jin's face, thinking of Ye Zurong, the man she had been in love with for five years who had deceived and betrayed her. "Ren Jin, don't lie to me. I've already been lied to once, and I will never forgive anyone who lies to me in this lifetime."
Ren Jin pulled the man into his arms and chose to downplay the issue, saying, "What did I lie to you about? Did I lie to you about giving you money, or that I lied to you about having your child? Do you want me to show you my ID so you can check if I have a wife and children?"
Gu Yueji remained silent, seemingly still pondering whether he had lied to her.
He patted her pert bottom to interrupt her, "Alright, stop thinking about all that nonsense. You should think about what to eat for lunch. Get up now."
After saying that, he immediately pulled the person up.
