Uncle was still worried, so he continued to look around, thoroughly searching the attic inside and out, until no more black bats appeared before returning to Wan'er's side.
"Uncle is amazing." Just then, Wan'er turned around and witnessed her uncle's clean and efficient move. She gave him a thumbs up.
"Could this mean we've been discovered?" Uncle blurted out, still shaken.
"They should just be gatekeepers, some dark elves. Let's wait and see. If they don't come looking for us, then it means there's no problem." Wan'er stood up, turned to look at her uncle, and noticed that one of his ears was bleeding. She quickly reached out to support him. "Are you alright? Are you okay?"
"It's alright, this little demon can't hurt me." Uncle grinned, twisted his fingers, poured some ash from the pipe into his other palm, and then quickly raised his hand to smear the ash on the wound. As soon as he put his hand down, the wound quickly congealed.
Seeing that her uncle was alright, Wan'er breathed a sigh of relief and quickly walked back to the left corner she had been searching for. She stuck out her right toe and tapped the ground, and surprisingly, a slight "plop" sound came from the concrete floor...
"Found it." Wan'er shuddered and, just like before, squatted down. She pressed her fingers against the cement floor by the wall, and with a soft "creak," a thin crack appeared in the ground. The sound wasn't loud, but it made Wan'er stop...
After listening for a moment and finding no sound below, she lowered herself again, secretly prying her fingers open. Soon, a rectangular hole appeared, just the right size for a person to enter and exit. The hole connected to a wooden staircase, which slowly extended and landed steadily in the middle of the house.
Wan'er lay prone, looking down with her eyes. After a while, seeing no movement below, she grabbed the edge of the roof and went down the stairs.
Seeing that Wan'er remained calm and composed, without flinching or showing any fear, Uncle was filled with satisfaction and followed her down the aisle.
The room was empty, only filled with the strong scent of perfume and various ornate decorations...
“This is Su Mei’s room,” Wan’er frowned, the familiar smell making her feel a little uncomfortable. “She smells like this.”
Looking up at the bed opposite, the clothes and blankets were piled up haphazardly to one side, but there was no one there.
This should be sleeping time, but the whole building was dark earlier, so no one is here tonight, only two dark elves are left to guard it. Did Su Mei also go out?
"It seems there's nothing unusual." Uncle carefully examined every place, tapped it with his pipe from time to time, and even looked under the bed, but found nothing suspicious.
Wan'er walked to the door, opened it, and found herself in a corridor. She quickly stepped forward and carefully looked around the corridor, but everything was quiet and she couldn't see anyone.
In the darkness, Wan'er and her uncle exchanged glances, then continued down the stairs once more...
"Splash, splash..." Upon reaching the first floor, the floor became damp, and a faint musty smell permeated the air. From the far right corner against the wall, a faint "splash!" sound of water could be heard.
There's something strange about the sound of the water! Wan'er lifted her foot and walked forward. When she reached the very end, in front of the last house, a high wall blocked her way. Between the high wall and the room, there was a dark wooden door, almost the same color as the wall. It was impossible to see it unless you looked closely.
"Help, help me!" Just then, a woman's weak voice came from behind the door.
