Chapter 29 My Birthday is Different From Others

“Little Prince, I’ve always lived alone, but now that I have you, I feel inexplicably happy. I always feel that you’re not just a cat, but a person. While you’re still here, I want to talk to you.” Under the lamplight, Ye Wan’er, still exhausted after her bath, stared at the ceiling, her arms outstretched, writing a large “big” on the bed. A hint of melancholy seemed to linger in her eyes. “Little Prince, do you think I’m falling in love with you? What should I do? I’m afraid I won’t want to give you away. Of course, I know I can’t think like that. After all, you’re so well-behaved, your owner must love you too. I can’t take someone else’s love away, so I’ve decided to send the news of finding you out through the media…”

What? Did I hear that right? You, you actually have such a strange idea! Wan'er, you're quite pleasing to the eye, so how come your head is filled with water? How could you come up with such a stupid thought!

Did you know that we civets only recognize one master in our lifetime, and everything about that master will be deeply engraved in their hearts? Even if they no longer remember themselves, they will never forget their master.

Right now, there's no image of anyone else in my mind, meaning you are my only master. How could you push me away...?

Thinking of this, the kitten glared angrily, its eyes flashing blue, and stared coldly at Wan'er. Its slightly open mouth hissed out cool breath, and its whiskers twitched.

Unaware of the kitten's anger, Wan'er remained silent for a while, still staring at the ceiling, then continued her muttering to herself after a few smacking sounds.

"Sigh! Let's not talk about that now. Let's figure out how to solve the problem at hand. Since I got back, I've gone through every birthday I can remember, but I still can't recall when Mom gave me the key. I only remember that on other people's birthdays, there's always a feast, but mine is different. Not only do I have to eat vegetarian food, but I also have to lock myself in my bedroom. I can't drink soup or water, and I have to stay away from anything with water. Mom has never bought me any of that. Little Prince, what do you think my mom is up to? Or maybe Uncle's dream was just a dream..."

Ye Wan'er, you're asking me? Who am I supposed to ask? But I'm a little confused. Why would your mom celebrate your birthday like this? Something doesn't seem right! Judging from your tone, your parents love you very much. How could they not give you good food, and how could they lock you in your room and not let you drink water? Don't you think all of this is too abnormal?

"Meow!" The kitten stretched its curled-up body, gently placed one front paw on Wan'er's forearm, and then slowly lay down, its pure, deep blue eyes quietly watching Wan'er...

Forget it, I've been talking to you for ages, I don't even know if you understood. I was just trying to relax, but you'd better figure it out yourself.

Wan'er's eyes darted to the wooden box on the bedside table. On a whim, she got up, got out of bed, and moved a small stool to sit on the edge of the bed.

This time, she began to examine it carefully. At this moment, although the red lacquer on the wooden box had turned black, it reflected a bright luster.

Strange embossed patterns appeared on the surface of the box, resembling clouds or waves, subtly conveying a sense of mystery.

Focusing her gaze on the small, round keyhole, Wan'er was momentarily dazed. The dark hole before her seemed to stretch endlessly...
