"Meow!" Just then, a sharp meow rang out, accompanied by a blue shadow that "whooshed!" onto the coffee table.
"Ah! Cat!" Su Mei was startled by the little prince and quickly put her legs up on the sofa. As she moved her hips, she pulled Wan'er's arm to cover half of her body.
At this moment, the little prince had a clear goal. He pricked up his ears, twitched his beard, bared his teeth, and stared wide-eyed at Sue.
Seeing the strange light flickering in the kitten's eyes, Su Mei became even more frightened.
Wait, why does this woman have a faint smell of blood? And where did the scratches on her hands go? The kitten sniffed, its blue eyes flashing brighter…
The two, one human and one cat, stood facing each other in a tense standoff.
“Hey, Su Mei, why are you so afraid of him? He’s very docile.” Sensing the hostility between them, Wan’er shook her head, turned to the side, and reached out to pull Su Mei out from behind. “You’ll be living under the same roof from now on, so you’ll have to try to accept each other.”
"No, don't pull me!" Unexpectedly, Su Mei pushed away Wan'er's arm and hid herself even further away. "Tell him to leave first!"
"Little Prince, please leave for a moment. I need to discuss something with this lady." Wan'er sighed, leaned forward, and reached out to pat the little prince's head.
The kitten seemed to understand Wan'er's words. It looked up at Wan'er, its sharp gaze softening instantly. Finally, it leaped out of the living room and walked into the open bedroom door...
"They're finally gone." Su Mei sat back down, patted her chest, took a deep breath, and then exhaled.
"If you want to stay in my house, you have to get along well with the little prince," Wan'er reminded Su Mei.
"Wan'er, you know my family is all in the countryside. I have nothing here." Su Mei's eyes glistened with tears as she answered, seemingly unrelated to the question. "We're in the same boat; from now on, we'll be each other's only family..."
As Su Mei finished speaking, she tilted her head, closed her eyes slightly, and leaned on Wan'er's arm.
"Su Mei, can't you really accept the Little Prince?" Wan'er straightened her body and crossed her arms in front of her chest. "If you can't accept him, then you can't accept me."
"How long has he been here? Does he hold a higher place in your heart than I do?" Su Mei asked excitedly, her eyes widening dramatically as she looked back at Wan'er. "Don't be ridiculous, he's not a person! He's just a cat."
"Shut up! What's wrong with the cat? He's already a member of my family." Wan'er pouted angrily and slammed her left hand on the coffee table with a "thud!" "There's always an order to things. Besides, he came to my house before you."
"Wan'er, it's not that I meant to contradict you, it's just that you forgot, he's someone else's precious child, and he might be sent away soon."
"You!" Su Mei's words mercilessly struck Wan'er's sore spot. Wan'er's face immediately turned red. She stood up abruptly and walked towards the bedroom. "I don't want to argue with you about this anymore. There's no point in arguing any further."
For a cat, you actually abandoned me here on my very first night seeking refuge with you and turned against me! This is truly pointless! Watching Wan'er's departing figure, Su Mei's left corner of her mouth twitched, instantly curving into a strange arc.
“Little Prince, I know it’s wrong, but I still sent and deleted your message…” Wan’er sat on the balcony, holding the kitten, somewhat lost in thought, letting the night breeze gently lift her dark hair. The flickering streetlights in the distance reflected the subtle ripples in her eyes.
