Chapter 65: They were even planning to give Yang Zeyan a try.
In the following days, Du Ruoxia stayed with Yang Zeyan and hardly went out.
At first, Yang Zeyan insisted on taking a bath every day, but later his wound became infected again after getting wet, and Du Ruoxia scolded him severely. Coupled with what happened the day before, Du Ruoxia settled all the old and new grudges with him.
Yang Zeyan realized for the first time that Du Ruoxia had such a bad temper, and that she could be ruthless without hesitation.
He was a patient, and Du Ruoxia said she would kick him out, and she really did, completely disregarding his injuries.
Du Ruoxia also said, "I made this mess, so I'll fix it if problems arise."
Yang Zeyan stood at the door all night, refusing to come in even when Zhang Mingwen from next door invited him in.
Du Ruoxia only remembered the person she had been kicked out after taking a nap. She opened the door groggily, and Yang Zeyan was still standing straight in the doorway.
She reluctantly let him into the house, and Yang Zeyan immediately behaved himself.
Du Ruoxia hadn't slept well the night before because she had too much material to translate, so she practically went straight to bed after opening the door for Yang Zeyan.
Yang Zeyan looked at the person on the bed, his lips pursed, his mind in turmoil.
On the one hand, he wanted to go to bed with her; on the other hand, he was afraid that Du Ruoxia would get angry.
Du Ruoxia vaguely sensed light in the room. She blocked the light and angrily shouted at Yang Zeyan, "If you're not going to sleep, turn off the light and get out!"
Upon hearing this, Yang Zeyan quickly turned off the light and went to bed, while Du Ruoxia next to him was already fast asleep.
Du Ruoxia slept soundly through the night, but Yang Zeyan couldn't sleep at all.
When the rooster crowed, Du Ruoxia struggled to open her eyes.
Seeing the magnified handsome face, she was a little confused, and only after blinking did she sit up in surprise.
"What's wrong?" Yang Zeyan immediately got up and asked anxiously.
Du Ruoxia's memory returned slightly, and she waved her hand expressionlessly, "It's nothing, I was just dreaming!"
She did want to hold a grudge about sleeping with Yang Zeyan, but since she was already planning to give it a try, she couldn't just say no now.
“I’ll be busy translating these next few days, so you can manage your own time as you please,” Du Ruoxia said to Yang Zeyan as she got out of bed.
She looked out the window again. The rain seemed endless, and she remembered that a great flood seemed to be coming soon!
"Yang Zeyan, how long does it take to get to Xilan City from here?" Du Ruoxia suddenly asked.
Yang Zeyan looked up and asked in confusion, "Xilan City? You're going to Xilan City?"
Du Ruoxia shook her head and then nodded, "I have that idea. It's been raining for so long, I heard it's been a month in Xilan City, I want to go and see."
Yang Zeyan frowned. He hadn't been paying attention to the situation in these places recently, and according to Du Ruoxia, it was probably not as simple as just taking a look.
"If the rainy season is too long, there might be landslides. If it continues, I don't know if there will be floods," Du Ruoxia said rather vaguely.
Yang Zeyan chewed on something and pondered. Du Ruoxia saw that he had spoken to her and went to take a shower.
When she came out, Yang Zeyan had already finished eating and cleaned up the table.
"Why did you get wet again! I can handle it," Du Ruoxia said reproachfully.
"Well, I don't want to confirm that you're completely useless, lest you feel uncomfortable," Yang Zeyan said leisurely.
Du Ruoxia looked embarrassed. She was just trying to prevent Yang Zeyan from being targeted by his colleagues, so why was he taking it so seriously?
"I was just saying that to them, and you took it so seriously. If you get a fever later, I'll have to take care of you." Du Ruoxia replied irritably.
Yang Zeyan froze, feeling a little guilty. "Thank you for your hard work yesterday."
Du Ruoxia waved her hand, "It's nothing, what can I do? I'm your doctor."
Yang Zeyan's expression immediately turned dejected, simply because he was a patient.
"I'm not talking to you anymore, I have to work. I have a lot to do these days." Du Ruoxia picked up the documents and went into the house.
Yang Zeyan saw her close the door and sit on the sofa in deep thought. After a while, she left without Du Ruoxia knowing anything.
Because Director Xin was worried that she wouldn't be able to go to the library for several days, he simply took a week's worth of supplies, and said that the supplies for the second half of the month hadn't arrived yet.
Du Ruoxia planned to go to Xilan City to take a look, but she felt uneasy about it.
Xilan City was her hometown in her previous life.
Du Ruoxia came out to get water halfway through, but Yang Zeyan had already disappeared.
She immediately got angry; this person had absolutely no intuition about being a patient!
Du Ruoxia angrily opened the door and saw that Song Hongjiao's door was open. She walked over and saw Yang Zeyan sitting inside.
Zhang Mingwen has returned and is listening attentively to Yang Zeyan.
"Do you think I healed you too quickly, or do you want to experience that cut again?" Du Ruoxia's cool tone came through.
Zhang Mingwen immediately stood up and looked at Du Ruoxia with a nervous expression.
Yang Zeyan froze, clearly startled by the sudden interruption.
"You're here! I was just about to talk to you!" Song Hongjiao kept giving Du Ruoxia meaningful glances after she came out.
Du Ruoxia squinted at Zhang Mingwen and Yang Zeyan; these two were up to something!
"Okay, let them chat here, we'll go next door!" Du Ruoxia pulled Song Hongjiao and walked out.
Upon entering Du Ruoxia's home, Song Hongjiao immediately closed the door and pulled Du Ruoxia to sit down.
"I just overheard that your regimental commander Yang is going on a mission and that he needs Zhang Mingwen to write a report for him and Commander Xiao!"
"They wouldn't let me listen. I went into the bedroom and couldn't hear what they were saying." Song Hongjiao was a little annoyed that she hadn't listened to more of what they were saying.
Du Ruoxia pursed her lips and remained silent; her serious face clearly showed that she was angry.
“Your Yang Tuan was injured just two days ago, and now he’s going on another mission. Why don’t you try to persuade him?” Song Hongjiao grabbed Du Ruoxia’s hand and advised, even she, an outsider, couldn’t stand it anymore.
“If he doesn’t want to live, there’s nothing we can do to stop him. Don’t worry, if no one else can cure him, I will,” Du Ruoxia said calmly.
Song Hongjiao looked at Du Ruoxia, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back, her gaze as if Du Ruoxia were some kind of victim of violence.
"I won't do it," Du Ruoxia comforted her.
Song Hongjiao breathed a sigh of relief, "You two, talk things out, please don't resort to violence."
Du Ruoxia nodded, but couldn't help thinking to herself, "When did it become a rule that only men can take action, and that violence must be used as a last resort?"
Du Ruoxia didn't keep Song Hongjiao to say anything more, because Yang Zeyan knocked on the door.
As soon as Song Hongjiao left, Du Ruoxia looked at Yang Zeyan with a smile on her face, making the latter's heart skip a beat.
"Wife, did you hear something?" Yang Zeyan asked guiltily.
Du Ruoxia looked at him with a half-smile and remained silent. Yang Zeyan walked over and sat down next to her.
"Wife, let's discuss this. What do you think?" Yang Zeyan asked, his voice lacking confidence.
Du Ruoxia smiled, but remained silent, simply looking at Yang Zeyan.
"I was thinking of submitting a report first, and then telling you once it's confirmed," Yang Zeyan said in a low voice.
"Okay, just give me a note when you're about to leave, you don't need to tell me anything else," Du Ruoxia assured her.
Yang Zeyan felt even more guilty. In the past, he never had to explain himself to anyone, but now that he had a wife, he had forgotten to change this bad habit.
"I forgot to tell you first, there's a time limit for submitting reports," Yang Zeyan said weakly.
“Well, instead of you reporting to Zhang Mingwen, let me go. I’ll tell Commander Xiao that you’ve recovered.” Du Ruoxia shrugged and nodded.
