Chapter 217 Lan Ze’s Perspective (Part 2)
Sang Yan was stunned for a few seconds before he slowly smiled. His eyes were filled with sadness, but his smile was very warm.
"It's been a long time since I heard anyone call her name in front of me."
"What do you mean?" Lan Ze's breathing became rapid, and he had a bad feeling in his heart. "Where is she?"
"The Oslan Empire."
Lan Ze breathed a sigh of relief. He was about to ask her how she was doing, but when he saw Sang Yan's expression, he froze in place.
Sang Yan looked at the clouds drifting in the sky and said, "It was the same weather on the day of her ceremony."
His appearance hadn't changed much, but his temperament was much calmer and more reserved than it had been ten years ago. He raised his head, slightly covering his reddened eyes to prevent tears from falling.
Lan Ze's fingertips trembled a little as he asked, "Is she in trouble? What happened to her?"
Even after ten years, Sang Yan still felt an indescribable pain when he spoke of her. He pretended to be nonchalant and sniffed a flower, then opened his palm and placed the crystal-clear gem he had been holding on the back of the Tianya Haijiao Stone. Lan Ze saw that the back was already filled with colorful gems.
"She's dead."
"Levi froze her body on the top floor of the Imperial Court's castle, and wouldn't let anyone get close except Zongfang. He was paranoid and thought Sui Sui was just asleep, but we all knew she had no breath or heartbeat."
"I can't see her, so every year on this day, I will come here to give her the most beautiful gem and her favorite flowers."
"Actually, I had no plans to take in the rebels, because with the Freedom Alliance's strength at the time, it couldn't compete with the Federation. But when I thought that this might be what Sui Sui cared about, I did it."
Sang Yan spoke a lot in a halting manner. His tone was extremely calm, but every word struck Lan Ze like thunder.
"Why is this happening? How could this happen?" Lan Ze didn't believe it. He didn't want to believe it. "I will return to the Imperial Court immediately. Even if I have to kneel down and beg Liberi, I will..."
"It's useless. He's crazy." Sang Yan said with a look of sorrow in his eyes, "Liberty is terminally ill. He's been tormented by headaches day in and day out for over a decade and has gone completely insane. Besides, you can't enter the borders of Oslan on your own. His constant wars have caused dissatisfaction among many nations. Now they are joining forces to attack Oslan and should have surrounded the imperial court by now."
"What about Sui Sui?" Lan Ze asked anxiously, "Isn't she still in the Imperial Court?"
Sang Yan said, "I have already negotiated with those countries. The Free Alliance will assist them in attacking Oslan, on the condition that they only have her body."
A gust of wind blew by, and Sang Yan raised his head and opened his arms to feel it. "She loves the sky and freedom. I want to bury her in the most beautiful place and let her rest in peace."
Lan Ze shook his head in a trance, muttering: "No, she is not dead, she is just no longer in this world."
He couldn't let Sang Yan bury her.
How scared would Su Su be if she found herself in the cold underground when she came back?
Lan Ze clenched his fists and forced himself to calm down.
He pretended to say, "In that case, take me to get her back. I haven't seen her for the last time."
Sang Yan didn't refuse him, but only said: "Before that, I have to go somewhere first."
Sang Yan brought Lan Ze to the southern battlefield.
On the vast ground, there is a cypress tree with lush branches and leaves. The green vines are intertwined with the brown bark. The crown of the tree is towering into the clouds, like a huge green umbrella, standing upright on the endless plain.
Sang Yan stroked the thick tree trunk with a slightly doting smile on his face.
"She planted this casually. Zong Fang told me that she hid a secret here. I didn't peek because I was afraid she would be angry."
Lan Ze asked: "Why are you here?"
"Because there's a person buried here. You might know him."
Lan Ze frowned in confusion and asked, "Who is it?"
"Anubis."
On the eve of Sang Yan's departure from the Oslan Empire, Zong Fang, who rarely came down from the top floor, found him. He asked him to do one thing before returning to the Freedom Alliance, which was to bury Anubis in the southern battlefield, because there were the remains of his father's brothers and the dead rebels.
"He said that if we can't meet again in life, we must be reunited after death." Sang Yan said.
"Why doesn't he come in person?" Lan Ze has been feeling strange since just now. Labeli and Zongfang have similar possessiveness. How can they tolerate each other?
Sang Yan's dark pupils darkened. After a long silence, he said, "I'll know when I see you."
It was already dark when Lan Ze followed Sang Yan into the Oslan Empire.
But neither of them showed any intention of resting, so the accompanying group had no choice but to keep going.
As they passed a gorgeous manor, a young man in the group who had never been outside the Freedom Alliance exclaimed, "The buildings here are so beautiful."
Someone explained for him, "You've seen the world, right? I'm here all the time. This is called the Legault Palace. I heard it was the former residence of Queen Oslan. Now it's been confiscated and turned into a tourist attraction. Lots of people are checking in outside the door."
Another person retorted, "No, no, you know nothing. This is clearly the Imperial Sword's annex."
The young man's eyes widened and he exclaimed, "Huh? Is that the fallen sword of the Empire, Luka Scorsese?"
"Yes, it's a pity that such an outstanding orc, and the heir of the family, committed suicide."
At this moment, Lan Ze, who was standing at the front, stiffened his back. He looked at Sang Yan in disbelief. After receiving a slight nod from the other party, he froze in place.
The young men behind him were still chatting.
"I heard this wasn't his first suicide attempt. I think he tried to commit suicide several times five or seven years ago, but for some reason, he never succeeded."
"It was probably for the children. At that time, the four children hadn't held their coming-of-age ceremonies yet."
"Well, I guess so. The rumor is that a great colonel died in the bathtub of another palace."
"Huh? Why a bathtub?"
"Who knows?"
"Then, is the Imperial Court we are going to later more magnificent than this Legault Palace?"
"That's for sure, I'll tell you."
The young people chatted animatedly, their lament for the Sword of the Empire as if it were just a commonplace discussion, brought up with only vague key words. Perhaps in a few years, the young orcs would no longer know that the Oslan Empire once held a remarkable figure known as the Sword of the Empire, and that he was rumored to have died for love. They would never understand the reality of the pain and suffering behind these rumors, the struggles and entanglements that lingered on the brink of life and death.
Lan Ze felt extremely sad. He was suddenly afraid that Sui Sui would come back. What would she do if she knew all this?
The ending is happy, so don't worry and watch it later. Will Zongfang appear tomorrow? Check the votes
