Todd then activated the undead parasites, which burrowed out of the ground along the city's shore and connected with each other to form a "dam" built from the parasites' bodies.
The tsunami crashed against these resilient and elastic "dikes," causing the seawater to flow back into the ocean and preventing it from causing serious damage to Muxi City.
After doing all this, Todd watched as Twilight City gradually stabilized amidst the apocalyptic disaster, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
As Rachel watched, she said to Todd, "Twilight City should be fine now. What we need to do now is to find a way to use the apocalyptic disaster to reduce the number of undead, and finally reach the threshold to stop the world from resetting."
Todd nodded and began searching for the distribution of the apocalyptic disaster.
However, during the search, he was drawn to a detail on the projected map.
On the map, the pale blue particles of light representing the souls of living beings were absorbed into the bodies of the undead parasites and then transported deep underground through the parasites.
The foundations of the three beacon towers happen to be at the intersection where these souls converge.
After entering the beacon tower, those souls ascended along the tower's structure and eventually shot directly into the planet's outer space from its apex.
Where were these souls taken?
With these questions in mind, Todd manipulated the will of the Necromancer Mother to explore the space beyond the planet, only to find that the farthest observation range of the Necromancer Mother's will could only reach the planet's atmosphere, beyond which lay only darkness.
The whereabouts of these souls has become an unsolved mystery.
Todd frowned, about to say something to Rachel, when a sharp scream suddenly entered the consciousness of the Necromancer Mother.
"Todd, watch out!"
Todd immediately recognized the voice as belonging to Evie.
Before he could react, a heart-wrenching pain tore him and Rachel out of the consciousness of the Necromancer Mother.
Back in the real world, Todd opened his eyes to find himself suddenly attacked and knocked down from above the Necromancer Mother.
Todd had seven bone spears stuck in his dragon wings and shoulders, while Rachel had one bone spear stuck in her back.
Todd grabbed Rachel as she plummeted, enduring the pain and trying his best to control the direction of the flight as they rapidly descended towards the platform.
When he fell onto the platform, he looked up and saw Evie not far away.
The Valkyrie held her bow towards the sky, but the arrow slipped and fell to her feet.
A huge bone spike pierced through Ivy's chest, pinning her firmly to the ground.
Todd looked towards the top of the volcano in the direction Evie was pointing her bow. A figure completely covered in a black robe was floating in mid-air, slowly descending from the crater.
Near that figure, dozens of bone-spiked undead crawled along the rock wall, running rapidly downwards.
The figure stopped floating directly above the Necromancer Mother.
Two skeletal hands, constantly emitting pale blue light particles, slowly lifted the black hood.
Beneath the hood lay a skull, stark white and lifeless, devoid of any sign of life.
Two eerie blue flames leaped within the dark eye sockets.
The white skeletal skull opened its jaws, and a sound like a wail from the underworld echoed through the cave.
"Todd, it's been a long time."
