Chapter 755 Lifeboat 2

Each sound pierced people's fragile nerves, spreading fear deep within their hearts. The sound was like a sharp arrow, piercing the defenses of the soul, each impact bringing an unbearable sting. It was like the whisper of a demon, whispering softly in the ear, yet crystal clear. Every note was filled with evil and the unknown, awakening the deepest fears in the hearts. Each sound was like a cold snake crawling across the body, bringing a chilling tingling sensation that made the body tremble involuntarily. The sound was like an invisible hand, tightly grasping the heart, kneading it forcefully. Each blow made the breath quicken, and the chest felt like a thousand-pound stone was pressing down. It was like a shadow in the darkness, quietly spreading, gradually devouring the last shreds of reason and courage, plunging people into endless panic, unable to extricate themselves, as if the whole world was crumbling under this terrifying sound.

"What the hell is that noise? Are we all going to die?" As soon as the words escaped someone's trembling lips, they erupted like a boulder dropped into a calm lake, instantly sending shockwaves through the crowd. Panic spread like a plague, spreading through the crowd with alarming speed. Helplessness and despair filled their eyes, their once calm features twisted into a wail. Some began to cry out, their voices tinged with sobs, as if they had foreseen their death. Children clung to their parents' legs, their faces pale, tears streaming uncontrollably. The adults stared at each other, their eyes filled with deep fear, their hands trembling uncontrollably. Some began to run blindly, muttering, "It's over, it's over, it's all over." Their steps were unsteady, bumping into others, yet they didn't bother to apologize. The faint sobs in the crowd grew louder, becoming a chorus of howling. Some collapsed to the ground, their bodies twitching, as if their souls had been torn out of them by terror. The tightly packed crowd began to disarray, each wanting to escape this unknown terror, yet unsure where to go. This panic, like an invisible flame, madly burned through the hearts of the people, rendering them unable to think, leaving only an extreme fear of death.

The base was in turmoil, its already tense atmosphere shattering under the weight of fear. People were fleeing in all directions, shouts, screams, and curses mingling in a chaotic cacophony. Neatly arranged supplies were shattered, scattered across the ground, and trampled by countless panicked feet. Some frantically scrambled for the remaining food and water, engaging in violent fistfights for a single resource. Fists clashed, the sounds of fighting and groans of pain echoed one after another. Doors were roughly opened and closed with resounding bangs. Some hid in corners, their bodies trembling, their eyes blank, their lips mumbling something that was unclear whether it was a prayer or a curse. The lights flickered in the chaos, flickering, adding to the eerie atmosphere of the base. The once orderly corridors were now filled with panicked people, jostling and shoving each other. Those knocked to the ground were instantly trampled by others, emitting piercing screams. Instruments and equipment in the lab crashed and shattered, sending shards of glass flying everywhere with a resounding crack. Documents and papers flew everywhere like white snowflakes, yet no one paid any attention. The base's public address system continuously blared chaotic commands and cries for help, but amidst the clamor, they seemed insignificant, instantly drowned out by the torrent of fear.

Driven by selfish desires, people abandoned their concern for one another and began to fight. The ugliness hidden deep within their hearts was instantly exposed, the dark side of human nature unleashed. Greed and madness burned in everyone's eyes, the former friendship and mutual support gone. Like mad beasts, they brandished their fists, their faces horrified. Some, desperate to grab more food, lunged at others, roaring ferociously. The strong, leveraging their strength, savagely pushed the weak to the ground, punching and kicking them mercilessly, all for a single bite. Others, fighting for precious medicine, tore at each other's clothes and scratched their faces, refusing to let go even when blood flowed. Former neighbors and friends were now enemies, driven only by their own selfish desires. Women, losing their reserve and gentleness, joined the chaotic fray, fighting to protect themselves or to fight for necessities. They tore hair and scratched each other's skin with their nails, their screams and cries mingling. Children cried in terror, but the adults turned a deaf ear, completely absorbed in the frenzied struggle. The ground was littered with fallen objects and bloodstains, the scene a chaotic mess, a scene resembling the end of the world. No one considered morality or ethics anymore, and no one cared about the lives of others. Everyone was blinded by selfish desires, their hearts filled with endless greed and selfishness.

"Give me the food!" A haggard man, his eyes wide and bloodshot, roared at the top of his lungs, veins bulging in his neck as he clawed desperately with his hands. "This is mine! No one else can take it!" Another frail man clutched the food tightly to his chest, curled up like a beast protecting its cubs. His voice trembled, yet filled with determination, his eyes revealing a desperate madness. The two men remained in a stalemate, the air around them frozen, the tension almost suffocating. Then, the argument intensified.
