Chapter 756: Collapse of Faith

"You selfish wretch! Everyone's starving, why do you take it all for yourself?" "What I found is mine! I want to live!" Their shouts rose and fell, each one sharper and more ferocious than the last. Soon, the argument escalated into a physical brawl. The two began shoving each other, using their hands and feet. Their movements were haphazard, driven by pure instinct, a struggle and grabbing. Fists swung, landing on each other's bodies and faces with dull thuds. They grappled, rolling on the ground, stirring up dust that filled the air. Meanwhile, the sounds of bickering and fighting weren't confined to this spot. Similar scenes played out in every corner. "Give me some water! I'm dying of thirst!" "No way! I worked so hard to find it!" People desperately fought for the smallest sliver of survival resources. The intertwining sounds of curses, cries, and fighting filled every corner of the base, adding to the already suffocating atmosphere of despair.

Morality has collapsed. Faced with the threat of survival, morality and conscience have been cast aside. Once considered sacrosanct, principles are now like fragile spiderwebs, easily shattered by the whirlwind of survival. Traditional virtues of respecting the elderly and cherishing the young have vanished. Strong young people mercilessly push the elderly to the ground, simply to grab the meager resources first. Children, who should have been protected, are callously ignored, their cries insignificant in the apathetic crowd. Honesty and trustworthiness have become a distant past. Lies are easily uttered, and people will use any means necessary to achieve their goals. Promises have become worthless, and the bonds of friendship are easily severed. Once-closed friends can become enemies over the slightest gain. Kindness and compassion seem to have ceased to exist. Seeing others injured and starving, people no longer show pity, but instead apathy and numbness. Some even take advantage of the situation, seeking the last glimmer of hope from those already in dire straits. The spirit of mutual assistance and cooperation has vanished, leaving everyone a solitary island, fighting only for their own survival. Public order has been completely shattered, with theft and robbery becoming the norm, and the constraints of the law becoming meaningless. The foundations of morality have crumbled under the weight of survival, and the darkness of human nature, like a surging tide, has drowned the once radiant light. People struggle in this desolate moral ruin, seemingly sinking deeper and deeper, unable to extricate themselves.

Former companions, now enemies, were fighting tooth and nail for meager resources. The days of laughter and shared struggle seemed but a fleeting dream, the cruel reality shattering those beautiful memories. Their eyes were no longer filled with the trust and warmth they once possessed, replaced by cold hostility and determination. Hands that once supported each other now clenched sticks and rocks, swinging at each other without hesitation. Friends who once shared joy and sorrow now spewed the most vicious curses, each word like a sharp knife, piercing each other's hearts. For meager food and a few drops of water, they forgot the vows they once made together, the warmth they had offered each other in times of hardship. The tacit understanding they once shared vanished, leaving only endless hatred and contention. Their faces were stained with dust and blood, but they showed no sign of stopping. Each attack was delivered with all their might, as if they were not once close friends but sworn enemies. In the face of desperate survival, friendship becomes so fragile, so vulnerable. They wrestle with each other frantically, rolling on the ground, the world around them seems to have ceased to exist. The only thing they have left is the little resources. Even if it costs their lives, they will fight to the death.

"Get out of my way, or I'll kill you!" he roared, his voice hoarse and ferocious, a roar like a roar from the depths of hell. His eyes were bloodshot, revealing a frenzied murderous intent, a desperate desire for survival and a ruthless determination to destroy others. His facial muscles twisted, his teeth clenched, and veins bulged in his forehead, every blood vessel threatening to burst. His once kind face now felt strange, as if possessed by a demon. He clutched a battered dagger, the blade gleaming coldly in the dim light, a deadly threat. He leaned forward slightly, poised for attack, like a beast poised to pounce on its prey. Those around him stared in horror, yet their instinct for survival forced them to retreat. In this moment, the ugliness of human nature was fully revealed. The kindness, tolerance, and friendship of the past were gone, leaving only selfishness, cruelty, and indifference. He was no longer the caring, helpful man, but a monster twisted by fear and desire. To survive, to even have a chance of survival, he would not hesitate to murder his former companions. In this desperate situation, his actions served as a mirror, reflecting the ugliness hidden deep within everyone. Shocked and horrified, the public could not help but reflect on whether, in extreme circumstances, they too would abandon morality and conscience, revealing such a hideous side.

Xiao Yi stared at the chaotic scene before him, his heart swollen with rage. His eyes bulged, threatening to burst from their sockets, their glare blazing with fury, as if it could consume everything before him. His chest heaved violently, each breath a heavy breath, like the strain of a bellows. His clenched teeth chattered, and the muscles of his face twitched with intense rage, their lines tense as if cast from steel. His hands clenched into fists, his knuckles white from the strain, his nails digging deep into his palms, yet he felt no pain at all, for the rage within him had overwhelmed all perception. His body trembled slightly, not from fear, but from sheer fury. Xiao Yi felt as if his heart were being squeezed by an invisible hand, each beat a surge of unbearable pain and rage. He roared inwardly, filled with indignation and disgust at this chaotic, chaotic mess. Those once familiar faces now seemed so strange and hateful to him. Xiao Yi wanted to rush forward immediately and use his own strength to quell all the chaos and stop all those who were fighting for their own selfish desires. However, the scene before him made him feel deeply powerless. This feeling of powerlessness intensified his inner anger and made him completely enveloped by rage.
