Chapter 785: Wilderness Construction 3

Everyone's mood instantly darkened after hearing Xiao Yi's words. Their expressions, initially slightly relieved at returning to camp, were now completely overtaken by worry. Lin Meng bit her lip, her eyes revealing a hint of unease and fear. She folded her arms, as if this would bring her some sense of security. Su Yao's brow furrowed, her eyes filled with worry, silently pondering the dangers this rain might bring. Zhao Lei lowered his head and sighed deeply, oblivious to the rain running down his cheeks. Chen Hao clenched his fists, his knuckles white from the exertion, and silently encouraged himself. However, despite their heavy hearts, they also knew that in this forest full of unknowns and challenges, retreating or running away was futile. They must bravely face all difficulties; only then would they have any hope of survival. This realization, like an invisible force, slowly rose within them. Lin Meng raised her head, her eyes gradually becoming firmer, and she silently told herself not to be afraid. Su Yao took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner anxiety. Zhao Lei straightened his back, a look of determination returning to his face. Chen Hao loosened his clenched fists, his eyes alight with fighting spirit. They glanced at each other, seeing the same determination in each other's eyes. In this stormy forest, they would work hand in hand, bravely facing the unknown challenges.

After this torrential downpour, Xiao Yi deeply realized the importance of weather forecasting. Standing in the rain-drenched camp, he gazed at the still-poured rain, his expression solemn. Recalling the sudden downpour, Xiao Yi felt a surge of regret and self-blame. If they had been able to predict the weather ahead of time, they could have been more fully prepared, perhaps avoiding such a disastrous and dangerous situation. His eyes revealed a resolute resolve, knowing that in this forest fraught with uncertainty and challenges, accurate weather forecasting was crucial for their survival. Without accurate weather forecasting, every action could be fatal, even life-threatening. Xiao Yi gritted his teeth, his mind replaying the scene of everyone's panic at the onset of the rainstorm. He knew he couldn't let this happen again. He needed to master the skills of weather forecasting to better lead his team through the forest. He resolved to diligently acquire the relevant knowledge and techniques, observing shifts in cloud cover, wind direction, unusual behavior of plants and animals, and so on, never missing a single detail that might indicate a change in the weather. Because he knew clearly that only in this way could they better cope with various sudden weather conditions in the future and increase their chances of survival.

He began to carefully observe the changes in the sky, the wind direction, and the behavior of animals. Every morning, Xiao Yi would rise early and gaze up at the sky. He watched intently as the clouds drifted slowly across the distant horizon. Sometimes, the clouds were as white as snow, light as a veil, and leisurely spread out; sometimes, they were as thick as mountains, with dark edges, as if they contained endless secrets. He carefully analyzed the clouds' shape, color, and speed, trying to decipher weather signals from them. The changing wind direction also became his focus. Xiao Yi would stand in an open space, close his eyes, and feel the gentle breeze brushing against his cheek or the force of a strong wind. He would stretch out a hand and let the wind pass through his fingers, carefully sensing the temperature and humidity of the wind, judging whether it came from the warm south or the cold north. He would also observe the dust and leaves raised by the wind and the direction of the drifting, using this to infer the wind's shifting direction and the possible weather impacts. Xiao Yi was even more cautious when it came to the behavior of animals. He often squatted in the forest for a long time, quietly observing the flying postures and chirping of birds. If the birds flew low and quickly, and their calls were tense and frequent, he would be alert. He would also pay attention to the activities of squirrels. If the squirrels were busy collecting a large number of nuts and hurriedly hiding them in tree holes, he would know that bad weather might be coming. And those ants, if they lined up in neat long lines and hurriedly moved out of their nests, that was also an important signal of weather changes. Xiao Yi was fully focused, not missing any subtle changes. He knew very well that these seemingly insignificant details could be key clues to predicting the weather and were related to everyone's safety and survival.

Xiao Yi explained, "Besides observing the clouds, changes in wind direction are also a crucial indicator of the weather. When the wind blows from a warm, moist direction, it often signals the possibility of rain; when it blows from a dry, cold direction, it's likely to bring a drop in temperature." His voice was clear and powerful, echoing throughout the empty camp. "Also, animal behavior can provide many clues. For example, frogs croak especially loudly before a heavy rain, and spiders weaving numerous webs usually indicates sunny weather in the near future." Xiao Yi gestured with his hands as he spoke, his expression focused and absorbed. Lin Meng listened attentively, nodding frequently. Her eyes fixed on Xiao Yi, filled with concentration and a thirst for knowledge. Whenever Xiao Yi reached a key point, she would frown slightly, ponder for a moment, and then nod vigorously to indicate her understanding. Lin Meng's hair was a little messy from the wind, but she didn't mind at all, simply listening intently to Xiao Yi's every word. From time to time, she bit her lip, as if trying to remember this important information; from time to time, she squinted her eyes slightly, as if imagining the various weather phenomena and animal behaviors that Xiao Yi described in her mind. Seeing Lin Meng's seriousness, Xiao Yi explained more enthusiastically, hoping to pass on everything he knew so that they could better cope with the unknown weather changes in this forest.
