Chapter 836: Fighting Together 45

"This... this is simply the end of the world..." the driver said tremblingly, his eyes full of fear.

Xiao Yi did not answer, but tightened his grip on the device, with a flicker of determination in his eyes. He knew that he had to find the source of the disaster in order to stop it from spreading.

"Wait for me, Xiaoyu," he whispered, his eyes fixed firmly on the distance. The extreme cold came without warning, as if an invisible giant hand had instantly plunged the entire world into an icy hell. Xiao Yi struggled forward on the street, the freezing rain mixed with ice particles slicing across his cheeks like knives, and the cold wind whistled into his collar, as if to completely rob him of his body temperature.

"No... If this goes on, I will freeze to death..." Xiao Yi's teeth were chattering, and his voice was almost drowned out by the wind.

His vision was already blurred by the freezing rain, and he could barely make out a few meters ahead. The ice on the street was growing thicker, and every step felt like walking on a knife's edge. In the distance, several cars were frozen in the middle of the road, their headlights flickering faintly, as if sending a final distress signal.

At this moment, Xiao Yi's eyes were drawn to a tall building. It was a commercial building in the city center, its glass curtain wall looking particularly cold in the frozen world. At the entrance of the building, the heavy glass door was already covered with ice, but Xiao Yi knew that it might be his only refuge.

"I must go in..." He whispered to himself, with a hint of determination in his voice.

He ran as hard as he could towards the building. The ice was too slippery and he fell countless times, leaving countless tiny cuts on his knees and palms from the ice particles. But he ignored the pain and could only grit his teeth and keep moving forward.

Finally, he arrived at the entrance of the building. The glass door was frozen and could not be pushed open. Xiao Yi quickly took out a knife from his pocket and struck the ice hard. Ice chips flew everywhere. His fingers were numb from the cold and could hardly hold the handle of the knife, but he still persisted.

With a crisp sound, the ice finally cracked. Xiao Yi used all his strength to push the glass door open a gap that was barely passable and quickly got in.

The building was equally freezing cold, but at least there was no biting wind or freezing rain. Xiao Yi leaned against the wall, gasping for breath, the white mist from his breath condensing into frost in the air. His clothes had been frozen stiff, like a layer of ice armor.

"I have to find something to keep warm..." He muttered softly, a hint of fatigue in his voice.

He quickly searched the building and found that the elevator was frozen and unusable. He could only climb the stairs, hoping to find some useful supplies. The stairwell was also covered in ice, and every step was like a race against death.

Finally, he arrived at the top floor of the building - the president's office. The door of the office was half open. Xiao Yi pushed it open and found that the temperature here was slightly higher, perhaps because the heavy curtains and carpets blocked some of the cold.

The office was luxuriously furnished, with large floor-to-ceiling windows veiled by heavy curtains. In the center sat a mahogany desk, upon which lay a laptop and several documents. There was also a fireplace in the corner, which, though long unused, was at least a potential source of warmth.

Xiao Yi quickly walked to the fireplace and tried to light a fire. He found some documents and old newspapers on his desk and managed to build a fire. The flames flickered in the cold wind, bringing a faint warmth. He curled up by the fireplace, feeling the heat from the flames gradually dispel the coldness from his body.

"Safe for now..." he whispered, a hint of fatigue in his voice.

However, his eyes were quickly drawn to the laptop on the desk. The indicator light on the screen flickered in the darkness, as if telling some secret. Xiao Yi quickly stood up, walked to the desk, and turned on the laptop.

The screen lit up, revealing an encrypted folder. Xiao Yi frowned, quickly pulled out a storage device from his pocket, and plugged it into the computer's USB port. After some manipulation, he successfully cracked the folder's password.

In the folder, a file named "Apocalypse Plan" suddenly appeared. Xiao Yi's heartbeat quickened, and he quickly opened the file and read its contents carefully.

"Apocalypse Project...artificial climate manipulation...experimental weapons..." Xiao Yi's pupils suddenly contracted and his fingers trembled slightly.

The contents of the document shocked him. This disaster wasn't a natural phenomenon, but rather the result of human manipulation. A secret project called "Project Apocalypse" sought to control the world through climate weapons, and this extreme cold attack was just the first step.

"This...this is simply crazy..." Xiao Yi murmured in a low voice, with a flash of anger in his eyes.

He knew that the device in his hand might be the only key to stopping all this. However, at this moment, the office door was suddenly blown open by a fierce cold wind, and freezing rain mixed with ice particles poured into the room, and the flames were quickly extinguished in the cold wind.

"Damn it!" Xiao Yi quickly closed his laptop, stuffed the storage device into his pocket, turned around and ran deep into the office.

However, the entire building was frozen, and no matter where he fled, he could not escape the biting cold. Xiao Yi clenched the device in his hand, and a trace of determination flashed in his eyes.

"They must be stopped... no matter what the cost." He whispered, his eyes looking firmly into the distance.
