Chapter 16 The Fat Man Faints

Chapter 16 The Fat Man Faints

The next morning, Han Shuo opened his eyes.

"Sleeping in the car all night really makes me feel uncomfortable."

Stretching, Han Shuo turned to look at the fat man, who was still asleep, and didn't disturb him.

A zombie had somehow wandered over to the car window. Han Shuo, wielding a Tang sword, opened the car door, got out, and easily dealt with it.

After moving the zombie aside and wiping the blood off his Tang sword with his clothes, Han Shuo went to the roadside to relieve himself.

It was barely dawn; Han Shuo had probably only slept for four hours that night.

Looking around, there were no gas stations nearby. Han Shuo took a can and a fuel line from the car, walked to an abandoned car, pried open the fuel tank, and put the fuel line inside.

He needs to prepare some gasoline in advance.

The car still had about half a tank of gas left, and Han Shuo needed to find a new, suitable place to camp. He didn't know how far he would have to travel.

More than a month has passed since the virus appeared.

Not only are there more zombies in the city, but many of them have gradually begun to wander outwards.

Soon, Han Shuo poured two cans of gasoline into his car and checked the fuel gauge. Seeing that it was almost full, he put the tools back into the car.

The fat man still hadn't woken up.

"He can really sleep."

Han Shuo muttered to himself, opening the car doors from both ends. The fat man was still sleeping soundly. Han Shuo was genuinely envious of his sleep quality.

He then ignored it, took some food out of the car, ate breakfast, and looked around.

Within a radius of several hundred meters, Han Shuo eliminated all the threatening zombies. Then, he found a map in a car that had crashed into a tree.

"Great stuff, good stuff!"

The phone I took with me when I left home crashed and I can't track my location anymore; it's also long out of battery now.

Han Shuo laid the map flat on the ground and roughly estimated their current location based on their driving route and time.

I marked it with a pen I found in another car.

"Hmm... there might be some error within this range, but it shouldn't be significant."

Han Shuo previously lived in City A. After leaving with Fatty, they drove for several more hours. City B is right next to City A, so they are currently in a remote suburb between City A and City B.

Han Shuo planned to head towards City B first, but not to enter the city. He would try to find some food and daily necessities on the outskirts.

The food left in the car would be good enough to feed the two of them for another week.

"Okay, let's decide on this for now. We'll see where we set up camp again once we have enough food."

Putting away the map, I realized that more than an hour had passed since Han Shuo got off the bus.

Han Shuo decided not to waste any more time, prepared to turn back to the car to wake up the fat man, and continue on his way.

...

"Fatty, wake up, let's go."

Han Shuo got into the car and called out to the fat man, then casually pressed the start button and started the car.

"Sleeping so soundly! Hey, wake up!"

Seeing that he hadn't woken the fat man, Han Shuo raised his voice a little.

"Huh? Are you a pig?" Han Shuo had already shouted loud enough, but the fat man still wouldn't wake up.

Suddenly, Han Shuo sensed something was wrong. Normally, if Fatty slept this soundly, he would definitely snore. But now, Han Shuo didn't hear Fatty snoring at all.

"Hey, wake up!"

Han Shuo reached out and shook the fat man a few times, but the fat man still didn't respond.

"Is he dead or something?"

Han Shuo thought to himself, and quickly stretched out a finger and placed it under the fat man's nose.

"Thank goodness, thank goodness, he's still breathing and alive."

The fat man's breathing was slow, and Han Shuo could clearly sense that something was wrong with him.

Inadvertently, Han Shuo touched the fat man's exposed belly. Feeling that the fat man was a little warm, he quickly reached out and touched the fat man's forehead.

"Holy crap, it's so hot!"

The fat man has a fever.

"Something's wrong, we have to wake him up!"

Han Shuo shook him vigorously, trying to wake the fat man. Half a minute later, the fat man let out a weak groan.

"Um……"

"Wake up, wake up, Fatty!"

The fat man slowly opened his eyes a crack, glanced at Han Shuo, and then fell into a coma again.

Han Shuo suddenly remembered something and quickly removed the strip of cloth wrapped around the fat man's arm. The fat man's wound was exposed.

At this point, there was no bleeding near the wound, but the flesh that should have been bright red had turned purple, and the area around the wound was even somewhat ulcerated.

"Infected!"

Han Shuo understood. Although he had managed to stop the ice crystal virus in the corpse dogs last night, the two of them lacked good medical supplies and treatment methods, and could only perform a simple cleaning.

After half a night, the fat man's wounds were becoming increasingly serious.

"Damn it, what if you didn't get the virus but died from a fever? Wake up, Fatty!"

Unable to wake the fat man, Han Shuo quickly started the car and drove towards City B.

He knew that too much flesh had been cut off last night, and such a large wound would be too difficult to heal on its own.

If this continues without effective treatment, the fat man definitely won't last two more days.

Han Shuo needs to find alcohol for disinfection, as well as some antibiotics and bandages.

"This area is too remote; there are no shops to be found, how am I supposed to find a pharmacy!"

"We have to go into the city."

...

While looking at the map, Han Shuo stepped on the gas, trying to reach City B before noon to leave some time to find medical supplies for the fat man before dark.

The fat man's condition was getting worse and worse; his fever wouldn't go down, and he might not even make it through the night.

"Damn, so many cars are stuck in traffic."

After driving for an hour, Han Shuo found that the road ahead was completely blocked by vehicles, and he had to take a detour, which added more than an hour to his journey.

Around 2 PM, Han Shuo finally arrived in City B.

We continued driving in, but the paper map wasn't detailed enough; it didn't show the exact location of the pharmacy.

Helpless, Han Shuo could only drive around the streets, hoping that he would be lucky and not go too deep into the city.

Upon entering the city, Han Shuo clearly sensed the appearance of hordes of zombies. Hearing the car, the zombies followed closely behind; if Han Shuo wasn't careful, the car would soon be surrounded.

"Damn it, isn't there a pharmacy around here?"

Han Shuo turned at four or five intersections in a row but did not find a single pharmacy, and he became increasingly anxious.

"If we go any further in, we might not be able to get out; the roads are getting increasingly congested with cars!"

"We can only open two more lanes forward at most. If there are still no pharmacies, we'll have to go back and look for other solutions."

As Han Shuo pondered this, he did his best to avoid the zombies.

Fortunately, perhaps God didn't want the fat man to die, because Han Shuo found a hospital at the last intersection before deciding to return.

The road ahead was completely blocked by cars!
