Chapter 66 Memories (Part 4): Chasing After Someone

Xie Wei described Bai Qianqian as a rose growing on a cliff.

It is common knowledge that roses cannot grow on cliffs, but Bai Qianqian is an exception. No matter how much wind and sun she faces, she always manages to grow with optimism and resilience, and still blooms.

Xie Wei has always been a man of few desires and little interest; almost nothing can attract him, not even people.

But ever since he met Bai Qianqian, Xie Wei's eyes have always been drawn to her. When facing Bai Qianqian, he always feels somewhat unsatisfied and wants to be closer to her.

When Bai Qianqian arrived at school in the morning and saw Xie Wei, she thought about what happened last night. Looking at the person in front of her, the culprit who had caused her insomnia was smiling at her.

Bai Qianqian felt her cheeks getting hot, but she pretended nothing had happened and sat down in her seat.

Xie Wei leaned closer, his voice soft, as if tempting her, "Hey, didn't you sleep well last night?"

'It's all your fault,' Bai Qianqian thought to herself as she glared at Xie Wei.

Xie Wei seemed to understand what Bai Qianqian was thinking, scratched his nose, and chuckled.

"Xie Wei, do these test papers. If you don't understand, I'll teach you." Bai Qianqian took the test papers out of her schoolbag.

This was the first time the girl had ever liked someone. She didn't know what the future held, but she hoped they could go to the same university and then discuss that issue. So, helping him with his studies was the result of her deep thought last night.

Xie Wei raised an eyebrow, looking at the little girl's serious expression, realizing that she had misunderstood. He pressed his tongue against the roof of his mouth and found the little girl's serious expression rather cute.

"What? You want to control my studies before you're even my girlfriend?" Xie Wei couldn't help but tease the girl. "Then what will happen after you become my girlfriend...?"

"Are you going to do it or not?" Bai Qianqian's cheeks, which had been a little hot just moments before, seemed to heat up even more.

"Then when I've finished my studies, you'll agree to be my girlfriend, right?" Xie Wei looked at Bai Qianqian with a smile.

Unable to withstand Xie Wei's gaze, Bai Qianqian turned her head and said, "We'll talk about it later."

Seeing the person in front of him move, he smiled, took the test paper from Bai Qianqian's hand, and began to work on it.

"What should I do if my deskmate doesn't know many of the answers?" Xie Wei said, feigning grievance.

Seeing Xie Wei's aggrieved look, Bai Qianqian's heart softened, and she said softly and gently, "What don't you understand? I'll teach you."

Hearing the girl's coaxing tone, Xie Wei felt that it wasn't so bad to let the girl misunderstand like this for a while.

And so, Xie Wei embarked on a "diligent" learning journey.

Just as Qi Shou and the others were about to call Xie Wei to play ball after class, they saw Xie Wei holding a question and asking Bai Qianqian for help. They were so shocked by the smile on Xie Wei's face that they dropped the ball on the ground, unable to believe what they were seeing.

The sound of the ball falling to the ground caught Bai Qianqian and Xie Wei's attention. Xie Wei gave Qi Shou and the others an unpleasant look, and they immediately grabbed the ball and ran out.

What happened to them?

"I don't know, probably just having an upset stomach and needing to go to the toilet urgently," Xie Wei said, feigning ignorance. "Never mind them, how do we do this problem?"

Hearing Xie Wei say that, Bai Qianqian didn't pay much attention to it.

...

Over the weekend, Director Zhang went out to run some errands. Bai Qianqian was happy to hear from Director Zhang that a volunteer had come to the orphanage. However, she then saw Xie Wei appear at the orphanage gate, dressed in a volunteer's uniform.

"Why are you here?" Bai Qianqian asked, somewhat surprised.

"I'm here to volunteer, and also to take this opportunity to try and win someone over," Xie Wei joked.

Bai Qianqian lowered her eyes, turned and entered the orphanage, leaving behind only the words, "Whatever you want!"

Xie Wei smiled and followed Bai Qianqian into the orphanage. Bai Qianqian instructed Xie Wei on what to do and how to do it, and Xie Wei agreed and immediately got to work.

When Dean Zhang returned, he saw Xie Wei surrounded by children. Xie Wei was playing with the children, and Bai Qianqian was holding a baby who had just learned to crawl and smiling. It was a heartwarming scene.

Dean Zhang glanced at Bai Qianqian, then at Xie Wei, and understood immediately.

"Grandma Dean!" A child called out softly, and everyone realized that Dean Zhang had returned.

In an instant, the children ran from Xie Wei to Dean Zhang, and Dean Zhang became the one surrounded.

Dean Zhang greeted the children with a smile, patted each child on the head, and gestured for them to go play on their own.

"Grandma Dean"

"Dean"

Xie Wei and Bai Qianqian greeted Dean Zhang at the same time, and Dean Zhang just smiled and nodded.

"You're that classmate from last time, your name is..." Dean Zhang couldn't recall Xie Wei's name for a moment.

"Dean, my name is Xie Wei, you can call me Xiao Wei."

"Xiao Wei, you're Qianqian's classmate, so you can call me 'Grandma Dean' too, it sounds more friendly."

“Okay, Grandma Dean,” Xie Wei smiled happily and replied without any hesitation.

Bai Qianqian, who was standing next to them, felt her ears burning as she listened to their conversation, especially when Xie Wei started calling the dean "Grandma," which gave her a strange feeling.

The orphanage would cook for the volunteers, so Xie Wei ate with the children and Bai Qianqian at the orphanage.

The children ate the food that Xie Wei and Bai Qianqian had prepared obediently, without crying or making a fuss.

While Xie Wei went to wash his hands, Bai Qianqian put all the meat from her bowl into Xie Wei's bowl, and cleverly covered it with rice.

After Bai Qianqian finished serving Xie Wei, Bai Qianqian ran out to wash her hands. Xie Wei looked at the bowls on the table, switched their bowls, and sat down to eat as if nothing had happened.
