Qin Lvzheng looked at Ann, puzzled. "Help me?"
He didn’t quite understand what Ann meant by "help."
Qin Sui’an’s sparkling round eyes resembled beautiful glass beads as she brightly said, "Third Brother, Ann can help you tell if someone is lying or telling the truth!"
Actions can be faked, but thoughts can’t be acted out or pretended. With her newfound mind-reading ability, Ann could discern lies by simply hearing what others were thinking, ensuring her brother wouldn’t be deceived.
After a moment of contemplation, Qin Lvzheng grasped Ann’s intention but didn’t want to trouble her, just as she didn’t want to trouble them. More importantly, he didn’t want Ann to appear before the client, who had already shown a tendency to create false evidence. If he was willing to commit such a serious crime, Qin Lvzheng felt he might do something even worse.
Thinking this over, he shook his head, rejecting Ann’s kind offer. "Ann, I don’t need your help. I can handle this myself."
His tone was unusually serious, leaving no room for discussion.
Ann’s earlier excitement vanished in an instant. She pursed her little lips and softly said, "Ann wants to help Third Brother."
"I know, thank you, Ann." Noticing her low spirits, Qin Lvzheng quickly wrapped her in his arms. "This client is not ordinary, Ann. I don’t want you to be in any danger."
Her words reminded him of something important. If he didn’t dismiss the client first, he and Ann would have to pass through the reception area to leave the firm, risking a chance encounter.
After pondering for a moment, Qin Lvzheng decided, "Ann, I’ll step out for a bit."
Though he didn’t specify what he was going to do, Qin Sui’an already understood. Her Third Brother was going to meet the guest in the reception area.
A hint of hesitation crossed her little face, but she eventually nodded. "You go ahead, Third Brother. Ann won’t run around; I’ll wait here for you to come back."
"Good, I’ll be back soon." Qin Lvzheng gently placed her on the sofa, quickly gulped down his freshly brewed coffee, and then left the office.
The assistant’s desk was right next to Attorney Qin’s office door. Hearing the door open, she instinctively looked up.
Seeing Qin Lvzheng emerge, the assistant immediately stood up. "Attorney Qin, is there anything I can do for you?"
Qin Lvzheng glanced at her, remembering that Ann was the only one left in the office, and instructed, "My sister is in my office. Please go in and watch over her. If anything comes up, just contact me. I’m going to see Mr. Lu."
"Yes, Attorney Qin!" the assistant quickly replied.
She tidied up her desk while watching Attorney Qin head toward the reception area. Why was he suddenly seeing Mr. Lu again?
Before she could come up with an answer, the assistant locked her computer and hurried to the office door, cautiously knocking.
Before she could speak, she heard Ann’s familiar little voice from the other side of the door.
"Third Brother isn’t here~ Third Brother is busy~"
The sweet, soft voice made her smile, and she opened the office door just a crack. Looking inside, she instantly spotted the little figure sitting quietly on the sofa.
The assistant smiled gently. "Little sister, may I come in?"
Qin Sui’an, with her round eyes, recognized her as Third Brother’s assistant and nodded. "Yes, of course~"
The assistant stepped inside but paused at the entrance, maintaining a polite distance. "Attorney Qin was worried about you being alone in the office, so he asked me to keep you company."
Hearing this, Qin Sui’an immediately knew the assistant was telling the truth—Third Brother had indeed sent her to be with her.
Shaking her little head, Qin Sui’an replied, "Ann doesn’t need company."
The assistant thought her presence might have made the little girl uncomfortable. "Then I’ll just stand here and wait for Attorney Qin to return. I’ll leave as soon as he’s back."
After a pause, she added, "Little sister, if you need anything, just let me know."
Qin Sui’an almost shook her head again but suddenly blinked, glancing at Third Brother’s computer on his desk.
When she went to fetch coffee for him, he had been worried and had secretly checked on her through that computer.
"Big sister, is there surveillance in the reception area?" Qin Sui’an asked softly. "Ann wants to see Third Brother."
And she also wanted to check if the guest was lying to her Third Brother again.
"Yes, there’s surveillance," the assistant replied, but she hesitated to pull it up for the little girl, knowing her limited authority as a junior assistant.
She took out her phone. "Little sister, please wait a moment; I’ll ask Attorney Qin."
"Okay~" Qin Sui’an sat obediently on the sofa, not urging her or rushing to touch Third Brother’s computer.
The assistant messaged Attorney Qin, informing him that the little girl wanted to see the surveillance from the reception area.
Within seconds, she received a reply from him.
[Attorney Qin: Sure, go ahead and pull it up.]
The assistant breathed a sigh of relief. "Little sister, please wait a moment while I get the footage from the monitoring room."
"Okay~" Noticing her hurried demeanor, Qin Sui’an sweetly called out, "Big sister, there’s no need to rush."
The assistant couldn’t help but smile. "Alright, I won’t rush."
She left the office and quickly made her way to the monitoring room, sharing Attorney Qin’s message with the colleague in charge there.
In less than a minute, the assistant returned to Attorney Qin’s office with a laptop.
She placed it on the table in front of the little girl. "Little sister, here’s the footage from the reception area."
Her colleague had isolated and enlarged the relevant footage for easier viewing.
"Thank you, big sister." After thanking her, Qin Sui’an immediately focused on the monitor.
In the reception area, she saw her Third Brother sitting with an unfamiliar guest.
