In the reception area, her Third Brother was seated with a stranger.
Qin Sui’an simultaneously heard both her brother’s thoughts and those of the unfamiliar guest.
[Qin Lvzheng: Has Ann seen the surveillance? Is she watching me through the monitor?]
[Lu Keliang: Why does Attorney Qin look so serious? Doesn’t he want to make money anymore? Is he planning to back out? He can’t just refuse after taking my money! Even if he doesn’t want to take this case, he has to help me win!]
The assistant stood beside the little girl, occasionally glancing at the laptop screen displaying the surveillance footage.
All the cameras in the law firm had sound recording capabilities, yet, for some reason, no one in the reception area was speaking at that moment—only Ann was silent.
The assistant focused more on the little girl than the footage.
Attorney Qin had tasked her with taking care of his sister.
Looking at the little girl, the assistant couldn’t help but marvel at the outstanding genes of the Qin family.
She wasn’t one to swoon over looks, but every time she locked eyes with Attorney Qin, she felt a flutter in her heart. He was simply too handsome, especially in formal attire. It wasn’t just her; all the female staff at the firm struggled to maintain eye contact with him for more than two seconds.
Fortunately, they were self-aware and never entertained fantasies of becoming Attorney Qin’s partner.
While there had been a few with ulterior motives who tried to join the firm, they were all dismissed by Attorney Qin for their improper intentions, leaving only the diligent employees like her.
Attorney Qin’s sister was equally adorable—fair skin, chubby cheeks, and sparkling round eyes that made anyone want to hug her.
Watching the little girl sit quietly on the sofa, the assistant’s eyes radiated warmth and affection.
As she gazed, the assistant suddenly noticed that the little girl’s face seemed to be getting rosier.
Confused, she glanced at the air conditioning unit; the temperature was comfortable, and she felt no heat.
How strange, why was the little girl’s face turning so red?
Taking a couple of steps forward, she crouched down and gently asked, "Little sister, are you feeling too warm? Or are you not feeling well?"
Qin Sui’an shook her little head slightly. "I’m not hot, and I’m fine."
She stole a shy glance at the assistant and pouted her little lips.
It was the older sister’s compliments that had made her feel bashful.
But her brothers had told her not to let anyone know about her mind-reading ability, so she had to pretend she hadn’t heard anything.
Worried that the assistant might be concerned, Qin Sui’an changed the subject. "Big sister, can you turn up the volume a little? Ann can’t hear clearly."
"Sure, let me adjust it." The assistant quickly raised the volume to the maximum.
Afterward, she looked at the little girl with some worry.
Is she really okay?
Maybe I should get her a glass of water? No, kids prefer something sweet... There are fruits in the pantry; I can make some juice...
Just as the assistant was about to ask the little girl, she heard her soft voice:
"Big sister, Ann wants to have some orange juice~" Qin Sui’an said, craving the sweet juice the assistant had mentioned.
The assistant paused for a moment, then smiled. "Alright, I’ll go prepare it for you."
She quickly left the office to get what the little girl wanted.
With a smile still on her lips, she delightedly thought about how the little girl had wanted the same thing as her! What a coincidence!
Once the assistant left, Qin Sui’an felt relieved from the embarrassment of hearing the compliments.
She rubbed her little face and focused intently on the computer screen.
In the reception area, after a brief and somewhat eerie silence, Lu Keliang could no longer hold back. "Attorney Qin, aren’t you going to take a look? This is the new evidence I found after staying up all night!"
He pointed at the document bag on the table.
Qin Lvzheng glanced at the bag but showed little change in expression. "I’ll take a look later, Mr. Lu. Is there anything else?"
"Attorney Qin, there are only three days left until the court date! I believe this evidence guarantees a win against the other party! You need to see it now!" Lu Keliang said, his tone urgent yet laced with pride, as if he had been waiting for someone to hear his bragging.
But Qin Lvzheng was not impressed.
Calmly, he replied, "Don’t worry about the case, Mr. Lu. Everything is arranged on my end. If nothing unexpected happens, you won’t lose."
Lu Keliang stubbornly wanted to open the evidence right then. Eagerly, he tore open the document bag and pulled out a stack of photos. "Attorney Qin, look! This woman was clearly the one who cheated first! How dare she accuse me and demand a divorce?"
His excitement was palpable as he spoke louder, seemingly believing that volume equated to proof of his innocence. "I spent three hundred thousand on the betrothal gifts to marry her, and now she wants a divorce? I didn’t even ask for the three hundred thousand back! And now she wants my company, my house, my entire fortune!"
Qin Lvzheng cast a brief glance at the photos spread on the table. They showed the client’s wife with another man—while their interaction didn’t seem particularly intimate, it could easily be misconstrued.
Qin Lvzheng didn’t react to the photos and simply reminded him, "Mr. Lu, legally, under your current circumstances, the other party has no obligation to return the betrothal gifts."
"I’m not asking her to return the three hundred thousand! Besides, she’s already spent it all!" Lu Keliang sneered, mumbling under his breath, "She’s just a gold digger! Now that she wants a divorce, she’s still thinking about my money! Ugh!"
The divorce was a certainty, but he wouldn’t let her take a single cent!
Qin Lvzheng glanced at the time. "Mr. Lu, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving."
"Wait, are you leaving again? You’ve seen the evidence, right? She clearly cheated! I even got photos of her lover! It’s all there!" Lu Keliang insisted, urgently pointing at the photos on the table.
"I saw it," Qin Lvzheng replied without changing his expression.
"Right? It’s clear that she cheated with this man first!" Lu Keliang sneered. "That shameless—"
Before he could say anything cruder, Qin Lvzheng interrupted, frowning. "Mr. Lu, I’m leaving now. Please take care, and I’ll see you in court in three days."
Seeing him stand and head for the door, Lu Keliang hurriedly stuffed the photos back into the document bag and rushed after him, trying to shove it into his hands. "Attorney Qin, you haven’t taken the evidence yet!"
