Qin Lvzheng’s brows furrowed even more deeply.
His eyes were cold, and his voice devoid of emotion. "Mr. Lu, under the law, serious cases of perjury will be subject to criminal liability."
Lu Keliang’s expression froze, quickly realizing the implication. He hurriedly countered, "What? Perjury? This evidence wasn’t fabricated by me! I hired a private investigator to capture it!"
Qin Lvzheng replied expressionlessly, "According to our criminal law, acquiring tracking information illegally constitutes a crime."
"Is that really a crime?" Lu Keliang sneered, raising his voice. "Didn’t she take photos of me with Xiaomei? Can’t I sue her too?"
"The plaintiff happened to encounter you dining out with another woman; she didn’t hire a private investigator to track you," Qin Lvzheng said, clearly uninterested in further discussing this topic. "Mr. Lu, I’ll see you in court in three days. I will provide a satisfactory response regarding the case."
"Then what about these photos? Are you saying they’re useless?" Lu Keliang felt a pang as he recalled the money he spent hiring three detectives to follow his wife for a whole month, only to get a few photos.
If these photos were useless, it would feel like throwing his money away!
Qin Lvzheng glanced at the document bag Lu Keliang treasured. "They’re useless. Throw them away."
Those photos didn’t sufficiently prove the woman’s infidelity. Moreover, Lu Keliang had hired private investigators to stalk her, which only provided her with leverage against him.
Lu Keliang’s face flashed with regret and anger.
It was all that woman’s fault! Why couldn’t they just end things amicably? Now she wanted a divorce and was after all his assets!
She was dreaming!
Fortunately, he had contacted Attorney Qin ahead of time. With someone as skilled as Attorney Qin, he was certain to win!
Realizing these photos wouldn’t be useful, Lu Keliang no longer clutched them so tightly. He squeezed the document bag and looked at Qin Lvzheng pleadingly. "Attorney Qin, I’m counting on you! I have to win this case! I can’t leave empty-handed!"
He reached out to grab Qin Lvzheng’s arm, but the attorney swiftly stepped aside. "You’re my client, and I’ll do my best to secure a better outcome for you."
Lu Keliang’s hand fell empty, leaving him a bit embarrassed. "Alright, alright."
Qin Lvzheng didn’t want to waste any more time in the reception area. He strode out, heading straight to his office.
Only Lu Keliang remained in the reception area.
Once Qin Lvzheng was completely out of sight, Lu Keliang’s expression shifted from pleading to one of contempt.
What a greedy lawyer, acting all high and mighty!
Ugh!
If it weren’t for Attorney Qin’s undeniable skill, he wouldn’t bother with such a person.
Lu Keliang slumped back onto the sofa, stretching his legs out in a cocky manner.
He took a sip of the coffee on the table, which had already gone cold while he waited for Qin Lvzheng.
Spitting the bitter liquid back into the cup, he complained, "Disgusting! This law firm is terrible! Don’t they know the customer is king?"
What angered him more was the futility of those photos.
He had hoped to use them to smear his wife’s reputation, but after Attorney Qin’s lecture, they were now worthless.
It was all his wife’s fault! Why be so petty? Even at the stage of divorce, she still wanted to fight over his money!
That money was meant for his son!
Thinking of how his son had never appeared with him in public, Lu Keliang felt a pang of guilt, which further solidified his desire for a divorce.
As long as he was divorced, everything would be fine!
Lu Keliang no longer touched the coffee. He stood up and walked toward the reception door, tossing the document bag into the trash.
Suddenly, he halted mid-motion.
Wait a minute.
If no one knew he had hired a private investigator, wouldn’t that absolve him of any wrongdoing?
A gleam flashed in Lu Keliang’s eyes as he retrieved the document bag from the trash.
A smile crept onto his lips as he quickly exited the law firm.
Meanwhile, the assistant brought freshly squeezed juice to the little girl, thoughtfully placing a straw for her convenience.
Qin Sui’an held the juice cup with both hands, sipping through the straw while watching the surveillance footage on the laptop.
She listened to her third brother converse with the stranger and attentively tuned into the stranger’s thoughts.
Occasionally, her little brows would furrow, and her bright, round eyes would reveal confusion—clearly, she didn’t fully understand.
But that was fine; her task was to remember everything the stranger said and tell her third brother later.
Her brother was much smarter; he would surely understand what those words meant.
The assistant stood beside the little girl, noticing the footage where Attorney Qin left the reception area. She wisely moved to the office door, waiting for him to return so she could get back to her post.
Just as Qin Sui’an finished her juice, she saw the stranger in the footage spit the coffee back into his cup.
Her head spun, and her eyes widened in shock.
The assistant noticed the little girl’s strange reaction and hurried back over. "Little sister, what’s wrong?"
"He... he..." Qin Sui’an blinked, pointing at the stranger on the screen.
Seeing her startled expression, the assistant quickly rewound the footage a bit.
Then she too witnessed that scene.
How disgusting... How could someone be like that? Just drink it, and then spit it back!
She quickly turned to comfort the little girl. "Don’t worry, little sister. Our cups are all disposable."
That image had certainly dirtied the little girl’s eyes.
Qin Sui’an understood now that the uncomfortable feeling she had just experienced was called "nausea."
When Qin Lvzheng returned to the office, Qin Sui’an had already pushed the feeling away. Seeing her brother, she jumped off the sofa and ran over. "Third Brother!"
"Ann." Qin Lvzheng bent down to hug her. "Did you watch the surveillance?"
"I saw it! Ann heard everything too." She tugged at his ear, whispering, "Ann will tell third brother later!"
She remembered not to let outsiders know.
Qin Lvzheng smiled and ruffled her hair.
He turned to the assistant. "Thank you."
"It’s what I should do," the assistant replied, gathering her laptop. "Attorney Qin, I’ll take my leave now."
Qin Lvzheng nodded. "Mhm."
Once the office door opened and closed, leaving just the two siblings inside, Qin Sui’an finally spoke.
"Third Brother, Ann heard a lot of things!"
