Qin Lvzheng held her and sat her down on the sofa, gently patting her back. "No rush, Ann. Take your time."
"Okay~" Qin Sui’an obediently slowed her speech, her soft voice saying, "Third brother, that stranger said he spent a lot of money hiring three detectives to follow and spy on his wife."
Although Lu Keliang hadn’t stated it outright, Qin Lvzheng could guess the general idea, so he wasn’t surprised.
"He also said he was reluctant to throw away the photos he paid for." Qin Sui’an mimicked the stranger’s actions, picking up the document bag he had thrown in the trash. "He picked the photos back up, saying he couldn’t waste money, and as long as no one knew he had hired private detectives, it wouldn’t be his problem."
Qin Lvzheng’s brow slightly furrowed.
What was Lu Keliang planning to do with those photos?
Thinking a bit more, he could guess that Lu Keliang probably intended to spread these so-called "proofs of infidelity" to make others believe the woman had also cheated, tarnishing her reputation.
Qin Sui’an hadn’t finished speaking when she heard her third brother’s thoughts and blinked curiously.
The stranger had mentioned the term "infidelity," but she didn’t understand what it meant, as it was a knowledge gap for her.
Unable to help herself, she asked, "Third brother, what does ’infidelity’ mean?"
Qin Lvzheng hesitated for a moment, subconsciously feeling that such vocabulary shouldn’t be known to Ann, but then thought it might not matter.
After a few seconds of internal conflict, he succumbed to Ann’s eager eyes and patiently explained, "In this context, it means language or behavior that deviates from principles or exceeds boundaries, violating moral ethics."
Qin Sui’an listened, feeling confused, and shook her little head. "Ann still doesn’t understand."
"For example, the client I just met is with another woman while still married; that’s infidelity."
Qin Sui’an blinked, looking bewildered, as if she grasped it but didn’t quite.
"Ann is still young, so this word might be hard to understand," Qin Lvzheng gently patted her head. "That’s okay; you’ll understand it later."
He changed the subject. "Ann, did he say anything else?"
Qin Sui’an immediately refocused on the matter. "Yes! When he was about to leave, he mentioned his son."
"His son?" Qin Lvzheng paused. "He has a son?"
As far as he knew, his client, Lu Keliang, had been married for two years without children.
"Yes, he has a son." Qin Sui’an nodded, repeating what the stranger had said in her soft voice. "He wants to leave money for his son, and his son has never appeared with him. He also said, once he’s divorced, everything will be fine."
Qin Lvzheng’s frown deepened.
He even had an illegitimate child.
Had he known Lu Keliang was such a scoundrel, he wouldn’t have taken the case.
Backing out of the case now wouldn’t just be about the money; professional ethics wouldn’t allow it.
In the past few days, Qin Lvzheng had found a way to help his client win the case, but now his client was hiding so many ticking time bombs. If they were exposed, he would definitely lose—there would be no way to turn it around.
What a foolish and wicked teammate.
Seeing her third brother’s expression grow serious, Qin Sui’an became worried. "Will third brother lose?"
She knew her brother didn’t want to lose and had never lost before.
"It’s not certain yet," Qin Lvzheng said, gathering his thoughts. "Do you want to play by yourself for a bit? I have some things to handle."
Qin Sui’an immediately climbed out of his embrace. "Third brother, go get busy! Ann will play by herself."
"Alright." Qin Lvzheng got up and walked to his desk to organize the case details, ensuring the client wouldn’t make any mistakes.
The big white goose, seeing their serious discussion had concluded, waddled out from behind the sofa and hopped onto the sofa to keep Ann company. "Quack~"
It sensed little Ann’s worry that her third brother might lose the case and offered comfort.
Qin Sui’an stretched out her hands and hugged its fluffy body. "Thank you, big white goose~"
"Quack quack~" Little Ann’s happiness was most important!
Remembering something, the big white goose quickly quacked again: "Quack~"
While little Ann helped her third brother, the big white goose kept an eye on the Qin Corporation building.
Earlier, Ann had looked through a telescope from the floor-to-ceiling window but hadn’t seen her father’s figure. It turned out her father wasn’t in the office.
The big white goose soon shared this discovery with little Ann: "Quack~" Her father has returned to the office!
Upon hearing this, Qin Sui’an’s big, round eyes instantly lit up. She lowered her voice so as not to disturb her third brother, but her excitement was still evident in her small voice. "Daddy is back in the office? Can Ann see daddy?"
The big white goose replied, "Quack~ You should be able to see him now."
Qin Sui’an immediately climbed down from the sofa, tiptoeing as she hurried to the floor-to-ceiling window. She picked up the telescope from the side and eagerly looked in the direction of the Qin Corporation building.
Sure enough, the big white goose hadn’t lied.
Through the telescope, Qin Sui’an saw her father, Qin Haochen, sitting on the sofa with his back to the large window, seemingly looking at something.
Qin Sui’an smiled happily as she looked at her father’s back, and after a while, she noticed that someone was standing across from him—Uncle He Yan.
Seeing He Yan, Qin Sui’an understood her father was still busy with work.
Holding up the telescope, her gaze returned to her father. Even though she only saw his back, she was very happy, her small lips forming a smile.
Meanwhile, in the president’s office of Qin Corporation.
He Yan respectfully reported on work and, after finishing, asked, "President, President Ye wants to meet with you; he seems a bit dissatisfied with the previous project contract."
Here, "President Ye" referred to the president’s brother-in-law, Ye Rongyuan.
Qin Haochen wasn’t surprised; during the last collaboration, Qin Corporation had a significant advantage, so Ye Corporation would surely seek more. "When does he want to meet?"
He Yan conveyed President Ye’s message: "He said if it’s convenient, he’ll be dining at Bay Villa tonight and would like to discuss the project matters then."
Qin Haochen raised an eyebrow slightly.
It sounded like the business discussion was just a cover; the main purpose was to have dinner at Bay Villa with little one.
After all, why would he schedule a business discussion at home?
Qin Haochen pondered for a moment. "Alright, then tonight."
