Chapter 66 Laughing Gas Appears: The laughing gas has been found, but...

"Don't you have anyone else besides Lyra?"

Damian crossed his arms a little, looking somewhat disgruntled. Laila jumped onto his shoulder and gently nuzzled his cheek. Laila hadn't really been involved here for a long time since that incident, but perhaps because the memory of Laila falling into his arms from a great height was too vivid, Damian was intensely worried about her.

"Don't worry, Layla is alright now."

Enid reached out her hand, and Lyra obediently flew over, displaying her wings and beautiful tail feathers. Damian's expression seemed to soften slightly as he reached out and let Lyra's beak gently touch his fingertips, then made a light, cheerful sound.

He could understand Lyra's voice; it was a cheerful expression of reassurance that she was okay.

“I’m curious, if Lyra and the penguin were both there, whose orders would the penguin birds obey?” Barbara leaned closer, her curiosity piqued, and stroked Lyra’s soft feathers. Lyra let the pretty girl be affectionate, proudly puffing out her chest. “It seems Lyra has already said that he believes the birds should listen to him.”

Enid smiled, her eyes crinkling, as she translated Lyra's words with amusement. Lyra proudly bounced on Enid's arm, then took off to signal that she was ready to go out and start patrolling the area, expanding from St. Woods to Gotham. Lyra was actually quite enjoying it.

“Very good, I’m starting to think about what you said at the very beginning.”

"Laila, you are in position at high altitude."

Turning her head, Enid winked at Barbara and began to say the same words she had spoken before. This was accompanied by Lyra's sharp gaze sweeping over the masses, the decaying earth, and the breath of life in Gotham's pitch-black night, as if looking down upon the dark earth. Inside the still somewhat noisy Batcave, a few pleasant laughs still lingered, stirred up by Enid's words.

However, Lyra's keen eyesight caught something else, and he conveyed his thoughts to Enid inside the Batcave. Suddenly, the smile on Enid's face stopped.

She quickly manipulated the electronic devices she was already familiar with, uploading the information that had just been transmitted via data transfer and sharing it on the public channel. The Bat-lights weren't on yet; everyone was still preparing. Enid sent the message quickly. When she opened it, it was a very blurry image that gradually became clearer as it approached—the Penguin.

“It seems there are some people who can’t be spoken of,” Dick shrugged. “Otherwise, why would he appear the moment his name was mentioned? Fia, is there anyone else?”

Upon hearing Dick's words, Enid channeled her power to resonate with Lyra, and almost everyone's vision began to surge toward Enid. Before she could speak, Dick suddenly reached out, gently pressed the back of her hand, and then tapped her brow.

“I thought it was our consensus not to be stubborn, wasn’t it?” His gentle yet firm voice made Enid open her eyes. In her emerald green eyes, she could still see a trace of the city’s shadow left after the turbulence. Her pale fingertips began to blush. “I’m fine. These are the most suspicious scenes right now, and they’ve already been shared.”

After saying that, she took Dick's hand, kissed it lightly, gave him an overly dazzling wink, and then let go of him. She could now flirt with her boyfriend while simultaneously syncing data, a great success thanks to the guidance of Tim and Barbara.

“It seems that Xiaoba’s teaching work is very successful.” Dick’s smile softened slightly as his fingertips touched her soft lips, but considering the current situation, he suppressed the urge to kiss her. It was obvious that Enid was doing it on purpose, so he could only forcibly change the subject.

“It is indeed very good,” Barbara readily admitted, “but I did not teach her how to transmit data while kissing, and she has obviously passed the test in that respect.”

Enid blushed, the blush even more pronounced than Barbara's red hair, creeping up to her ears and staining her skin. It was actually an unconscious reaction, but everyone seemed to just tease her a bit and didn't say anything more, because they were afraid that if they continued, Enid would explode.

"Hmm... so, the clue Bruce mentioned about laughing gas..."

Barbara enlarged one point in the information Enid shared and highlighted it in red. Upon receiving Barbara's prompting, Enid immediately instructed Lyra to closely monitor this line and increase its stealth. Lyra did not go herself but instead ordered nearby birds and black shadows flying in the void to keep watch.

"It has been highlighted. If it's a single line, you can now link to it, so you can check it at any time later."

After communicating with Barbara and Tim, they considered the connection issue. If they could transmit the information that Lyra sent directly, it would reduce the burden on Enid. However, this method was not available. Instead, they took a roundabout approach: they could set aside an important line and share it through the latest data channel.

"I'll take charge of this line. Nightwing and Robin, you'll be in charge of tracking down the Penguin. Oracle, you stay here to support the Druids. The rest of you will be responsible for these parts respectively."

After the clues about laughing gas were released, Bruce took the lead in making arrangements. He always takes on the most critical part himself. The Penguin looks well-equipped and aggressive this time. Most importantly, the Penguin has the Scarecrow stuff that Lyra detected on him.

It seems like they're planning something big this time. Everyone is serious and preparing to take action. The Bat Light still hasn't turned on, but that doesn't mean it's all good news, does it?

"Take this with you?"

Enid stood up and handed Bruce the all-purpose purification potion that had passed Batman's final test. The potion was pre-packaged in a specific container for easy consumption and handling. Bruce took the potion from Enid and gestured for everyone else to take it, then winked at Enid to explain it to him.

Receiving a look from her father, Enid pursed her lips, a little nervous.

"We have verified all the villain information we have collected so far. It can be perfectly dissolved without side effects. It has been tested and there are no allergic reactions. It can be used in combination with all our medicines and others without any adverse reactions. The purification reaction lasts for 10 minutes."

After saying that, Enid handed out a lot to everyone. Jason took it and carefully placed it away with the other things. He said in a slightly joking tone, "Next time you can prepare something for me, something similar to Tim's. After all, I'm your brother, don't show favoritism."

"Of course! Jay! You'll definitely get a share—"

It's talking about a portable space. Of course Enid knows that. Actually, it's the birthday present she's preparing. It's almost finished and in the final stages of completion!

"Alright, let's go."

Jason ruffled Enid's hair and happily set off with the others. Enid continued to stay in touch with Lyra to discuss the details and occasionally shared information with Barbara for confirmation.

“Don’t worry, you’ve already passed the crisis assessment course with flying colors,” Barbara said softly. She understood all too well why Enid was nervous. Especially when everyone else was outside at crucial moments, she was worried that her intelligence-gathering ability was insufficient and that she might miss important information.

Because of Enid's special circumstances, Bruce gave her special guidance in this course. Regardless of whether Enid was prepared to participate in this course in the first place, it was very important for her to learn to distinguish whether the information provided by Lyra was important and to collect clues from the information. This way, she wouldn't have to worry about anything. Therefore, Bruce took this course very seriously, and Enid also learned it very well.

Although her investigative skills are lacking, her intuition is very sharp and is correct nine times out of ten. If she occasionally has a strange feeling and shares it, Barbara can cover for her. Moreover, besides Lyra, there are also surveillance devices, after all, Barbara is an oracle.

“It’s good that you’re here,” Enid said frankly, admitting her embarrassment. Before she could finish her sentence, she added, “The Bat-lights are on. It looks like something’s happened.”

Barbara switched the camera to show Red Robin, who was now closest and had already rushed over.

As the Bat-Signal flickered in the Gotham sky, a growing sense of unease lingered in Enid's heart. It had nothing to do with intuition or premonition; she had no talent for divination. It was simply out of pure worry for her family.

"B, how's the situation?"

“Found it,” Bruce glossed over the whole process. Barbara and Enid didn’t ask about the potion’s usage, since they would know when they came back to get it. “Have Naya take it back.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the black cat emerged from Bruce's shadow. It lightly jumped onto Bruce's shoulder and then, together with the box of laughing gas that Bruce had carefully packed away, returned to the Batcave from the shadow. Alfred had already prepared a specially made box to seal the laughing gas again.

"It has been stored away."

"The penguins have already gone home."

Dick's slightly relaxed voice came through the channel. This was the first time he had seen the penguin looking so panicked, after all, his little birds didn't listen to him, did they? Dick also specifically instructed Lyra to transmit the image to Enid. After receiving Dick's instructions, Enid used magic to convert the image into a video and then transmitted it through the data.

Now everyone could see the Penguin's expression, and Bruce couldn't help but smirk slightly.

"As expected, Lyra is fine."

“I admit, Leila is qualified.”

Damian spoke quietly after Enid finished speaking and gave the first pass, so Lyra got Damian's pass before Enid did—that's really something to celebrate!

Just then, other good news came in one after another, except... from Red Robin.

I usually just gloss over the villains.

I promise there's no knife, so don't worry!
