Chapter 219 Welcome to the Maldives

Chapter 219 Welcome to the Maldives

After the plane landed in Malé, Xiang Yun planned to spend his five-day vacation on the resort island.

Hotel staff were waiting for them at the airport exit.

"Hey! Mr. Xiang, Ms. Xu, are you here for your honeymoon?" The staff member who came to pick them up spoke fluent Mandarin. "You can call me Xiao Li, I like this Chinese name."

Xu Songning was surprised that he spoke Chinese so well, but wasn't the name "Xiao Li" a bit too hasty?

"Hey, we're not here for our honeymoon, but it's kind of like that."

"You have excellent taste! Welcome to the Maldives! Have a wonderful time!"

Xiao Li skillfully placed their luggage on the trolley and led them to the seaplane area. He explained the route to them and shared the local customs and culture.

After an eight-hour flight, they still had to take a half-hour seaplane ride to reach their booked resort hotel.

In the Maldives, a resort hotel can occupy an entire island.

"This is your island, you can play around as you like," Xiao Li said with a smile.

Xu Songning was a little sleepy, but when she stepped firmly onto the sand, she excitedly stomped her feet in place. The soft sand sank with her movement, burying half of her high heels.

The resort staff lined up to greet them, with champagne laid out on a pristine white table, the tablecloth fluttering in the salty sea breeze.

Xu Songning raised his champagne glass and clinked glasses with Xiang Yun, "Brother Yun, I wish us a happy first trip together and that we create some wonderful memories."

"I hope we can travel together and visit more places around the world in the future." Xiang Yun smiled, reminding her, "Even though it's champagne, don't drink too much."

Xu Songning replied, "Okay, okay, I'll try it."

She took a small sip, and the fruity bubbles burst in her mouth. She frowned on one side, an expression that amused Xiang Yun.

“It’s 12 degrees. If you want another sip, that’s fine too,” Xiang Yun said.

Xu Songning took another sip. "It has the aroma of lemon and white peach, and it tastes pretty good."

Xiang Yun spoke to the local butler in English, saying, "Hello, could you please bring a bottle of this champagne to our room?"

“Yes, sir,” the butler replied.

"Didn't you say I shouldn't drink too much?" Xu Songning put down his wine glass and followed the butler toward the hotel.

"You can drink when you get back tonight; a little alcohol can help you sleep," Xiang Yun said.

The resort hotels here offer room changes, with options for sand or water, each with its own unique character.

On the housekeeper's recommendation, they stayed in a room by the water for the first three days and in a sand room for the next two days.

A wooden structure with a conical roof, and a glass house.

Sunlight streamed into the room, and several wooden planks were taken from the floor and fitted with transparent glass.

Xu Songning walked barefoot on the glass floor, below which lay clear, turquoise seawater, with occasional schools of fish swimming by.

Pushing open the glass door, the seawater rushed up and rolled around their ankles.

"Brother Yun, come quick!" Xu Songning twirled happily in the seawater.

Xiang Yun put down his luggage, rolled up his trousers, and stepped into the sea.

He stared at the turquoise sea, which rushed in from afar, submerging his ankles, splashing up tiny waves, before returning to the embrace of the sea.

The cycle repeated itself, and he felt a little dizzy.

A finger gently flicked his forehead. "Silly Yun-ge, don't stare at the seawater, you'll get seasick."

He looked up, and Xu Songning flicked the remaining seawater from his hand onto his face, laughing heartily.

"Songning," Xiang Yun called out to her.

"What?" Xu Songning replied happily, and quietly took the small water ladle that was placed on the railing.

Xiang Yun took a step forward, about to take her hand, when a ladle of water exploded above his head like a shower of flowers.

"Hahaha, Yun-ge, why didn't you dodge?" Before Xu Songning could finish speaking, a ladle of water was thrown at her.

She couldn't dodge and half of her body got soaked.

The seawater was their ready-made weapon. The two of them chased each other and splashed water on the shallow beach like children, leaving all their troubles behind.

After playing for a while, Xu Songning was too tired to run anymore. She threw down the water ladle and surrendered, "Brother Yun, I'm done playing, I'm tired."

The two couldn't help but laugh when they saw each other getting soaked.

Xu Songning ran towards him, jumped up, and hung on Xiang Yun's waist.

Xiang Yun caught her steadily and supported her.

With her legs casually draped over Xiang Yun's waist, Xu Songning lowered her head and gave Xiang Yun a kiss that smelled of seawater. Seawater dripped from her hair down their cheeks. At that moment, no one cared about their wet clothes.

Xu Songning's fingers slid across his brow, smoothing out the furrow. She gently kissed that spot, and in the glow of the setting sun, their silhouettes were incredibly beautiful.

They had planned to go out that evening, but after they finished showering, they found it was raining.

July is the rainy season in the Maldives. Raindrops, like an endless string of beads, patter against the glass windows, splashing and exploding as they hit the ground.

Their room had a huge floor-to-ceiling window facing the sea.

The bed faced the window, and Xu Songning lay on the bed listening to the pitter-patter of the rain, which made her drowsy.

Xiang Yun was taking a shower with his eyes closed, water spraying from the showerhead above his head, while it was raining outside; the two seemed to blend together in a strange harmony.

There was always a shadow in his heart; he could hide it from others, but not from Xu Songning.

Xu Songning didn't say it out loud, but every little gesture seemed to be coaxing him, making him feel suffocated.

He should be stronger and treat this accident as a past incident that he has already dealt with, and he shouldn't let it affect his life anymore.

The sound of water in the bathroom finally stopped. Xiang Yun had a towel wrapped around his waist, and water from his hair flowed down the shadow of his abs.

Xu Songning glanced back at him. It was a gloomy, rainy day, and the room was dark, with only the light from her phone screen shining through.

She turned her body, propped her head up, and stared at him, even raising one eyebrow.

Xiang Yun had a feeling of being teased. He looked down at himself and asked, "Do I look good?"

"It looks good." Xu Songning slowly got up, snuggled into Xiang Yun's arms, and rubbed her wet hair against his neck. "Brother Yun, help me dry my hair, I don't want to move."

The hairdryer was hanging on the wall, and Xiang Yun could easily reach it.

The sound of the wind blocked out the sound of the rain outside; at this moment, only the body heat of the two people was touching.

The knocking was also blocked out; the butler knocked twice, seemingly without getting annoyed.

It wasn't until the second time that Xu Songning, who wasn't paying attention, heard the noise.

"Your hair is still a little damp." Xiang Yun touched her hair.

"It's alright, the butler must have come to deliver the wine."

Xu Songning's hair slipped through his fingers, and in the instant he tried to catch it, all that remained on his fingertips was moisture.
