Chapter 97 Kissing Hands
Gu Xing sent his location; it wasn't too far from the airport. Xiang Yun used his phone as a navigation device, mounting it on a phone holder so Xu Songning could easily see the route.
"Brother Yun, when are you coming with me to see Sanhua? You, as her brother, don't seem to have forgotten about Sanhua, do you?" Xu Songning glanced at him sideways.
Xiang Yun propped his arm against the car window. Without his phone to play with, he stared blankly out the window until Xu Songning spoke, which brought him back to his senses.
"I haven't forgotten. I've been too busy lately, flying several nights in a row, so I'm a bit tired. Let's check the time later; is it adjusting well?"
Xu Songning felt a pang of sadness at the mention of night shifts. She also worked night shifts and felt exhausted every time, as if she had worked two days straight. Xiang Yunfei's flight required him to spend the night outside before returning to Shanghai, which explained why she hadn't seen him for so long.
"It's adapting quite well. The day we sent it away, it was so attached to me. Now it's playing really well with its new mom's two cats and doesn't want to leave. You haven't visited it in so long, it might have even forgotten about you," Xu Songning said with a smile.
"Give him some snacks, and he should remember."
"Wow, your brother spoils you too much. You need to eat less snacks, otherwise you won't want to eat meals."
The two chatted slowly along the way, not saying much, just a few words whenever something came to mind, and the quiet in the car didn't feel awkward.
This is probably the most comfortable state for two people to be together.
Xiang Yun leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes, but didn't actually fall asleep; he was resting with his eyes closed.
The car was parked in front of a courtyard, and the owner's son told her to park in a parking space.
The courtyard was decorated like a farmhouse inn, with two tables set up at the entrance, all full of people. When they saw Xiang Yun in his uniform, several people couldn't help but turn around and take a second look.
The owner's son is a rough-looking 20-year-old man who is the young owner of this shop.
He was all dark-skinned and had a simple face. "Bosses, do you have any reservations? If you don't have a reservation today, you might not be able to get a table."
"Wow, is your business so booming? There's not even a signboard. Where did Gu Xing find this shop?" Xu Songning asked in surprise.
The shop is unremarkable in appearance; from the outside, it looks no different from an ordinary farmhouse restaurant.
The young boss laughed, patted his head, and said in a simple and honest manner, "So you're Mr. Gu's friend! He's booked a private room, let me take you there."
As he walked, he introduced the place to the two of them, "We only accept reservations. New customers usually can't find us. Our business relies on referrals from regular customers. As you can see, this is a farmhouse restaurant. All kinds of chickens, ducks, geese, cattle, sheep, pigs, shrimp, crabs, clams, mussels, and organic vegetables are raised on our own farm. They're very healthy."
"Then we'd better have a good taste," Xu Songning said politely.
She tilted her head and raised an eyebrow at Xiang Yun, whispering, "Gu Xing is really something, he even managed to find a place like this."
“He has a lot of ideas; there’s nothing he can’t do, only things he hasn’t thought of,” Xiang Yun replied.
The owner led the two to the door of a private room. The door was a brown wooden board, and it looked a bit dirty, whether it was intentionally made to look old or the guesthouse was old.
Xiang Yun, who had been walking behind Xu Songning, stepped forward and opened the door for her first.
As soon as the door opened, Luo Xiao, who was sitting directly in front of the door, looked up and met the two people outside.
Luo Xiao smiled gently, raised his hand to greet the two, and then stood up. His tall figure was imposing, but his expression was gentle and did not make people feel uncomfortable.
Xu Songning exclaimed dramatically, "Wow, that's so high, Captain Luo!"
"Just call me Luo Xiao, Miss Xu. It's a pleasure to meet you." Luo Xiao extended his hand in a gentlemanly manner.
Xu Songning stole a glance at Xiang Yun, and out of the corner of her eye, she saw Gu Xing's amused expression.
She reached out her hand, wanting to shake his hand.
Luo Xiao placed his hand on her palm, gently turned the back of her hand over, elegantly raised it, and placed a kiss on the back of her hand.
Xiang Yun did not sit down, but stood beside Xu Songning. When he saw this scene, his breath hitched and his pupils contracted instantly.
Luo Xiao released her hand. "A hand kiss, I hope I haven't been too presumptuous."
"No, it's my honor," Xu Songning said with a smile.
"Hurry up and sit down. I've ordered some food. See if there's anything else you want to eat, and order some more. I'm giving you guys a chance to rip me off." Gu Xing pulled his brother down to sit and patted him hard on the shoulder.
After Gu Xing helped the man sit down, he said softly, "Hey, why are you making such a scary face? It was just a kiss on the back of his hand. It's just foreign etiquette. They're very gentlemanly towards ladies."
"A gentleman?" Xiang Yun said expressionlessly.
"Pfft, hahahaha." Gu Xing suddenly laughed. Xiang Yun looked at him like he was an idiot, but he didn't mind at all and laughed even louder.
Xiang Yun is so adorable! How can you so seriously say someone isn't a gentleman? It's perfectly normal.
When they flew international routes together, they had seen other crew members waiting at the door for all the female crew members to disembark, with the captain extending an arm as a handrail.
Cheek kisses and hand kisses are common greetings among foreigners, so if Luo Xiao were to give a cheek kiss...
Xu Songning took in Xiang Yun's reaction, feeling pleased. Teasing Xiang Yun was one of her daily tasks.
She sat in her seat, her fingers lightly tapping the back of her hand.
Luo Xiao didn't actually kiss the back of her hand; he used his own thumb to cushion it. He kissed his own thumb.
From an outsider's perspective, Luo Xiao kissed the back of her hand.
Xu Songning: "Captain Luo, your Chinese is very good."
Luo Xiao: "Yes, there is a Chinese learning environment at home."
Xu Songning: "Did you come to China just for a meal? I heard that Gu Xing tricked you into coming here."
"Hey hey hey! This is a rumor!" Gu Xing exclaimed in surprise, quickly waving his hand and pointing at Luo Xiao to explain, "He came because he had something to do, but it has nothing to do with me. I just gave him a ride along the way. He bought his own first-class ticket."
"What's wrong?" Xu Songning asked, resting his chin on his hand as he looked at Luo Xiao.
Luo Xiao took a sip of tea, a hint of sadness in his eyes, "I've come to see my brother."
The atmosphere grew heavy. Xu Songning realized he had asked the wrong question, as if he had touched a sore spot. Gu Xing had said that his brother had stopped flying, apparently because of some matter that led to his complete withdrawal from the flying team.
Pilots have bright futures in terms of both salary and career development.
If a middle-aged pilot leaves the flight crew, it is very likely that he has serious physical or psychological problems that prevent him from performing his duties.
In either case, the blow to him would be devastating. Moreover, he has a younger brother who is a pilot. How must the older brother feel every time he sees his brother go off to fly a flight?
Xu Songning quickly changed the subject, "Oh, then you must eat more. Try all eight major cuisines of China. You won't be able to eat such delicious Chinese food when you go back to Qatar."
"Miss Xu, are you trying to comfort me?" Luo Xiao tilted his head to look at her.
