Chapter 22 (Part 2) - Meeting an Old Friend Again
Seeing his formidable rival adopt a serious stance, Wei Lan's eyes suddenly flashed with a sharp light: "Very good, don't lose too badly this time." As soon as he finished speaking, a blurry figure flashed by, and Wei Lan had already disappeared.
Fifteen minutes later, the small suite was riddled with bullet holes, and almost all the furniture and decorations were unrecognizable. The entire suite was a mess, as if a typhoon had swept through. The two people, no more than ten meters apart, stood quietly in the ruins, like warriors who had just engaged in a life-or-death battle—although one of the "warriors" might look a little out of place.
"You lost." Wei Lan raised the gun barrel, gently blew away the white smoke, and looked quite smug. "I'm really sorry, I got a little too excited—are you alright?"
He had a basis for his statement. Even after a fierce, high-level battle, his clothes were almost completely undamaged, only slightly disheveled. The woman in the cheongsam standing diagonally opposite him, however, had her buttons undone, revealing her delicate collarbone. Her disheveled hair contrasted with her disheveled appearance, giving her a slightly disheveled yet alluring look. Even more striking, the slit in her cheongsam had ripped all the way down to her waist, revealing the edge of her pure white underwear.
Wei Lan noticed the subtle slit, of course. He lowered the gun barrel and whistled lightly, "What a pity, it's not black."
The beautiful woman, whose beauty was on full display, didn't care about his attitude at all. Instead, she smiled mysteriously and said, "No, you lost."
Wei Lan was startled and reflexively turned to look at the doorway, only to hear a whistling signal flare outside, followed by a loud bang, like something exploding.
The door suddenly opened, and a tall figure appeared behind it, a black gun barrel pointed directly at Wei Lan. Wei Lan looked closely and saw it was one of his difficult masters—or rather, another of his masters, Xu Qi. Before he could react, another person emerged from behind Xu Qi, Yan Jun, who had been staring at the rocket launcher. Wei Lan quickly turned his head and, sure enough, saw Si Qiang holding the pistol to him, the eerie smile on her lips turning into a cold, mocking expression.
Seeing the situation reversed, Wei Lan's eyes flashed with arrogance: "I'm truly flattered that so many important figures have come to deal with a nobody like me. How about we have a game?"
"Judging from the current situation, the other two don't have the time to entertain you, sir." Yan Jun's gruff voice rang out, followed by a loud thud as something heavy was slammed to the ground. "How about I play with you? It would be an honor to have the chance to duel with the renowned 'Double Soldiers'!"
Looking at Yan Jun, who had already put down the rocket launcher and was holding a sniper rifle, Wei Lan couldn't help but lick her lips excitedly: "I couldn't be happier than you."
"I apologize for interrupting your enjoyment, but I regret to inform Mr. Wei that your master is waiting for your report, and I suspect he is already impatient." Si Qiang pointed the gun barrel downwards, and the phone screen in Wei Lan's pocket was already lit up, gleaming dimly through his clothes.
Wei Lan's expression changed. He knew in his heart that Si Qiang had definitely put a lot of effort into him; otherwise, she wouldn't have known about Xu Qingjue and his private connection. But since that was the case, there was no need for him to waste any more time—his mission was complete, and it was time to leave. Although he was somewhat regretful that he hadn't been able to have a proper game with Yan Jun, he could only wait for the future. Thinking of this, he slowly closed his eyes.
Seeing that he had closed his eyes again, Si Qiang immediately sensed something was wrong and tried to stop him, saying, "Not yet..."
"No, it's over." Wei Lan opened his eyes again, a refined and elegant smile returning to his face. He casually reached for his phone and pressed the call button. "Congratulations, Mr. Xu, you two have passed the test perfectly. You can rest assured."
"A test?" Si Qiang frowned, turning to look at Xu Qi, only to find the other's expression blank, showing no surprise whatsoever, clearly having known about it all along. He quickly processed the clues in his mind and realized that this was all a play directed by Old Master Xu—the kind where someone could be eliminated at any moment.
"Oh, looks like we can't play this time." Yan Jun shrugged, picked up the rocket launcher and nodded to Xu Qi. "We've dealt with those people outside pretty well, and your man seems to be alright, so I won't get in your way. We can talk another day."
After saying that, he turned around nimbly and strode away. The atmosphere among the remaining three people in the room was awkward, and for a moment no one spoke.
"Don't you have anything to say?" Finally, Xu Qi broke the silence. His gun did not leave Wei Lan's side, and his face was expressionless. No one knew what he was thinking.
Wei Lan spread his hands: "You've seen it all. He's Mr. Xu's man, but I... have always been loyal to you."
“But you are one person,” Si Qiang couldn’t help but point out. He had noticed Wei Lan’s dual personality before, but hadn’t delved into it deeply. It wasn’t until the chase in California a few months ago that he realized the independence of the other Wei Lan. These past few months had been enough for him to understand the inside story and had given him the best entry point to break the deadlock.
