Chapter 3, "Why Me?"

Chapter 3, "Why Me?"

Song Wan tearfully gave in: "I'll have dinner with you, I'll have dinner with you!"

"But I don't want to eat right now." The boy smiled innocently.

The warm, humid air brushed against her earlobe, and Song Wan heard his flippant whispers.

With tears welling up in her eyes, she shook her head vigorously.

Chen Jianjin straightened up, cupped her face, and kissed away the tears from the corners of Song Wan's eyes. He moved his fingertips down and gently touched her chest, saying, "Here."

As he spoke, he used his thumb to rub her reddened lips, "Here."

"Pick one, my darling, and give it to me."

Song Wan gritted her teeth, silently refusing.

After a moment of stalemate, Chen Jianjin nodded, hooked her thin bra strap with his long fingers, and lowered his face.

"I choose! I choose..."

Chen Jianjin stopped what he was doing, straightened up, tilted his head and raised an eyebrow at her.

After a moment of silence, Song Wan closed her eyes in despair and parted her lips a tiny crack.

Chen Jianjin chuckled and reminded him, "Baby, I meant, send it to my stomach."

Song Wan's eyelashes trembled, and tears welled up in the corners of her eyes again.

Chen Jianjin kissed away the wetness and touched her face, saying, "You're as soft as water."

He sighed, stopped pressuring her, and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

Not long after, Chen Jianjin stopped what he was doing. Just when Song Wan thought it was over, he patted her face and said, "Stick out your tongue."

This time, Song Wan dared not provoke him again and obediently opened her mouth.

Chen Jianjin kissed her deeply, his tongue swirling in her mouth, each kiss feeling as if he wanted to chew her up and devour her.

Song Wan had difficulty breathing, and her face turned red.

The more he kissed her, the lower she fell, so Chen Jianjin hooked his arm around her waist and lifted her up.

Kiss her for a while, then let her catch her breath before continuing the kiss.

And so, after an unknown amount of time, Chen Jianjin finally finished kissing her, and Song Wan's lips were so red they were almost unbearable to look at.

"Baby, I love you so much."

Chen Jianjin's heart was pounding as if it would burst at any moment. He placed her wrists behind her neck, buried his face in her warm neck, and slowly calmed his breathing.

After leaving the restaurant, Song Wan was once again dragged into the car by Chen Jianjin.

As the sun set, the orange-yellow sunset was breathtaking, a sight that would normally make anyone stop to take a picture. But now, Song Wan hadn't eaten all day, her stomach was upset, and she had to be wary of the vicious wolf that might go berserk at any moment. She had no time to think about anything else.

She huddled in the other corner like a quail as soon as she got on the bus.

Chen Jianjin endured it for a long time, but finally reached out and pulled the person onto his lap.

Song Wan dared not move, arching her back to try and create some space.

Chen Jianjin gently pulled her back, placing his palm on her stomach. "You haven't eaten all day, are you hungry?"

Through the thin fabric, the warm and tingling sensation made Song Wan nervous. She pressed down on the back of his hand and shook her head, afraid that he would touch her further.

This was the first time in my life that I had ever taken his hand.

Chen Jianjin was in a good mood. He turned his wrist and tightly held her five fingers, rested his chin on her shoulder, and said with a smile, "How about I cook for you when we get home? I've learned a lot of dishes."

"I...I..." Song Wan stammered out her request, "I want to go back to school, can...can you take me back?"

She no longer had the courage to confront them head-on.

The police couldn't control him, and she couldn't fight him either.

In the end, those who resist will only suffer.

Chen Jianjin didn't want to be separated from her, so he squeezed the back of her hand and said, "From now on, baby, you'll live with me."

Song Wan stared in horror, shaking her head repeatedly.

Chen Jianjin composed himself, his eyes gradually darkening.

This is a sign that he is about to get angry.

Song Wan's mind was in complete turmoil, but she still had to force herself to calm down.

"Chen, Chen Jianjin, have you ever been in a relationship?"

Her question was so abrupt that Chen Jianjin's expression went blank for two seconds before he smiled and said, "Baby, I belong to you, body and soul."

Song Wan took a deep breath, ignoring the ambiguous meaning in his words, and continued, "Chen Jianjin, this isn't how relationships work. It's not about one person forcing the other; it's about both people being willing. Do you understand?"

Chen Jianjin nodded, "I'm making sure my baby does it willingly."

As he spoke, he chuckled and touched her face. "Baby, you wouldn't let me kiss you yesterday, but today you've already stuck your tongue out by yourself. You're so good."

Instantly, her blood rushed to her head, and Song Wan was so angry that she wanted to tear the person in front of her to pieces.

She's tired. Why isn't the Earth destroyed yet?

Song Wan was still taken to Chen Jianjin's apartment.

The apartment is large, a three-story duplex. The first floor has a living room, dining room and maid's room; the second floor has a study and master bedroom; and the third floor has a storage room and a media room.

Song Wan was led into the master bedroom.

“Sweetie, stay in this room. I’m next door. There’s a call button by your bed. Just press it when you want to see me.”

As he spoke, Chen Jianjin demonstrated it for her once more.

Song Wan was still thinking about leaving. "I have an early class tomorrow, can you let me go back?"

"Okay." Chen Jianjin nodded.

Song Wan's eyes lit up, but then she heard him continue, "I'll take you back to school tomorrow morning."

"Chen Jianjin!"

Overwhelmed by a profound sense of powerlessness, Song Wan finally broke down, covering her face and burying her face in her knees as she cried.

She didn't know what she had done wrong, or why she had to stay in this godforsaken place and endure the constant harassment from a mentally unstable lunatic.

She cried so sadly that Chen Jianjin's heart broke. He knelt on one knee at her feet and cupped her face in his hands.

The girl's eyes were red at the corners, and she looked pitiful, like a rabbit in a cage.

"Why me?"

Why is she the one who's so unlucky?

Chen Jianjin lowered his eyes, gently brushing his thumb across her delicate cheek, then kissed away her tears, his gaze resolute, "Wanwan, you will fall in love with me."

They are the most perfectly matched pieces of the puzzle in the world.

They were a match made in heaven.

Song Wan's emotions were too volatile, and she hadn't eaten all day. In the end, she cried herself unconscious in Chen Jianjin's arms.

When I woke up again, it was already late at night; I was woken up by hunger.

The room was dimly lit with the curtains drawn. Song Wan looked for her phone to light her way, but after fumbling around under her pillow, she realized that this wasn't her school dormitory.

She sighed, reached for the bedside lamp, and touched something that looked like a switch. She pressed it twice but nothing happened, so she gave up.

At the same time, the door was pushed open from the outside, and the chandelier above her head was turned on. Song Wan squinted for a moment to adjust her eyes and found that it was Chen Jianjin.

He was wearing pajamas, his hair was messy, and he looked like he had been woken up, giving him a kind of weary and decadent beauty.

Song Wan pulled the blanket to her chest with both hands, looking at him warily.

Chen Jianjin smoothed his hair a couple of times to make himself look less disheveled, and asked her, "Are you hungry?"

Song Wan shook her head, but her stomach growled at an inopportune moment.

She pursed her lips and remained silent, but her earlobes, hidden in her hair, flushed red.

Chen Jianjin nodded and went out the door.

Soon, he brought in a rather large bedside table with three simple home-style dishes and a bowl of seafood porridge, all of which were her favorites.

"Have some porridge to warm your stomach before eating vegetables."

Song Wan didn't have a habit of mistreating herself; she picked up the porcelain spoon.

An empty stomach feels soothed by food.

Chen Jianjin tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear as she lowered her head and asked with a smile, "Is it delicious?"

Song Wan nodded subconsciously, but immediately frowned and shook her head after regaining her senses, moving to the side to avoid his fingertips.

Chen Jianjin wasn't upset about being rejected. Instead, he explained, "I've only been learning to cook for two months, so I'm not very skilled yet. Once I'm more proficient, I'll cook for you every day, okay?"

Song Wan ignored him and continued eating.

After eating, Song Wan brushed her teeth and came out of the bathroom. She noticed Chen Jianjin was still there and frowned, "Aren't you leaving?"

Chen Jianjin pointed to her clothes, "You haven't taken a shower yet."

Song Wan knew this, of course, but who was to blame for it?

Thinking about it, she couldn't help but glare at him.

“I won’t shower in the house of a sex offender, so if you think I smell bad, send me back as soon as possible.”

As expected, Chen Jianjin frowned.

Send her back! Send her back...

Song Wan prayed silently in her heart, repeating the words over and over, her eyes filled with anticipation, but then she heard Chen Jianjin say, "We are lovers, kissing is normal."

"Chen Jianjin!" Song Wan shouted angrily, pointing at the door, "Get out!"

Chen Jianjin remained motionless. "We'll be living together from now on."

As he spoke, he walked towards her, saying, "Baby, you probably haven't seen the clothes I prepared for you yet."

He took her hand.

Song Wan felt a sense of powerlessness, like punching cotton.

She knew that Chen Jianjin came from a wealthy family and could afford to live in the city center where land was incredibly expensive; his bathroom was even bigger than her two-bedroom apartment.

The walk-in closet is twice the size of the bathroom, with walls full of clothes, bags, and jewelry.

"I picked all of these out myself."

I've been looking for two months, and I hope she'll like it.

——

Song Wan set her alarm for 5 a.m. for her morning class at 8:30 a.m. When she went downstairs, she ran into Chen Jianjin, who was returning from his morning run.

"Why are you up so early?"

His short-sleeved shirt was soaked with sweat and clung to his body, clearly outlining his well-defined muscles.

Powerful yet not exaggerated, bursting with masculine hormones.

Song Wan frowned, subtly averting her eyes, but the slight blush at the base of her ears betrayed her.

Chen Jianjin stood two steps below her, and she had to tilt her head slightly to see her eyes.

Song Wan tightened her grip on the handrail slightly. "You said you would let me leave this morning."

Chen Jianjin nodded, not intending to back out. "Wait a few minutes, I'll take a shower, cook, and then I'll take you back to school after we eat."

Song Wan wanted to say no, but Chen Jianjin had already walked past her and gone upstairs.

Chen Jianjin wasn't lying; he did shower very quickly, coming downstairs in less than ten minutes. But during those ten minutes, Song Wan was furious. This house required fingerprint unlocking to enter from the outside, and now it also required fingerprint unlocking to open the door from the inside!

Chen Jianjin did it on purpose!

Song Wan sat on the sofa in the living room, fuming.

The realization that she was waiting for him obediently brought Chen Jianjin joy.

He didn't dare delay and went into the kitchen.

Before long, Chen Jianjin brought out two servings of Chinese breakfast.

Do you have some kind of exhibitionist tendency?

Song Wan was in a bad mood and found everything disagreeable.

Chen Jianjin paused for a moment, then looked down.

He was shirtless, wearing only light gray drawstring sweatpants, and had abs and a V-line.

He trained himself very well.

Humans are visual creatures, and he assumed she would like it.

"I'm going to change my clothes."

By the time he changed and came downstairs, Song Wan had already finished eating.

Chen Jianjin glanced at the dining table. He had prepared a lot, but she had only eaten a boiled egg.

"Are you coming or not? Didn't you say you'd take me home?"

Chen Jianjin lowered his eyes in disappointment and replied in a deep voice, "Let's go."

They still couldn't have a proper meal together.
