Chapter 3: Going Home Together

Yan Cuo woke at daybreak. After washing up, she took out her homework from yesterday and reviewed it again. Then she picked up her English textbook. She frowned at the unfamiliar words, then began to read them one by one. After a while, she finally felt a little more comfortable.

It was already bright outside, Yancuo walked out of the room, and his aunt had already prepared breakfast. Yancuo was a little surprised, and called his aunt, then sat down quietly to eat breakfast. His aunt still had a blank expression on her face, but she didn't say anything unpleasant.

After breakfast, Yancuo picked up his schoolbag and walked out of the house. The weather was sunny, and there were occasional birds singing. Yancuo felt that it had been a long time since he had felt this comfortable. He took a deep breath and secretly encouraged himself.

Along the way, there were adults rushing to work, students like her carrying schoolbags to school, and an old man practicing Tai Chi in the park.

Yancuo felt as if life had finally become beautiful, and everything in the past seemed less important. He secretly raised a smile and looked at the road ahead. The morning sun shone on the asphalt, giving people a feeling of infinite hope ahead.

Walking into the campus, it was still early and not many people were there. Yan Cuo sat down quietly, opened his book and began to review.

People would come to the class one after another, and occasionally a classmate would greet her. Yancuo would smile softly and say, "Good morning." Then she would go to class quietly and do her homework quietly. Except for going to the bathroom, Yancuo would be in the classroom all day. Occasionally, someone would ask her to play together, but she would just smile and refuse.

She knew that her grades were poor and she was at the bottom of the class, but she had to improve herself, even if it was for the sake of her uncle who loved her, and for herself.

As time passed, Yan Cuo's grades finally improved. From being at the bottom of the class, he moved up to the middle level in the class.

Yancuo was very happy, and felt that her hard work had finally paid off. She worked even harder, wanting to get closer to her dream. Silently, Yancuo wondered, could she really do it? Could she get into the best high school in Ancheng?

It was another ordinary day, and Yancuo came to school as usual. After the second get out of class, there were bursts of shouting from the direction of the playground, and many classmates began to run out. Yancuo was not interested and continued to sit in his seat reading.

A female classmate pulled her out and ran, "Yancuo, go take a look. Don't just stare at books all day. Relax for a moment and go see what they are doing." The girl had a bright smile on her face. Yancuo looked at her and recognized her as the class study committee member, Su He. She finally ran out with her.

Outside, a group of people were crowded in the direction of the basketball court. No one knew what was going on. The girl pulled her into the basketball court. Inside, there were layers of people. Yan Cuo was small and could not see anything.

Su He only heard an excited scream: "Yan Cuo, Yan Cuo, that's Yu Muyang from the third grade, my god, so handsome!" Hearing the familiar name, Yan Cuo couldn't help but think of that tall figure and those warm hands. She couldn't help but want to take a look, but the crowd stopped her.

She was a little discouraged, and thought, forget it, and turned to leave. Yu Muyang saw her from a distance, curled his lips and smiled, but did not call her. He only thought, little girl, we meet again.

Yan Cuo walked out of the crowd, and Su He also ran out. "Why did you leave? Don't you want to watch them play basketball? Let me tell you, Yu Muyang is the most handsome boy in our school. He's super handsome and has good grades. There are a lot of girls who like him."

Yan Cuo looked back at her, "Do you like him too?" Su He blushed suddenly and stammered, "Of course I do, but he definitely won't like me. I'll just take a look."

Yan Cuo said again: "You are so young, do you know what love is?" Su He blushed and said sullenly: "Of course, love means that I blush when I look at him and I always think about him."

Yan Cuo stopped talking and thought about it blankly. Is this what love means?

Soon the bell rang and everyone returned to the classroom. Yan Cuo couldn't help but think about Su He's words again. Liking someone seemed like a distant thing, something he didn't dare to touch at the moment.

Then I looked at my washed-out clothes and my bean sprout-like figure. I looked at my female classmates of the same age, all of whom had already acquired the outlines of young girls and were filled with the breath of youth.

But I still look like an elementary school student, only 1.4 meters tall in the first grade of junior high school, with a sallow complexion that makes me look like a country girl. A deep sense of inferiority arises. I should just study hard, Yancuo thought. Liking that kind of thing is not for me.

Time passed quickly, and Ancheng entered deep autumn. The golden leaves fell one by one. It was another evening, and Yancuo was on his way home.

Yancuo is now able to keep up with the current learning progress, and his classmates are also very friendly. For the first time, Yancuo feels that it was right to come to this place with his uncle.

She clutched the strap of her schoolbag and walked quickly towards home. At this moment, a motorcycle rushed out from behind, very fast, and was about to hit Yancuo. Yancuo was frightened and stunned. Someone behind her pulled her back with force.

Yancuo stood on the lawn behind, watching the motorcycle speed by, feeling a wave of anxiety. Just now, it had almost hit him.

Looking behind him, he saw a tall figure standing sideways, just looking at him. Yan Cuo was shocked: "It's you."

The boy smiled and said, "Yeah, if it wasn't me, you might not be able to stand here and talk to me like this. What were you thinking about? You were so lost in thought that you didn't even hear the loud noise of the motorcycle." Yan Cuo was a little embarrassed. It was the first time she encountered such a situation, and she was a little confused.
