Chapter 26 Holiday

"Hmm? This kind of aura?" Xu Chen was walking out of the school gate to go home when he suddenly noticed a movement in his internal energy. "Could it be that my cultivation has improved again?" Xu Chen didn't dare to think too much about it. He picked up his backpack and walked towards the park. After finding a secluded spot, he set up an array to conceal his presence and began to sit down and regulate his breathing. At this moment, the thin spiritual energy in the air surged towards Xu Chen, creating a small spiritual energy storm around him and constantly transforming his body. As Xu Chen circulated his cultivation technique, he was very surprised. "Such a huge amount of spiritual energy, could it be that I have entered the Nascent Soul stage ahead of schedule?"

After a long while, as the sun set and night fell, Xu Chen stepped out of the formation. With a wave of his hand, the formation disappeared. Looking at his body, he muttered to himself, "I haven't felt any increase in the spiritual energy within my body, and my Nascent Soul is still just a Nascent Soul, not a Primordial Spirit. But why is this happening?" He closed his eyes and looked inward, suddenly discovering that his entire body seemed to be more integrated with heaven and earth, and the speed at which he absorbed spiritual energy had also increased. "I have indeed gained something, but why did this suddenly happen?" Xu Chen was very puzzled, but unable to find an explanation, so he simply went home.

Upon entering the house, he found that Wang Rong and Xu Nan had already gone to bed early. He went into the bedroom and fell into a deep sleep. The school had given them a rare day off recently. After a night's rest, Xu Chen got up and stretched as usual, then went out to get breakfast for Wang Rong. A cool morning breeze caressed his face. Breakfast shops on the street were crowded with students. Xu Chen went straight to his familiar porridge shop and said to the busy clerk, "The usual." The clerk nodded; he recognized the boy, who had been buying porridge frequently for the past six months. Xu Chen then sat down and scrolled through his phone, browsing Weibo. He found that the topic of his lunar footprints was still trending, with some people even seriously discussing conspiracy theories about whether the Dark Tower was dealing with aliens. Xu Chen chuckled, picked up the packaged porridge, paid, and left.

Back home, Wang Rong was already up. Now heavily pregnant, she was too exhausted to go to the company. Seeing her son return with porridge, she sat at the table, waiting for him to feed her. "Chenchen, Mom loves you," she said, touched, as Xu Chen peeled an egg for her. Xu Chen smiled and watched Wang Rong finish her breakfast. He then said, "Mom, I'm going to the library to read." Wang Rong gently replied, "Go ahead, remember to come back early." Xu Chen left home. The morning rush hour had begun; cars and people were everywhere. The sun was gradually rising. He walked to the city library. Regarding traveling, Xu Chen believed in avoiding cars in the city whenever possible, no matter how far. He wanted to experience the vibrancy of the world. Although the Tianquan Sect had 100,000 disciples, the sect was too large and felt deserted. Tianquan Star was similar; much larger than Earth, but with a smaller population. Xu Chen didn't necessarily like the hustle and bustle of the city, but he wasn't averse to it either.

Outside the library, people carrying briefcases, laptops, and books were coming and going. Xu Chen followed the signs and entered, finding all the books he needed. Although he already knew some Chinese and Earth history, it was always good to learn more. As he read, he opened a book on ancient Chinese mythology. He had actually read this book many times and didn't consider it a book of mythology, hence his repeated readings. Just then, the girl next to him started making a loud phone call, yelling for over ten minutes straight. Everyone around was getting annoyed. A man spoke up, "If you want to make a call, go outside. This is a public place." The girl put away her phone and yelled at the man, "Are you some kind of Pacific police officer? Why are you meddling? Nobody else is yelling, why are you being so nosy?" The man didn't reply. He probably knew it was pointless to reason with a woman. Seeing his silence, the girl also didn't say anything, picked up her backpack and books, and headed outside. Xu Chen was naturally unaware of this little incident. When he was focused on something, he would temporarily shut down his senses that weren't needed, which was why he hadn't turned around to watch the commotion. For some reason, the longer Xu Chen stayed in China, the more he enjoyed watching excitement. Even two small dogs fighting on the street would keep him watching for a while before he left. He checked his phone and saw it was almost lunchtime, so he put the book back and strolled away.

When Xu Chen returned home at noon, he saw his sister busy in the kitchen, while his mother was weaving auspicious prayer symbols on the sofa. Xu Chen went into his room to watch "The Wolf Fang List." There weren't many good TV dramas lately, so Xu Chen could only watch "The Wolf Fang List," "In the Name of the People," and "Awakening Era" over and over again. When he got to the part where Xiao Feiliu and Commander Meng were fighting, Xu Nan's voice came, "Brother Chen, dinner's ready." Xu Chen turned off his phone and went out of his room.

At the dinner table, Xu Chen asked Xu Nan curiously, "Sis, doesn't anyone at school pursue you? Besides that pervert from last time?" Xu Nan glared at Xu Chen fiercely. At this moment, Wang Rong looked over with curious eyes and said to her daughter earnestly, "Nan Nan, you're already a junior in college. You need to hurry up and find a boyfriend. What pervert are you talking about?" Xu Chen immediately told her everything. A hint of relief flashed in Wang Rong's eyes. Luckily, that pervert was caught, otherwise my daughter would be in danger, she thought to herself. Wang Rong couldn't help but lecture Xu Nan: "Nan Nan, don't just spend all your time drawing and shopping with your friends. Go and see the outstanding boys at your school. If you like any of them, I'll arrange for Chenchen to play matchmaker for you." Xu Nan's face darkened, and she glared fiercely at Xu Chen, who was gloating. "Mom, I don't really want to find a boyfriend right now. Let's talk about it after I graduate and find a job. You can't force fate." Wang Rong nodded in agreement. Actually, Xu Nan was very beautiful. Although there was no school beauty ranking, whenever Xu Nan left the art studio, boys would always look at her with admiring eyes. It was just a pity that she was still single. Especially after Xu Chen went to the school to help chase away the pervert, Xu Nan's admirers were disappointed and thought that Xu Nan was already taken. The number of people who came to chat with her and ask for her WeChat immediately dropped to zero. Xu Nan was happy that she didn't have to think about how to refuse, and she was always very grateful to her younger brother.

After dinner, Xu Nan grabbed her younger brother's ear, glanced around to make sure Wang Rong had gone back to his room, and then said fiercely, "Hey, you little rascal, daring to tease your sister about her life's most important thing! You're getting more and more mischievous!" Xu Chen quickly begged for mercy, "Sis, let go, let go! I'm just confused." Xu Nan released her hand and asked, "Confused about what?" Xu Chen pretended to rub his ear and then said, "I'm confused because you're so beautiful, how come you've never been in a relationship?" Xu Nan's face lit up with joy, "The first part makes sense. As for the reason I'm single, isn't it all because of you, Chen-di? Last time you came to our school and chased away Wang Kai, the whole school knows I have a boyfriend. If I explained that you're my brother, probably no one would believe me. So, tell me, how are you going to make it up to your sister?" Xu Chen thought to himself, "You're the one who dragged me there," and then said, "If you don't have class this afternoon, call your best friend and let's go shopping, buy, buy, buy. What do you think, sis?" Xu Nan said, "That's more like it."
