Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Nancheng No.1 Middle School always gives people a rushed feeling.

Yes, I'm in a real hurry.

Especially when the bell rings, people rush out like they're on fire as soon as the bell rings to signal the end of get out of class, and then rush back in a hurry for class, as if there's never enough time.

"What's the rush?" I asked Meng Xiaoqiong, panting.

"Aren't you afraid of being scolded by a guy with a long face?" Meng Xiaoqiong only showed me her two braids as she ran ahead quickly. "Hurry up, class is about to start."

I know you're in a hurry, but don't rush.

...I really can't run anymore.

I've heard there's something called a physical fitness test, where you have to run 800 meters or 1000 meters to measure your physical condition. I think this is just a sign of a serious illness. Why would someone who's perfectly healthy have to do that and shorten their lifespan?

Why not test my manners? I can help 387 elderly ladies cross the street.

We climbed to the fourth floor and entered the classroom one after the other. That director truly lived up to the nickname we gave him—"shoehorn face"—he was so smelly you could boil two bowls of stinky tofu in a pot.

She first saw Meng Xiaoqiong, who was late, and then she saw me.

His expression shifted from cloudy to sunny; clearly, he wanted to swear, but restrained himself in front of me. I could only sternly and angrily say, "Go back right now!"

Meng Xiaoqiong and I slunk away, like two rabbits running side by side.

She breathed a sigh of relief after sitting down, then belatedly exclaimed "Holy crap!" I asked her who she was cursing, and she said, "Sang Yue, you're amazing. From now on, taking you with me when I go out is like having a get-out-of-jail-free card."

I said it wouldn't be that bad.

She said it was.

I said it's not that bad, it really isn't.

She said it was too much and asked me to go with her again in the next class.

I:"……"

I'll fuck your mother.

Meng Xiaoqiong recently took a liking to a sports student, 185 cm tall, fair-skinned, and supposedly not very romantic, making him a good candidate for her to mess with.

My professional instincts kicked in, and I couldn't resist checking her love fortune. And guess what? It really was a recipe for disaster. The two of them were far from being compatible; in fact, they were completely incompatible.

The shoehorn-shaped figure turned to look this way, and we immediately separated and started flipping through our books together.

Ever since I explained the problem that day, all the teachers' attitudes towards me have changed a lot. Before, they would pretend not to see me, but now they would secretly glare at me during class to check my expression and see if they had explained it correctly.

Tsk, you really think highly of me.

I don't really care. The teaching mode is the same as before. If I get tired of listening, I'll take a nap. The next class will use a different textbook, just like getting a new pillow.

Unexpected things can happen at any time. After school, some people came to ambush me, and even some students from other classes surrounded me and wanted to fight me one-on-one.

I raised an eyebrow, rolled up my sleeves, and asked provocatively, "What do you want to compete in?"

The other person looked down at me and said, "Oh! Real! Question!"

"Okay, goodbye."

He seemed unconvinced and chased me for three kilometers after school, relentlessly pursuing me. Even Kuafu (a legendary figure known for his cunning) would have to ask him for advice.

I'm speechless. They didn't even do the physical fitness test, and this guy gave me an emergency training session.

I couldn't take it anymore, so I stopped him before the four-kilometer race started: "Stop."

His tired face was filled with joy. "Sang Yue, you've finally decided to have a showdown with me! I'm ready!"

"What have you prepared?" I said. "Speak properly first, why are you chasing after me?"

He chuckled and led me into a coffee shop nearby, saying, "I know this place well; let me treat you to coffee."

Once inside, he ordered me a pudding, which was entirely pink. When I touched it with my little spoon, the whole pudding trembled.

Delicious food... indeed, there are other things besides sunflower seeds.

I took a bite, and it was amazing! The texture is incredible. Could you please send me a recipe so I can have the Rain God learn it and make sure it rains pudding from now on?

I had taken several bites before I realized I was being stared at from above.

Why are you looking at me like that?

"Ah... I..." The other person panicked at my commotion. "I was just looking around, and there's some on your lips."

I casually rubbed my face with the back of my hand, and when I looked up I noticed his face was a little red. Is the room hot? It's alright.

Anyway, I'm not hot, so I'll pretend I didn't see it.

"By the way, you still don't know my name, do you?" He smiled at me, revealing two dimples on his face. "Yu Yuan."

"Taro balls?" I looked up. "Are they really that cute?"

"You can call me that, that's fine too."

The room temperature seemed to have risen again; I could tell from Yu Yuan's face.

He rubbed his hands together and said, "I'm currently number one in my grade."

I paused in my eating; it turned out they were waiting for me there.

I couldn't tell at first whether he was genuinely showing off or subtly revealing his true feelings to make me nervous.

Neither of them are of any use to me anyway.

I asked, "When is the next ranking?"

"Rankings?"

Yu Yuan thought for a moment, "Oh, you mean the next monthly exam? It's in half a month, so there's no rush."

I nodded: "Then this first place should still be yours."

I was just telling the truth.

To be fair, while we may be slightly more intelligent, we haven't really adapted to spoken Chinese yet. What's more, there's English, which I only glanced at in class before my eyes went blank: there's no need to waste time on a foreign language.

But Yu Yuan thought I was being modest and was startled.

"No, no, no, that's not what I meant. Sang Yue is the only person I believe can compete with me, and I'm very willing to have a showdown with you!"

When I heard him say that I felt like I could disappear into a crack in the ground, I decided to become a land spirit.

There's nothing we can do.

I finished the last bite of pudding and reached out my hand to him.

Yu Yuan stared blankly at me, then at his hand, and finally, with a bright red face, he put his hand over.

I immediately slapped the back of his hand: "I want your Olympiad past papers! You're stupid."

The phrase "a showdown" sounds too childish. I'm redefining myself; I call this helping. I help him with his problems, explain them to him after he understands them, and improve his skills. That's doing a good deed every day.

It was only when I was on the road that I realized I had forgotten something...

I pondered this until I got home, but still couldn't figure it out, so I just assumed I was overthinking it. I then devoted myself to studying Olympiad problems, and I discovered that these problems were similar to basic problems, but not entirely the same; you could still solve them by taking a roundabout approach.

I worked on it like a treasure hunter, and the whole night was spent on it. When I looked up, the clock had already struck ten.

I was so engrossed in my work tonight that I didn't even have time to look at the stars. Thinking this, I glanced at the balcony.

That glance almost scared me to death. I didn't see any stars, but I saw Wu Qi standing on the railing, ready to die.

"You...you're insane!"

Ignoring the cold, I opened the door and rushed over. I knew I looked a bit disheveled, but I was even more afraid that Wu Qi would do something reckless, so I clung to his ankle like a lifeline.

The wind howled, and I looked up at him. From this angle, I could just see the muscle lines under his shirt, and I couldn't help but blush again.

In such a life-or-death situation, Wu Qi was still able to laugh.

He chuckled softly, seemingly a little helpless.

Another gust of wind blew, and my hands instantly grasped at empty air. To be honest, I was terrified; my mind went completely blank. I can't find a good word to describe that feeling; it was more like despair.

To my surprise, Wu Qi's face suddenly appeared in front of me, looking neither normal nor normal.

He leaned against the railing, looking down at me. His warm breath brushed against my face, making it hard for me to focus for a moment.

"Aren't you always hoping I'll die?" he asked leisurely.

"Are you sick? When did you start joking around?" I was stunned for a moment, and when I came to my senses, I was already a little angry.

Wu Qi lowered his eyes and said, "So, wishing for my death before was just a joke."

I gritted my teeth: "...Wu Qi!"

As night fell, his lowered eyelashes concealed his emotions, and I couldn't see his expression. I could only hear him speaking slowly and persistently, "Why didn't you wait for me after school?"

With a whoosh, I heard my anger subside.

The resting place was completely clean, and even a wooden fish appeared out of nowhere for me to strike.

I guiltily looked away and said, "I forgot... I'm sorry."

Wu Qi jumped down from the railing. He took a step forward, and I took a step back. Finally, my head hit the glass door. I had nowhere to retreat and could only face it head-on.

Come to think of it, I've stood Wu Qi up quite a few times, and back in the Heavenly Realm, he never held it against me. Sometimes he even acted a little superior, saying things like, "Did I invite you? I forgot, I forgot." But today, I could definitely sense that something was off about his mood.

"I'll definitely wait for you next time. I really forgot today," I said, my voice growing weak by the end.

He continued to stare at me silently.

After a while, he suddenly lost his strength and braced his forearm above my head. Then he said in a muffled voice, "Ah Yue, is the pudding delicious?"
