Chapter 609

Five Blood Demons

Blackie looked rather disheveled; his clothes were torn in several places, and his face was slashed and bleeding. "Blackie, you..."

But then Blackie made a shushing gesture and signaled him to turn off the flashlight.

Although puzzled, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven did as he was told. Blackie got up and led him forward, feeling his way to the window of the main hall.

Blackie gestured for the Monkey King to look down.

In the square in front of the main hall, several beams of flashlights flickered, and a few dark figures were looking around. They were the helpers that the Monkey King had invited.

"Hey, one is missing, there are only four people left," the Monkey King said, looking at Blackie with a puzzled expression.

Then, Blackie made a shushing gesture, indicating that he should continue watching. Based on his years of experience following Blackie, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven immediately understood Blackie's meaning; there must be something strange about these people.

After careful observation, Gouwa was shocked and almost cried out. He clearly saw five shadows behind the four people, meaning there was an extra shadow. Was this shadow a ghost?

As the group approached, the Great Sage Equaling Heaven could see clearly that they were all in a sorry state, covered in blood. One of them seemed to have suffered a serious injury, with half of his clothes stained red with blood and his pale face looking unusually strange.

Then Blackie gestured to leave, and Gouwa followed. The two groped their way to a stone wall. Blackie moved a stone slab below and jumped down first. The Great Sage Equal to Heaven followed and put the slab back together.

Below is a small stone chamber with a stone coffin in the center. Next to the coffin are two skeletons with clothes still visible on them, which, judging from their style, should be clothing from the early days of the People's Republic of China.

Needless to say, these were two tomb raiders, but unfortunately, they died here. Blackie lit a cigarette, took two deep drags, and said, "Great Sage Equal to Heaven, we shouldn't have come to raid this tomb this time. This tomb is not safe to raid; we might both die here."

If these words came from an ordinary person, Gouwa wouldn't be surprised, but coming from Heiye's mouth, it was completely different. You know, Gouwa had followed Heiye and robbed hundreds of ancient tombs, big and small, and had never heard Heiye say such a thing before. What could be the reason that even Heiye, who was considered a master in the tomb raiding world, was afraid?

Hei Ye remained silent for a while, smoking, before continuing, "This tomb is cursed and involves the mystery of the disappearance of the ancient Shu people. Now we'll see how things go, but I'm sure those people won't survive."

"In that case, let's retreat." Hearing what Blackie said, even the Great Sage Equal to Heaven became frightened. Although tomb raiding was a way to make money, it was also an extremely dangerous profession. Putting aside the fact that it was illegal, the dangers inside ancient tombs could be deadly.

"Get out?" Blackie shook his head dejectedly, his eyes filled with despair. "There's no way out now. By entering this tomb, we've inadvertently awakened the cursed power within. The evil spirits and even more terrifying things that exist here will appear. If I'm not mistaken, those people were attacked by the Corpse Fiend, and the one we didn't see is definitely dead."

Just then, a series of noisy footsteps sounded in the main hall above. It was those people coming up. Blackie gestured for the Great Sage Equaling Heaven to be quiet, and then stood up and pressed his ear against the stone wall.

The group of people were clearly searching around the main hall. One of them said in a hurried voice, "The footprints below look like theirs, but they disappeared up here. They must still be up here."

“That’s right, they must still be in here. Damn it, we’ve been really screwed over by that son of a bitch Blackie. This is a ghost tomb, there’s no way out but death. But if we’re going to die, we’ll take them with us,” another voice said fiercely.

Suddenly, the noisy footsteps stopped, and the scene became extremely quiet. The atmosphere became increasingly eerie, and even the Monkey King dared not breathe. At this moment, Blackie returned and said, "They should have gone up. The top three floors should be the real tomb chamber, but I'm afraid we can't go in."

After finishing speaking, Blackie turned his gaze to the stone coffin in the center. "How did these two people die here?" he asked, walking over to examine it closely.

The Monkey King followed, and saw that the two skeletons had begun to weather away, seemingly having died of natural causes. Blackie reached out and took something from one of the skeletons, a black porcelain-like object. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and then he put the black porcelain into his pocket.

The Monkey King opened a bag next to the skull. Although it was somewhat tattered, it was generally well-preserved. Inside the bag were tools used for tomb raiding. "Hey, what's this?" The Monkey King turned the bag upside down, and all the contents fell out. Among them, a yellowed photograph caught his attention.

The Monkey King held the photo in his hand and examined it. It seemed to be a graduation photo or something similar, showing three rows of young men and women wearing green military uniforms from the early days of the People's Republic of China. The Monkey King was surprised to find that one of the young men looked very much like Blackie. Although the photo was blurry, he could still recognize him at a glance.

On the back of the photo were a few hastily written words: "Life and death are predestined. I hope that those who are fortunate enough to survive will continue the investigation..." The rest of the words were illegible.

Blackie took the photo, glanced at it, and his previously calm eyes suddenly lit up. "If you're lucky enough to get out of here alive, forget everything that happened here and start your life anew. The things involved here are beyond your comprehension."
