I couldn't bear to think about going any further, so I slowly crawled across until I finally reached the crevice, where the corpse bats were hanging.
After a moment's thought, I lit a ball of pine resin and threw it in. Immediately, the corpse bats flew out as if they had seen something deadly. I took the opportunity to jump in, held my breath, and ran like the wind.
The space ahead opened up, like a wide valley, but it was pitch black. I shone my headlamp on it and couldn't see the end at all.
"Splash, splash!" I heard the sound of flowing water in front of me. Following the sound, I discovered an underground river not far ahead, with a rapid current and an iron suspension bridge connecting the two.
"Hey, what's that?" I saw black objects emerging from the dark river, appearing and disappearing in the current.
Upon closer inspection, I realized that these black objects were corpses, swollen and blackened corpses. My headlamp shone directly on the face of one of the corpses, and I saw that the face was already rotten, the flesh had peeled off, and the eyes were wide open.
With a splash, the ancient corpse floated and sank in the water, emitting a foul stench. At that moment, a cold wind blew, and the soul-summoning bell I was wearing began to shake violently.
I was terrified. The summoning bell automatically gave a warning, indicating that a horde of evil spirits had appeared in this place. I quickly turned off my headlamp and hid in a corner.
He silently recited the incantation, took out a yellow talisman, and pasted it on his eyes. This was my ancestral Yin-Yang technique, like having Yin-Yang eyes, which allowed me to see the spirits in the darkness.
I quietly scanned the area ahead, and sure enough, a group of dark figures walked over in orderly steps from the opposite bank of the Yin River a short while later.
There were probably over a hundred of them; these black figures looked like soldiers.
Yin spirits rose up everywhere, and the temperature around me suddenly dropped. I knew in my heart that there must be too many yin spirits, and the yin energy they emitted had formed a certain magnetic field space. Simply put, this place had become a hellish place.
These ghostly soldiers walked past me, heading back towards the passage I had come from. My eyes widened as I saw four ghostly soldiers carrying a black coffin. This coffin was exactly the same as the one I had opened in the Thousand-Layer Hanging Coffin Burial. Could it be…? I was shocked, and a vague guess formed in my mind.
Then, an even more unbelievable scene unfolded: at the very end of the ghostly soldiers, a black cat was walking among them, its movements and appearance exactly the same as the ghostly soldiers.
Judging from his appearance, he seemed to have lost his mind, with a blank look on his face. I was about to go up and drag him back when I remembered that my grandfather had said that he had been summoned by the ghost soldiers and they were going to take him to the underworld.
Unexpectedly, at that moment, the black cat winked at me, and then something fell off his body.
After the ghostly soldiers passed, I quickly ran over and picked up what the black cat had dropped. It was a piece of cloth, and when I unfolded it, I saw several large words written in blood: "Blackie is not dead." I was stunned.
After the initial shock subsided, I calmed down and thought about it carefully. It's true that no one knew about Blackie's death back then, and no one witnessed it. After all, none of the people who were with him at the time came out. Although the Monkey King did come out, he was also acting crazy.
"If Blackie isn't dead, where has he been for the past ten years? And how did Black Cat know he wasn't dead? Could Blackie be in this tomb?" As he pondered this, a strange feeling suddenly arose in his mind.
I observed my surroundings for a while longer to make sure there was nothing unusual before turning on my headlamp and walking over. A chilling wind blew across the suspension bridge, and corpses floated in the underground river below, a sight that sent shivers down my spine.
After passing through a cave, the space opened up again. When I shone my headlamp on it, my heart started pounding. If I wasn't mistaken, I thought I had arrived at the real ancient tomb, the place where the true tomb owner was buried.
"Could this be the tomb of the King of Shu?" I shone my headlamp and found that the tomb could only be described as magnificent and splendid. The huge tomb could hold at least tens of thousands of people. The four rock walls were covered with murals. The most obvious one was a bronze human face image at the top of the tomb, which was exactly the same as the mural I had seen before.
In the center of the enormous tomb chamber, there are rows of well-preserved black wooden coffins, totaling eleven rows with seven coffins per row, for a total of seventy-seven coffins. On the stone platform at the very front, there is a larger coffin, or more accurately, an outer coffin.
I suppressed my excitement. I never expected that I would stumble upon a real cemetery, which might very well be the burial place of the legendary King of Shu.
The surroundings were deathly silent. I was considering whether to go down and investigate, but I was also a little scared. After all, I had never robbed a tomb before, let alone the tomb of the King of Shu. I had encountered so many strange things when I came in before. Would this place be normal?
My heart was pounding, but I finally decided to go down and take a look. Since I was already here and couldn't get out anyway, it would be a shame not to see it.
As I descended the steps, shining my headlamp down, I suddenly felt my vision blur. I quickly rubbed my eyes and was horrified to find that the scenery around me had changed drastically.
It was no longer a tomb; it was clearly a strange magic formation. The original coffins were scattered all around, trapping me inside.
This was a wasteland, and all the coffins were half-buried in the ground. I was shocked and thought to myself, "This must be a magic array that can only be set up when the art of Yin and Yang has reached its peak. It is the same array that Zhuge Liang used to trap the Wu army with three thousand stones."
With my current level of skill, there's no way I can crack it. I felt a sense of despair. In a place like this, not to mention anything else, you'd starve to death just by being hungry.
